Devon mafia is funny to be fair. Both Kite and Hartridge are League One players, top 6 not so sure. Really nice lads the pair of them. Lets see if they sign and give them a few games before we start the pile on may I respectfully suggest. Oh yeah cracking players, not even in the starting 11 for Exeter… also the stats worry me when a defensive midfielder has 0 yellow cards… does the lad tackle? I fear this lad will be pushed off the ball with his physicality! HUGELY underwhelming signings if we end up with these two. Over the years haven’t we learnt that it’s best not to judge players we sign until they actually play for us? JCH springs to mind, I’m sure there are others. Atm we haven’t signed anyone so a tad premature to moan about players we haven’t signed. UTG!

Wasn’t a fan of Finlay. He did always put the effort in but would pick Liam sercombe over Finlay all day long ( if we were to go for that age) Different players playing different roles in team. UTG!

ps. I hope this thread is going to include all the transfer speculation and actual news this summer. I hope the others can be merged into this one. It seems to be the most popular. Once a player signs then they can get own thread but until ….

Good list percy. Eyoma from Lincoln not on it but he’s been released and I’d have thought he’d be worth considering. Apart from that Ekpetita stands out. The other player not mentioned and it’s strikers we want is Tshimanga. Was on fire two seasons ago with Chesterfield, went to Posh I think but sent out on loan this season which wasn’t a success. I think he’s been released by Posh. I don’t know if his form has fallen off a cliff or the injury he had has really affected him. Either way…. Apart from that Conn-Clarke, I’d get Aguilera back on loan if possible and see about Will Evans. Not sure about Tolaj or Curtis, but if we did I’d get used to it and think we’d done well. Despite losing the 12 players (?) we need to supplement with quality not just quantity. Seems like Kite and Hartridge may be coming which will supplement the squad. Glad we’ve not gone for JCH or even Lee Gregory. Another player to add to the list of players we should have got 10 years ago when he left Halifax.

How though? Are you saying that all contact between the ball and the hand should be a foul? That's the only thing not open to interpretation in hand ball - the contact. Perhaps the old offside rules should be bought back. Two players have to be between the attacker and goal when ball is played. Any anywhere across the pitch. No phases, no in keepers eyeline or not, no interfering with play, to many subjective things at moment. The ruling bodies think fans want to see more goals, while some of us admire good defence. Indeed. The Brian Clough school of thought: if he’s on the field of play of course he’s interfering with it. There is no such thing as not interfering with play. Why is he there otherwise. BC of course put it much blunter than this! UTG!

Far more important not to have games decided by illegitimate goals and getting more important decisions correct than delay celebrations IMO. VAR is a great system being run by idiots - once they sort out the idiots and stop people from IFAB constantly tinkering with rules and interpretations it will all be good. It is here to stay in football and all other top level sports. I agree completely eric. We will face VAR in all international competitions and when we have it there it seems to work ok. I saw VAR used several times in the Australian A League and all was well. The most important thing is to make the right decision and VAR helps do that in most cases. All the controversial decisions have come form the VAR officials making errors, not VAR itself, the same people who the following week will be the on-field ref. Quicken up the decision making and let the game run smoothly and only refer where there is a ‘clear and obvious error.’ Some of these refs need as much help as possible. And of course getting rid of VAR won’t change the managers from complaining about referees, decisions and anything else they use to shift the blame from themselves. UTG!

Having seen and remembered the matches between John Bond and Rovers back in the 70s and seen Kevin emerge as a decent player then a very good player and then in the noughties many of his games as AFCB manager it’s just reminded me of how old I am!! A very decent man with a vast experience of football. Probably a better coach than manager which is why so many other people trusted him and respected him to work for them.
Good luck to him in whatever he turns his hand to next. 👏👏👏

Max Dean from MK Dons worth a punt? Now franchise MK have been totally spanked out of the playoffs and remain in the 4th tier next term. Maybe. But not his best game last night. He’s certainly got a competitive streak and was one of the few MKD players to give Crawley any trouble last night. UTG!

For me it’s simple, get JCH in early we’re probably be top 10 or close without him or someone like him we are going to have a season of struggle that’s just my opinion UTG From what the owners keep saying they don't want us to be a top 10 side nor "buy" promotion, it seems an odd business plan to not try and pack the Mem now we have a reasonable ground capacity. Every team ‘buys’ promotion. It’s just a question as to whether they put the future financial well-being of the club at risk or whether they do it affordably. I suspect Wrexham may try to ‘buy’ promotion but they will be able to afford to do it. Others may try to do it without being able to afford it. Which may include us. But the owners have said that it won’t be us so that may give some indication of a limit on expectation. UTG!

Blimey! In the MKD v Crawley match it’s hard to know who were worse MKD or the officials. 3 Crawley goals offside, missed by the linesman, a pen for MKD not given and when they actually got a penalty half the Crawley team in the box when he missed. Just reminded me how bad the officials in Div 4 are. UTG! Which 3 goals were offside?? I missed the last 2, but I thought the first 3 were on side? Last two were offside. Close, but just offside. I thought one of the others was as well but I may be wrong. Trying to watch the match and Eurovision which was gripping! 😉 UTG!

Bored and wishing i was in a pub garden, so here's my not ITK stab at the kinda team we could see next season. Spending some of the cash from Collins and (if it happens) Evans, but mixed with youth and current crop to keep within budgets. Other than keeper and maybe Baggott, there are no loans here yet but would expect 2 or 3 more and the likes of Brown, McCormick and maybe more being loaned the other way. ------------------31. L Vigouroux ------5. J Wilson---17. C Taylor---4. E Baggott 11. L Thomas--21. H Kite--8. G Ward--6. K Conteh--3. R Adebisi ------------------10. W Evans ------------------------9. L. Tolaj SUBS 1. J Ward 2. J Connolly 30. L Hoole 43. J Lawrence 37. K Shaw 18. C Martin 7. S Sinclair Decent effort and probably fair accurate, although I must admit, this side looks no better than last season. …but also perhaps no worse.🤔 A decent effort esp as it’s only early May. Long way to go yet. UTG!

Too many doomongers on here! No one knows what will happen before it happens. We are about to start a recruitment process with a new team of staff and I can completely understand everyone’s concern about next season. But just like the past 50/60 seasons we have to wait and see who we recruit. I’ve got to be optimistic and trust those to build a decent squad ready for August. It’s the way it’s been for years. The big difference now is that we have forums for people refresh 20 times a day to catch up with nothing happening. People on here demand something to happen and if it doesn’t happen it must be bad news. It’s almost as if it’s got to be either fantastic or awful when in truth we will be average, just like this season.

Yes, that’s a very good example. I doubt OC would have downed sticks like so many did in ‘21 and this season gone. What is it they say? Treat people the way you’d like to be treated. Football is a very different matter I know but how you treat people is relevant in every aspect of business. Including football. UTG! Notice that Ollie is out of contract having led Mansfield to promotion. I bet he's not on anyone's radar, but I'd definitely welcome OC back to the Mem.
Alfie Kilgour is still under contract, but JJ O'Toole has been released. WYHHB?
Yes, possibly a good call. I guess it depends on where he wants to live at this stage. I bet DC at Cheltenham will have at least a conversation with him to see his intentions. UTG!

It's also worth noting the clubs treatment of Ollie Clarke. 271 appearances for the club, two time player of the year, over a decade service and he was given a derisory contract offer and no goodbye. I don't really think we can get too uppity about the Lockyer situation after the way the club treated Clarke. Yes, that’s a very good example. I doubt OC would have downed sticks like so many did in ‘21 and this season gone. What is it they say? Treat people the way you’d like to be treated. Irrespective of what fans said, in the two years before he left he was clearly an important part of the team and plenty good enough and seeing him go for nothing was poor. Yet tbf to the club we are told that they offered to renew his contract on several occasions but he was determined to go. We got nothing. MT signed a short term deal and we got £300k as opposed to £0 and MT gets pelters every time. TL, I think, had a long term plan which he stuck to and we lost out. For clarity I loved TLs time with us and have admired his climb up the leagues and have great sympathy for what’s happened but I’ve often shaken my head at the comparison of our treatment of both players. And before anyone comes back at me I do understand the anger over those few days in Jan ‘17 and who he went to. UTG! A rare example of a footballer having a brain! Yes, probably. UTG!
