The Mem and pitch are having over £100k spent on it over the summer.
What are the club trying to do to raise the costs for these improvements from non football revenues?
There seems to be a lit of business/trade fayres at Aston Gate, but surely the Mem can cater for more lower end trade?
It has been said that stadiums should be used every day of the week, but of course to do that the Men would need support from local businesses and fans.
I would expect a good take up for Fathers Day, but what else is going on at the stadium in the summer. Maybe they could have a hospitality day for something like a British Grand Prix or the Open, with breakfast and lunch paid for with drinks on tap so you can watch in peace with others interested in those sports?
Could they not have a 5 a side tournament on the pitch or even the car park next season on the weekend before they start to update the pitch?
One of the clubs assets is the players. If they are not organising a formal player of the year presentation, can't they have a barbeque type informal presentation on a weekend when adults can attend.
Next season there will be another England flop in an international tournament but if the likes of Sinclair or Bodin attended it would give the club a unique selling point.
As supporters, I think we have to try and help the club as much as possible, so why not have an 18th, 21st, engagement, wedding, retirement party or wake at the stadium. If you are in business, why not try and do a deal for a trade show etc, etc.
I am sure between us we can come up with loads of good ideas. The money the clubs make for these events can give us more bidding power to try and retain the likes of Lumley or Sweeney on loan.

There is an outdoor cinema event happening this summer. And I believe there is a outdoor food festival too.

Lots of clubs now hire out there pitch. You with a group of friends can hire for a full game of 11 a side. At newcastle i think it works out at something like £50 per person. Id pay that to play at the mem!
Could we not also work with local leagues to offer something to ameture teams? My friend works at the Devon FA, and every friday night they host an ameture league game at on there pitch. Both teams pay a fee, but get to play there league fixture on an excellent little pitch with good facilities. Surely with a vastly improved pitch, an extra game per week wouldnt do too much harm?

Ater they levelled the pitch and sowed the grass seed, I believe the contractors also planted a few magic money trees behind the goal, next to the South Stand.

TBH I'd be pretty annoyed if Rovers risked a bunch of lads ruining the new pitch for a kick about just to raise a £1,000 or so once a month. I'd also imagine an amature game would bring in peanuts compared to the risk of damaging the pitch.

"meet in convivial and like-minded company, and doubtless regale each other"
First meeting will probably be the OAP's discussing what the hell "convivial" and "regale" actually mean!

Us old gits are totally aware of the meanings behind those descriptions, if I wasn't working full time I would take up that opportunity. The idea of paying to use the pitch on a friday night; does not make financial sense. It will cost more to put the lights on than the grand or so that these teams would pay in, sorry to be such a killjoy but it's in my nature.

I've thought for a while the club should do a screening of the season review at the mem.
Make it ticketed and have the bar open.
I for one would be up for it

Doubt we can hold any large noisy events, especially at night due to the residents, the shop owners, the loony left council and every other moaning bastard that hates living

I suppose they are over by around 10:30 so anything later than that is uncharted territory.
