It will be interesting to see where the South Stand sits in the Bristol Rovers 1883 Ltd holding company accounts which are now 18 days overdue. The former owner, now minority shareholder is a personal guarantor of the stand to the tune of £1.5 million plus. Not sure the Al Saeeds will relieve him of that responsibility. What is the old saying, guarantors are fools with pens ! The South Stand could turn out to be a spectacular own goal. Why?

Now, I argued this exact issue with Nobby at the time. No problem he said. 🤫 "“Pharmacists … are spending hours a day hunting down stock, yet too often have to turn patients away. It’s distressing when pharmacy teams find themselves unable to provide a prompt medicines services, through no fault of their own.” Global manufacturing problems linked to Covid, inflation, the war in Ukraine and global instability have helped cause the UK’s unprecedented inability to ensure patients can access drugs. But Britain’s departure from the EU in 2020 has significantly aggravated the problem, laid bare the “fragility” of the country’s medicines supply networks and could lead to the situation worsening, the report said." www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/science/2024/apr/18/drug-shortages-normal-in-uk-made-worse-by-brexit-report-warns

Not another one. 🙄
"An MP has lost the Conservative Party whip while newspaper claims about alleged misuse of campaign funds are investigated.
Mark Menzies, the MP for Fylde, disputes the allegations reported by The Times but the Conservative Party is looking into the claims.
A spokesperson for Chief Whip Simon Hart said: "Following a call with the Chief Whip, Mark Menzies has agreed to relinquish the Conservative whip, pending the outcome of an investigation." "

I think the smoking bill is probably the best bit of legislation this government has introduced, excellent. 14 yrs ….. fair play 😂 Okay, just for fun, name the best thing and worst thing from each of the 5 (Five!!) Conservative PMs since 2010. Cameron - best Gay Marriage, worst Surestart being cancelled May - best Salisbury reaction, worst not getting a concensus on Brexit. Johnson - best Ukraine intervention, worst being intolerance of those who disagreed. Truss - not enough time, worst has to be the mini budget. Sunak - best, hopefully the smoking ban, worst is Rwanda. Any takers?

At least 50,000 Russians have been killed. Doesn’t make pleasant reading for the convicts promised a Pardon if they survive the war. "Former prisoners have also described the high price paid by their comrades. "If you sign up now, be ready to die, mate," says Sergei, in an online forum for Storm fighters and their relatives, where information is shared. He claims to be a former inmate who has been fighting in a Storm unit since October. Another forum member says he joined a Storm platoon of 100 soldiers five months ago and is now one of just 38 still alive. "Every combat mission is like being born again." " www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-68819853[b Their tactics are First World War esque, thing it's a win win for Putin, wears down Ukraine and the Russian Government doesn't have to support them as prisoners. Reminds me of the scene in Zulu where the adviser points out that the Chief is counting the guns with the lives of his warriors. The tactic allows the Russian artillery to pin point Ukrainian defence locations for attack.

Really hope DC can keep Cheltenham up. Done a cracking job as they've looked dead and buried more than once Definitely. Peterborough and Lincoln at home, Stevenage away. Going to be tough. Burton (Reading at home, Fleetwood away) still edge it at the moment, I think.

Not necessarily, depends on the motives and little benefit if you have very few MPs and 5 years away from another GE. At the moment I'd say it's about deflection and minimising loses at the next election. Fair enough, but it also goes back to my point about Rayner mis-handling it. Come clean at the start and no one is talking about it three months later - the only reason this went from CGT to rental income to Electoral Registrations to council tax discounts to Right to Buy discounts to mortgage payments and more is because she ignored the initial claim. Which is why I don't think it's an attack to win votes as she could have shut it down back in Jan/Feb when no one was really thinking about local or general elections... Why was a book written, serialised in a national newspaper and said paper and Conservative MPs continuing to raise it (by Sunak himself at the first opportunity during PMQs today)? Surely now it's in the hands of GMP there is no reason to comment until they reach their conclusions.

It was always about votes. The Conservatives are not going to win either way. Surely it's more damaging to release the information once she's Deputy Prime Minister and tarnish their first few months in government...? Not necessarily, depends on the motives and little benefit if you have very few MPs and 5 years away from another GE. At the moment I'd say it's about deflection and minimising loses at the next election.

Four new opinions polls have been released since post Raynor . They suggest the British public aren't too interested in the accusations. All the polls show no change with one actually -2 for the Tories. True it don't give evidence that the public are backing Rayner nether do the public care much about the continuous right wing media attention. Don't shoot the messenger look at the polls !. www.markpack.org.uk/155623/voting-intention-opinion-poll-scorecard/What makes you think this is about winning votes? This is now a serious criminal investigation into the current Deputy leader of the Labour Party... It was always about votes.

Standards of service in hospitality have plummeted since our European cousins fled these shores for somewhere more welcoming. Are you able to break down the number of EU Citizens working in hospitality who fled the UK due to brexit and the number who fled due to the pandemic ? Unless I'm missing something but didn't those EU workers have every right to remain in the UK at the time of brexit providing they were legally resident in the UK. If they fled because they were not legally resident and not paying UK tax then who is to blame? Had you said that brexit has made it difficult (although not impossible) for EU citizens to now come to the UK and work in the hospitality industry I would totally agree with you. In 2020 nearly 10,000 pubs bars and restaurants closed across the UK at the time of the pandemic. In 2023 (post pandemic) 509 pubs closed which equates to over 6000 job losses. Imagine the job losses in 2020. Those EU workers had to either find alternative employment in the industry they knew (pretty unlikely) or return to their home country. As I understand it they left to return back to their home country during the pandemic but that the rules now prevent them returning.

Conservative MP Adam Afriyie, who accepted £19,000 worth of all-expenses paid trips to speak at Tobacco industry conferences in the past two years, says that smoking bans "don't work" and are "ridiculous". It's always been that way, sadly. It's the brass neck of some who claim there is no influence that's galling.

It’s the keeper changes I don’t get. Why drop Jed, then say you’re picking your strongest team, then bring him back in? MT clarified that,Ward had played a lot of games as a young keeper and Saturday change was to freshen it up for that game. Hurt his back bending over to pick up the ball from the back of the net. 😇

Nobody yet mentioned the Smoking bill, Rwanda bill or the National Conservatives being banned in Brussels? Smoking bill is a great bit of legalisation 👍 Rwanda bill is shocking and shameful 👎 No doubt the snowflakes will cry after their little fash bash was cancelled 😂 Agreed 😁
