We are pleased to announce that we have today completed the signing of Weston-super-Mare defender Rollin Menayse.
Rollin will, initially, join our U-23 squad under the guidance of Chris Hargreaves.
Chris said today; “I am delighted that Rollin is joining us for next season. He spent some time training with us towards the end of last season and I was impressed with his work ethic and willingness to learn. He will be joining us, on a full time basis, for the start of pre-season training and would like to formally welcome him to Bristol Rovers.
“He already knows some of the squad and I’m sure he will settle in quickly and I look forward to working with him again.”
The 19 year old central defender was formerly with Cardiff City and is a Welsh Youth International and is described as a player with good technical ability who is a threat in both penalty boxes.

"who is a threat in both penalty boxes". - that sounds scary ! Sounds like an improvement on Browners cover who was only a threat in our penalty box.

He is a good prospect.
Living in Weston I've seen him a few times - he is decent in both boxes as the article says, very strong, powerful.
Needs to improve his distribution and the more technical aspects of his game a bit more from what I watched, but he is young and that will develop further with time.
Speaking to other people at Weston they were very impressed by him last season and he was one of their top performers.
A good signing for the long term and could be pushing for a first team place sooner rather than later.
Welcome to the gas Rollin and good luck.

Weston head coach Scott Bartlett commented on the defender`s move:
“Rollin did really well for us, he deserves his move to Bristol Rovers. It’s not easy for young players that get released, it’s easy to get lost in the system but he put his belief and trust in us. He threw himself into everything we are trying to do here at Weston. He’s a good player and has all the attributes to do well, he will certainly be better for this experience, in many ways it’s been the making of him.
“Darrell Clarke is a friend of mine, Rolls knows he is representing myself as well as the club now. We have told him that the next couple of years will define his career. He knows he needs to go there and be the hardest working player at the club.
“It goes without saying that we wish him all the best and are proud that another young player has progressed at our club.”

He is doing a decent job there and they had a good season by their standards. A few players have kicked on under his guidance like Dayle Grubb and Brad Ash (returned on loan after signing for Barnsley under the previous manager Northmore).
