"A Russian court has banned LGBTQ groups from operating across the country and said gay activists should be classed as extremists. The Supreme Court in Moscow declared LGBTQ activists should be banned from taking part in campaigning in Russia, sparking fears gay people will be rounded up and thrown in jail. The landmark ruling today effectively outlawed LGBTQ activism, in another step Russian authorities have taken in recent years against gay, lesbian and transgender rights. The legal request was made by the justice ministry earlier this month, in a move to shut down those pushing for increased rights for the community. In the filing, it was claimed "signs and manifestations of an extremist nature" by an LGBTQ "social movement" had been discovered operating in Russia, including "incitement of social and religious discord". However, no evidence of this was submitted to the court as part of the government department's case." news.sky.com/story/russian-supreme-court-bans-the-whole-lgbtq-movement-and-brands-activists-extremists-13019582We're going back to the dark ages😕😕 Maybe they should wear pink triangles to show what they are. Funny, I swore some on here said the nazis were on the Ukrainian side.😶

Good to see the truce holding, just, and some of the hostages released.
In the meantime, HMS Diamond is deploying to the Gulf region, it's an air defence ship so may have something to do with the threat of missiles being fired, similar to the US ships recently.

I heard a rumour Karl Taylor turned us down to become a Monk. A heard a Monk turned us down to be a Tailor. Indeed, he had a bad habit, that's why.

That report is 18 months old and we've introduced inflation ourselves by increasing costs. Just think how much lower it could have been. Add into that sorting out infrastructure, such as gas storage facilities and keeping them topped up, rather than navel gazing. Well yeah. You mentioned Truss, Yatton waffled something about covid and Ukraine. So what if its 18 months old? It shows that inflation has risen all over the developed world for reasons that are probably linked one way or another. We aren't unique. Not unique in having inflation, but the extent and how we could have mitigated that. For example by not having self imposed trade barriers or ensuring our gas imports were properly topped up and weren't depleted, meaning we were exposed more than many of our European neighbours to the fluctuations in world prices.

Can't say I feel too comfortable writing off players.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, a new manager brings new ideas and man management styles, it should mean players start with a clean slate.

Perhaps, but how do we know? Leaks from those there. Were there minutes taken? The article itself confirms it was unusual to meet like this. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but it doesn't look good having Conservative leaning appointments meeting on the sidelines (nor would Labour if they were in office). Personally I think the BBC broadly gets it right, but they get a lot of flack from the right wing of the Conservatives and meetings like these do nothing to help with the perception of impartiality. I agree that in general the BBC mostly gets the correct balance - and a lot of what people think is pro-conservative is just down to the fact the Conservatives are in government at the moment. In general whenever over or underlying bias does rise to the surface it is nearly always pro-left/anti-Conservative, and that's just the nature of the people in the jobs where that bias can make it to the screen. I don't know if there are many centre-right media studies students in the UK but I bet that if there are any, they don't want a job/can't get a job at the BBC... Tim Davie also meets other groups all the time, including MPs from Labour, the Board of Deputies of British Jews, Parliamentary Select Committees, etc etc. What we have here is one accusation on twitter/X vs multiple journalists from a variety of sources quoting people who were actually there... We are broadly in agreement. Although I did notice this little 'dig' in your response. 😃 "nearly always pro-left/anti-Conservative" There are plenty on the far left who would accuse the BBC and others of being pro Conservative. Certainly as someone fairly central, even I found Laura K and Robert P went very easy on Boris. Buttering up their source, perhaps? If those on the right and those on the left are using 'MSM' in pejorative way, maybe it's about right.

Newsnight being clipped, how could that happen? ...maybe because no one watches it anymore (average audience in 2008 was 867,000, dropping to 579,000 by 2015 and just below 300,000 in 2020). Also the 1922 meeting was behind closed doors but there was plenty of coverage of how it went - coverage that doesn't support the claims in that tweet... Tim Davie addressed the committee of Tory MPs / Huff Po covered it here / Telegraph here Perhaps, but how do we know? Leaks from those there. Were there minutes taken? Without tempting fate, who would you want in Round 3 ? Sh!t away for me, Arsenal away for my misguided Gooner son. I'm probably in a minority but I wouldn't want City myself, either another lower league team and hope to progress or one of the big boys and get some good coverage before concentrating on the league. However, let's get there first. 🤞

Selected paragraphs from a Guardian article. "At an event in Brussels on Tuesday night, von der Leyen admitted that European leaders had “goofed up” over the departure of Britain from the bloc and suggested the younger generation could “fix” it. Asked if the UK could ever rejoin the EU, she replied: “I must say, I keep telling my children, ‘you have to fix it, we goofed it up, you have to fix it’. So I think here too, the direction of travel – my personal opinion – is clear.” There is no appetite in the EU to return to the toxicity of the Brexit years but Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, has repeatedly made clear he wants to improve relations, with further alignment on issues such as veterinary standards, which cover farm produce, fresh food, leather goods, fish and timber. The trade deal has a built-in facility to have a chapter on veterinary alignment that means the Brexit deal would not have to be “reopened” and would not need to be signed off by 27 EU leaders. However, well-informed sources in Brussels said it would be a “painful negotiation” that could take years to conclude. Senior business leaders and trade bodies have backed Starmer’s comments that Britain should not part from the European Union on standards ranging from the environment to employment." amp-theguardian-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/amp.theguardian.com/politics/2023/nov/29/sunak-rejects-von-der-leyens-comments-that-uk-could-rejoin-eu?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQGsAEggAID#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=17013003196717&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theguardian.com%2Fpolitics%2F2023%2Fnov%2F29%2Fsunak-rejects-von-der-leyens-comments-that-uk-could-rejoin-eu

Good news, should be all three imo. "England will get a new national park as part of a government set of "nature pledges" to give greater access and protection to the countryside. Natural England will consider a list of possible sites, which could include the Chilterns, the Cotswolds and Dorset. Setting up a new national park in England was a Conservative manifesto commitment and next year marks 75 years since the act of Parliament that allowed for their creation." www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-67538625

You mean like I mentioned the other week with the overworked and underpaid incompetent care workers? The ones Gulf said were the real benefit of why he voted Brexit? Yep that’s the ones . 👍🇬🇧 Great for British business owners who can exploit foreign workers. Win win ! Up the Brexit 🥳🥳🥳🥳 And then they moan when lots want to come here. 🙄

Very disappointed with the South Stand. Didn't hear one chant from them last night. Doesn't help the atmosphere. So generated more noise than usual?? 😁
