Just a few words that maybe our Chairman could have put together at season's end and posted on the website:
"On behalf of the Board of Directors - Darrell Clarke & his team- and all staff associated with BRFC we would to thank our supporters, sponsors & followers for the magnificent support the team has received both home and away over the past season".
"The team under Darrell's leadership has continued to do well and have consolidated their position in a highly competitive League 1 although ultimately missing out on reaching a very credible position in the League Play offs which was well within our grasp until the last couple of weeks of the season. I'm sure with shrewd investment in the playing side during the close season we will reap rewards with continuing progression on the pitch next season. We will work closely with Darrell over the next few weeks to establish a competitive budget which will reflect the ambitions of the Manager to improve his playing staff".
"There has been significant investment in 'back room' staff to support Darrell in our impending move to The Colony in June 2018 - this investment is fundamental to the long term sustainability of the club as a whole. In relative terms it will be a 'State of The Art' facility light years ahead of anything the club has had previously and hopefully will attract many young footballing talents to the Academy over the years to come. Detailed plans will be submitted to South Gloucestershire Council in the coming weeks. There will also be significant investment into the Memorial Stadium over the close season and whilst we are limited in what we can do we still aim to provide Darrell and the team with the best possible resources we can within the restraints we have at the Stadium. This should not be seen as a negative to any future long term plans we have for our club - only as something which is necessary and complimentary to our short term requirements".
"There is understandable frustration within the fan base as to the seemingly protracted negotiations that are ongoing with The University of the West of England with regard to the new Stadium proposals. The BoD would like to take this opportunity to reassure all of our supporters that the ongoing negotiations are proceeding within a positive framework with the aim of achieving a positive outcome for both parties which will ultimately deliver the Stadium which is also fundamental to the long term future of BRFC. There is commitment from both sides to conclude the negotiations as soon as possible."
"We thank you for your patience and look forward to another season of progression under Darrel's leadership next season"
In the absence of virtually no communication from the Club, I don't feel it's unreasonable for Steve Hamer to produce a fairly optimistic/ message like this which has taken something like 20 minutes max to put together. The silence is deafening from the Club.
