"...something like 20 minutes max..." Would have taken longer if you'd checked: credible or creditable....complimentary or complementary....et al and 'absence of no communication'...that'll be communication, then. Tsk. Rather pedantic I feel - but coming from another country and bordering on being dyslexic I do sometimes struggle with my grammar - sorry!!! I rely too much on my computer to put me right - silly really. Clearly you like being Mr Smart Ar&e pulling everyone up on their spelling - sad really but whatever floats your boat I guess!!

I thought we move into the new training ground in June this year not 2018? Pretty sure the last suggestion was 'next summer' by DC(?) in a recent interview, but given that apart from the fence there doesn't seem that any work has taken place at Almondsbury then it seems little prospect of us moving in, or even using the pitches for training, this summer. Whether everything now hangs on the outcome of the UWE talks or not is anybody's guess.

Just a few words that maybe our Chairman could have put together at season's end and posted on the website: "On behalf of the Board of Directors - Darrell Clarke & his team- and all staff associated with BRFC we would to thank our supporters, sponsors & followers for the magnificent support the team has received both home and away over the past season". "The team under Darrell's leadership has continued to do well and have consolidated their position in a highly competitive League 1 although ultimately missing out on reaching a very credible position in the League Play offs which was well within our grasp until the last couple of weeks of the season. I'm sure with shrewd investment in the playing side during the close season we will reap rewards with continuing progression on the pitch next season. We will work closely with Darrell over the next few weeks to establish a competitive budget which will reflect the ambitions of the Manager to improve his playing staff". "There has been significant investment in 'back room' staff to support Darrell in our impending move to The Colony in June 2018 - this investment is fundamental to the long term sustainability of the club as a whole. In relative terms it will be a 'State of The Art' facility light years ahead of anything the club has had previously and hopefully will attract many young footballing talents to the Academy over the years to come. Detailed plans will be submitted to South Gloucestershire Council in the coming weeks. There will also be significant investment into the Memorial Stadium over the close season and whilst we are limited in what we can do we still aim to provide Darrell and the team with the best possible resources we can within the restraints we have at the Stadium. This should not be seen as a negative to any future long term plans we have for our club - only as something which is necessary and complimentary to our short term requirements". "There is understandable frustration within the fan base as to the seemingly protracted negotiations that are ongoing with The University of the West of England with regard to the new Stadium proposals. The BoD would like to take this opportunity to reassure all of our supporters that the ongoing negotiations are proceeding within a positive framework with the aim of achieving a positive outcome for both parties which will ultimately deliver the Stadium which is also fundamental to the long term future of BRFC. There is commitment from both sides to conclude the negotiations as soon as possible." "We thank you for your patience and look forward to another season of progression under Darrel's leadership next season" In the absence of virtually no communication from the Club, I don't feel it's unreasonable for Steve Hamer to produce a fairly optimistic/ message like this which has taken something like 20 minutes max to put together. The silence is deafening from the Club. Sack the board, bring back piggy higgs, its his club after all......

PM Henbury, he will give you the lowdown on what is happening behind the scenes with regards to the Colony, you might not know this but he has an inside pair of eyes and ears in SGCC, sshhh, don't tell anyone, its a secret

I'll bet the OP has never had to rely on the Green Un, Club Call or Ceefax for his news! We live in an instant news environment! I hope the Chairman is too busy with UWE to be bothered with this! Higgs & Co used to tell us how lucky we were to have them!!! Who remembers being on holiday and waiting for the Wednesday papers to arrive on a Friday just so that you could get the mid-week football scores?!!! At least he got the obligatory Rovers spelling mistake in!!! You forgot the Pink Un!!

Didn't Nick Higgs do a monthly news report on the website? Always very tedious and uninformative I recall, perhaps Steve might be persuaded to resurrect the practice ?

He did, but the usual lot moaned that it was every month, so he did a fortnightly? one, and the same lot moaned that nothing was being said...

See, Higgs used to get slaughtered for doing exactly this You're right but with NH it was usually the same old stuff on a too regular basis. I feel that an occasional Club Statement/Update particularly at the end of the season however vague or indeed positive with so much going on would go amiss. There seemed to be more revealed by SH at a WSM gathering with Marcus Stewart than there has been to the wider fan base - I don't really think that's fair in all honesty - that just adds to speculation and indeed negativity. A decent secretary could put something together if he's too busy. If if I try and stimulate something on here I get hit by the 'Keyboard Warriors'. if the Oxford Chairman can come out with positive statements about his club why not ours? Nothing I said in that missive of mine was in anyway provocative - quite the opposite in fact.

They are still awaiting getting new plans approved for the changing rooms etc are they not. So not likely to be using the site for a while. So DC will have to wait another season before he gets his own training camp .Probably a reason why they are spending money on the mem pitch this summer. So DC can physically see things are being changed for him ,that bit by bit he will get top class facilities and the budgets to achieve some real success.

Don't take it personally, it was a good post, trouble is we all get bored in the close season so post things often just to keep a thread going.

They did but there seemed no logic in that statement even at the time, probably SH speaking again before engaging his brain.

Ok that makes sense, but I'm 99% sure that during a interview after the development it was announced that we would be moving in this summer. Oh well. That's my recollection too. It was indicated that we might do some of our pre-season training at the Colony, with some basic facilities for the time being whilst the main build was taking place. Plans obviously changed quickly.
