Outside of L1, notable mentions go to FGR £266k and York £128k in agent fees. F*@& me. Someone's taken Dale for a ride with that. They have! But I expect £265,999.99 went on Troy Deeney. UTG!

Jesus imagine Barrow in League 1, what a dump! Perhaps but it would be a far better story than Wrexham getting promotion (yawn). And a far bigger achievement. Not that the media would say so, with their obsession with celebrity. Pete Whild, their manager has done a great job. And I remember seeing them against us in Feb ‘22, we beat them 1-0 at the Mem but it took a worldie from Anthony Evans to beat them. I hope they do it but then I hope FGR avoid going out of the league and am pleased for Yeovil to be back on the way up. Their rivalry with us was just a reminder of how crap we were, not of how good they were. And that was uncomfortable!. UTG!

Can we get behind our new manager now and stop this fickle knee jerk rubbish that’s the question. I’ve got to say I was surprised so many wanted him out after he’s steadied the ship pretty well in what has been a very turbulent season. We could still finish in the top half so let’s get behind him and the squad, help them to a decent finish, watch England win the Euros and look forward to next season. This. 👍👍👍 I read the thread but didn’t vote. The guy has to be given the time. UTG!

I see Torquay have been deducted 1 point for fielding an illegible player.Huge game for them tonight away to Taunton town, win and they are safe but a loss will see Taunton leapfrog them and Torquay will drop into the last relegation place with just 1 game left to play. Yes. A busy week for Taunton, 3 games in 5 days, tonight, Thursday and Saturday. UTG!

Blimey. I follow Taunton Town but wouldn’t presume to call myself a fan. They have 3 games in 5 days to save their NLS position which looks a tad unlikely. I don’t think MS can do too much harm in that time! But to be fair to him he should bring value to the directors of the club which tbh looks to have grown very quickly beyond the infrastructure they had before. Good luck to him and Taunton.

I don’t know if we’ve seen the last of him or not but it seems likely. My benchmark for us is always Division 3, it’s the least we should be. Although this century younger fans may have a ‘lower’ benchmark considering where we’ve been for many seasons. Sam Finley came to us when we’d just had an awful relegation and the whole team and manager had given up well before we were actually down. With Paul Coutts and various others he helped get us back first time, something we don’t usually do when relegated to the bottom league. Others scored and created the goals that got us promotion but he was an important part of the team and when he played well he was excellent. When MT came in this season he had a real purple patch and looked even better under MT. But since the Norwich match like everyone else it’s got worse. Don’t know why but it seems like something happened or perhaps it was just a natural ending. Whatever, hes been one of the consistently good players imo, over his three years. A promotion and two worry-free seasons from relegation in League. That hasn’t happened too many times this century. Reading this thread it doesn’t seem too many will be sad to see Sam Finley go which I can kind of understand. His performances have dipped down like the rest of the team which makes me think something has happened / been said or even agreed. But I’m always aware of being careful what you wish for. Trolls changed his team after two decent consolidated seasons in 2010 losing a lot of solid players who’d done well. We got relegated in 2011. DC in 2018 after two decent seasons had to make changes from his trusted teams. We didn’t replace with better players and by December he’d gone and by 2021 we were relegated. I’m not saying this will happen this time because circumstances are different. I hope MT will be allowed to bring his own players in and we can consolidate at least next season. Whatever thanks Sam. Your commitment on the pitch has been appreciated. We’ve had 7 promotions and you were part of one of them. Some of our legends didn’t manage that! You helped return us to where we should always at least be. 👏👏👏 UTG! I won`t be sad to see him move on. Nonetheless, you make his case most eloquently. Fair enough WW. I didn’t intend to speak for him or make his case. All I did was say how I saw it after 3 years when we are in a far better position than the Summer of ‘21. Imo of course. 😉

The best teams in league 1 mix it up. But one thing that stands out to me at league 1 and 2 level is how much pace matters. If you haven’t got at least a couple of strikers or wingers or attacking mids in the squad running at people scaring the life out of defenders and get them running back towards their own goal then it’s unlikely you make top 6. All defenders hate playing against pace but in the owner leagues they S£it themselves. And not just the lower leagues socrates. On Saturday I went to the AFCB v Man U match and AFCB usually play out from the back. Suddenly they were getting the ball out wide to full backs or wide players as quickly as possible straight from the keeper and Man U couldn’t deal with it. Their full backs gave the AFCB players so much space to run into it was untrue. Quick 1-2s saw them by-pass the Man U midfield and defenders. Should have been 4-1 up at HT not just 2-1. And of course Man U got the pen and scraped a 2-2. My point being that AFCB saw the amount of space at the back that they just got the ball forward asap for their quick players to run at Man U. Should have won handsomely. Whatever, Ten Haag was out thought by Iraola. As to us, it’s why Luke Thomas running at defences is one of our strongest plays. If the opposition press forward they are vulnerable to him running at them. Another player or more with pace would be an area to strengthen in the window. UTG!

SACK!!! I have absolutely no confidence in him what so ever, reminds me to much of Garner Poor BG, his career has fallen off a cliff over the past two years. He suffered because van shufflehof had a disastrous home game when it was pouring down against JB and Fleetwood. WAQ lost his nerve, put two and two together, sacked BG appointed Tis before losing his nerve again and appointing JB. UTG!

Thanks Sir T, great research. But DC won two of his matches when he took over before we dropped out of league didn’t he? Morecambe home, his first match and Wycombe away penultimate match of season.

I thought we announced that the FM was not happening. Not that it was. I agree with you about the South Stand but the announcement of the FM happening was much earlier surely? That was my point. UTG! 6th of April 2023 was when they released a silly little video and a statement that they wanted someone else to build a stadium for them. Last year. Ok. But the original announcement of the FM was much, much earlier wasn’t it? UTG!

6th April we announced the FM then the south stand on the 12th ish if I remember right. At the time it seemed like a simple temporary stand but looking back with what we know now it all seems a bit comical! I thought we announced that the FM was not happening. Not that it was.
