I watched some of that today. If all true, what damming testimony of the quality of this government. Just a question,do you think in any major crisis of the last 100yrs the level of dysfunctional government would have been the same as today ,ie:, Suez etc. Does the advent of Social Media invasiveness make for better or worse government? No and probably negligible in terms of good governance. The advent of rolling 24 hour news has made a more detrimental impact on politics imo.

No chance of a ceasefire, little incentive for either side. "Meanwhile, Hamas official Ghazi Hamad, from the group's political bureau, told Lebanese TV Israel's "occupation must come to an end. I am talking about all the Palestinian lands". Asked by the interviewer: "Does that mean the annihilation of Israel?", he replied: "Yes of course." He said "we are the victims" and vowed that the group would carry out more attacks like it did on 7 October, when militants stormed the Israel border and killed more than 1,400 Israelis in what Hamas called the "Al Aqsa Flood". Hamas also took more than 200 hostages during the raids. Mr Hamad said: "The Al Aqsa Flood is just the first time, and there will be a second, a third, a fourth, because we have the determination, the resolve, and the capabilities to fight." If they’re like this for a ‘temporary’ structure what are they going to be like for the East and North stands? Would we submit two separate applications or a combined one? Which is more likely to go through and quicker?

Houthis in Yemen launched a third missile towards Isreal today, Iranian proxies in Syria have attacked US forces 34 times in two weeks and 5 rocket attacks over Tel Aviv today.
Meanwhile, US and Isreali diplomats have talked about a post conflict Gaza with possible peacekeepers. Not sure non Arab forces would be a good idea.

Starmer today, seems reasonable. Playing with words perhaps but making a distinction between humanitarian aid and a ceasefire. Trying to keep Labour together. All irrelevant to the real world and won't make any difference to events on the ground.
"Ceasefire could leave Hamas 'emboldened' and it would start 'preparing for future violence immediately', says Starmer Back in the UK, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is delivering a statement on the conflict.
He says the 7 October attack was the "biggest slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust" and "terrorism on a scale of brutality that few countries have ever experienced".
Talking about Gaza, he says the region is suffering from a humanitarian catastrophe on an "unimaginable scale", with thousands of Palestinians "reduced to drinking contaminated filth".
But he says a ceasefire could leave Hamas feeling "emboldened" to attack again and they would start "preparing for future violence immediately".
"A ceasefire always freezes any conflict in the state where it currently lies. And as we speak, that would leave Hamas with the infrastructure and the capabilities to carry out the sort of attack we saw on October 7," he adds.
"Attacks that are still ongoing. Hostages who should be released still held."
He believes a humanitarian pause is the "only credible approach" to the conflict and it should start "immediately".
"In fact it is at this moment, the only credible approach that has any chance to achieve what we all want to see in Gaza, the urgent alleviation of Palestinian suffering," he adds."

Her body is still missing though, isn't it? Certainly some of the testimonies coming out suggest that many suffered horrendously, some of which I rather I didn't know about. What I do think is happening is that Hamas and Palestinians are being morphed together and many thinking that by supporting the Palestinians is somehow meaning they support Hamas, or by supporting Hamas they are supporting the Palestinians. The atrocities were designed to be just that imo, to provoke Isreal, and they need to make sure they don't become what they are fighting against. It's not easy, and I don't envy those going out into combat. Whatever happens, there also needs to be a proper attempt to resurrect the peace plan. I believe her body has been recovered. Hopefully it was quick and her whole body can be returned to her family. Nobody should go through that ordeal. That goes for all.

Shani Louk is dead. That was the one that was raped and spat on and had her legs broken and a bullet wound at the back of her head. Pirate I think assured me through his unbiased media that she was still alive (as her mother hoped she was still alive) Perhaps you might question the motives and purpose of the media you are choosing to consume. I wonder if, being constructive, what is those supporting Hamas suggest Isreal do? Serious question. What should Isreal do? Her body is still missing though, isn't it? There’d be no point doing something like that. How would it bring in more money for the club? Yeah there’s 3/4 games a season where we might need the extra capacity. In that case spend the money on an actually nice North stand with bigger bars, restaurants and a larger capacity so you’ve got a 13 or 14k capacity. It’s so important we get the North and East stands right, I’d rather we waited longer, saved up transfer fees, grants and even fundraiser among fans if we ended up with a couple of stands to be proud of. I will join local residents and vote against any proposal to add north/south ‘add ons’ to the existing east stand Chernobyl structure - hopefully BCC will throw it out if plans are submitted based on this. A total ‘bodge up’ if this is the proposed way forward if as seems likely, the Memorial Stadium is to be our permanent home for generations to come. As you say this needs to be right - imo the east stand needs to be totally demolished - and I’m a current user. What is the internal structure like? I'm wondering if the main building itself can be retained and incorporated whilst removing the seats to blend in better, or are the seats integral to the whole stand?

"Granted, based on the current state of the structure, rejection would've led to serious complications." Does that mean starting it before approval actually benefited the planning application? Visionary! That's why I was asking, Rovers were vilified by some for starting first and being disrespectful, etc. In the end, did it really help approval and speed up the build process or is it more luck than judgement? Not that I'm taking this news for granted or suggesting we should repeat it, just wondering.

I think you've mis understood my question. I was wondering why this went straight to committee, rather than being called in like thr last one. You in particular were very angry at councillor Edwards for calling it in, but now are insisting it goes to committee. P.s I know I'm being a sh** stirring git so feel free to tell me to f**k off 👍 Can I do it? Wait your turn. 🤭

I'm surprised no one has come up with any drawings with there idea of the new memorial ground by now I mean the artist on this site I'm sure someone good at CAD could post a picture replicating the East stand each side. Could give a rough idea.

The actual cost can be set aside for the time being, it's the interest that needs servicing which is critical and that can be funded by the additional use. I don't really understand why it hasn't been done before though. Maybe I am being too simplistic? We lose 3M and have the potential to generate 3M. I know they have to be paid for, but why has no one even suggested it before these new owners? I presume that the intention was to move so little point in investing in the Mem or get third parties involved which muddied the waters. But I agree, the new South Stand should have been built years ago, especially when the rugby club moved and we got the additional space without the rugby run offs. Ideally we'd have also done it behind the Thatchers too. Imagine the benefit of 8,000 additional seats. 🤔

Grants? Sponsorship? Concourse? Never heard of any of that. South Stand will add 2,500, estimated cost, £300k plus to build? We already lose £3 mil per year. No way the new Stand will cover that. No mate, I'm on about the 3 stand project being talked about. The point I'm making is that lots of people are talking about non match day revenue, but if the new owners plans happen then at the very least we have the potential break even. As you say, we lose 3 Million a year, but 5,000 extra seats would generate at least that much and improve the ground. I can't see why people would bemoan that. The actual cost can be set aside for the time being, it's the interest that needs servicing which is critical and that can be funded by the additional use.

Maybe we could introduce a scheme where showing a valid public transport ticket could get a discount in the shop or a free tea or coffee.
