They have proven over recent years they are too arrogant to listen to recommendations from mere fans. Strange in some ways when you think the tea lady spotted the first million £ GK. I think there needs to be a line of communication where fans can send in reasonable recommendations, you never know what gems you might discover.

I have contacted various people at the club (in person and in writing/emails) over the years about certain players and still do to this day.
Recently I have watched games in places like Brazil, Venezuela and Peru and there are some gems there as well who we can probably sign for a couple of sheep and a sack of potatoes judging by the state of some of their stadiums.
Of course, they don't have the resource to follow up every recommendation, but in my experience, they gave the impression you are trying to do their job for them and pluck names from Champ Manager.
These days I email and don't get anything back but that was certainly the response years back.

Very disappointing, but not surprising, I've heard the same from numerous people, some who have scouted for bigger clubs than Rovers. It's not like we have an extensive scouting network either.

Exactly they should be grateful for any help they can get.
Even Championship manager developers pulled info from fans of all clubs across the country and the results were very accurate, even youngsters not yet broken through.
I get to see a lot of foreign games whilst i'm working abroad and take notes of players that catch the eye. More so for my own benefit to see if they hit the big time in years to come as recommending anything to Rovers is a waste of time imo.

Surely we could have outbid them and offered a more attractive proposition? DC probably didn't rate or want him anyway, "nothing in the pipeline", preferring players like Byron Moore and Sinclair on the left.

DC is too obsessed with having money in the kitty until the January window. (to be spent between 29th and 31st Jan)

When the market is more expensive?

I'm not surprised DC wasn't in for him. Sercombe is a very similar player and one we know more about so it's less of a risk. It's just frustrating to see lots of clubs around us making a statement by signing good players for the division. We have a fairly strong squad but it's obvious 2-3 need to come in and "nothing in the pipeline" is a bit frustrating. I'm just going to forget about it and get behind the boys at bury. Hopefully Nichols and Telford prove to be good signings.

Sercs has played the majority of his career centrally and Forrester on the wing, mostly on the left cutting inside.

The couple of times I've seen him, he was played through the center and I would say in that role he looked similar to Sercombe obviously if played on the left he would be a different type of player but don't forget that Sercombe has played on the wing before also.

From what I can gather Forrester has played 68 times in his career from the left wing, 14 times from the right and 18 times as an attacking midfielder or second striker. Would've been ideal for us IMHO, but I suppose with "nothing in the pipeline" we'll have to make do with Moore or Sinclair out wide for now.

Bola looked useful in left sided attacking positions for Notts County last season. Could do worse than give him a try if we are going with what we have?

Couldn't do much worse than what we've got out there now.

Haha, true. What's Phil Purnell up to these days?
