Well, I've been reading this lot for the last hour, having seen the match this afternoon and realised how bad our defending is since we went to a back 3. The difference today was that we didn't have both Ogogo and Grant on the field covering for some of the mistakes of the back 3 and no matter what you say about Westbrooke, he doesn't tackle back like either of the other two (or even McCormick) so he shouldn't be picked as one of the two in front of the back four. I think, like most of you (?), we should go back to a 4-4-2 (actually 4-3-1-2) with McCormick, Ogogo, Grant and Ozzy and play Nicholson and Hanlon up front. I think Baldwin and Kilgour should play in the middle and Williams and Leahy at FB. I still think, as Sam Frost said "Rovers risk sleepwalking to relegation unless they act in transfer market" and our wonderful 'recruitment team' seem incapable of bringing in a striker in this window. Although Daly may well bring us some goals, he is not the answer to our problem. Hanlon is on the edge of burnout (you can almost see it the way he's playing now!) and I'm afraid Ayunga is not a replacement. Thanks GGMI, I'm actually glad you took this one as I might have been tempted after Peterborough, but my home match threads have been pretty dire! Maybe I'll try again on Tuesday??

Ignore - Come on Jester the stage is yours! Sorry GHB, I'm sh*t for the home fixtures, so GGMI can continue with those and I was fast asleep when he was poised at the keyboard! 😁 I'm going for a hopeful win if Hanlan, Ozzy and Nicholson are all fit, but suspect it may possibly be a (high scoring) draw if Rochdale play their usual open style. Always an interesting read, even if I didn't agree, but a very sad loss. Deepest condolences to all family and friends. R.I.P. Brian.

Great performance by the defensive midfield two of Ogogo & Grant, they nullified the Posh midfield so they were forced to go long to JCH and our back 3 kept him quiet!

Great performance by Abu and Grant in midfield. Nullified all Posh's midfield threat and the back 3 kept JCH quiet all match!

Everything points to a comfortable home win but we have to hope this is one of those games which would wreck a pools coupon! if, as all the experts predict, we get well beaten, lets not have another melt down eh? we put the very hard run of games behind us and look forward to picking up points from the next few games. Come on Rovers ,confound the critics and give us a performance to be proud of, come on Gas!! Wish I could be so confident? I really hope we don't get tonked tonight. Please PT put out a side that gives us a chance!!

Nobody else wants to take the hit, but I will, I'm a sucker like that. My head says 3-0 to Posh with JCH getting at least 2 'A la Snakey'. Heart says we'll sneak a 1-1, or 0-0 draw. Hope springs eternal, but it's the hope that kills you!

Yes it was sh*te!! Yes we had a crap team! yes we can.t defend!, Yes we need a defensive coach! Yes we need another striker!! But do we need another manager?? Everybody was praising PT after Wimbledon and Plymouth, but as soon as we lost Nicholson, Daly and Oztumer, we haven't had a clue up front. I think most would agree that and if we're not scoring more than the opposition with our defence at the moment, we're in big trouble!

I have taken heed of GGMI's special request and have taken it upon myself to relieve him of his duties for this game (albeit 4.5 hours early) I have never started a thread before, and I am not waiting up till midnight to start this one, so please take it easy on me. I have started this thread on the basis that I have never fancied our chances at the Kassam Stadium but have been there on a number of occasions and have only ever seen us win. Fingers crossed that my luck holds out and we get to see another famous victory. PS Another reason for starting this thread is that I have just taken receipt of a BJ "Special Hamper" and have already drunk my way through half of it!!!!!!! Good luck mate, despite my dismal performance at Crewe, I was thinking of doing another. Like you, I've not seen us lose at Poxford for around 5 years, but we're not going to be there this year and I took that as a bad omen. Suspect a loss, unless we get Ozzy back today to give us the creativity we need. Hope PT doesn't drop Alfie, but suspect that he will play Ehmer and Baldwin in the centre? Can't see anything other than a loss here if Ozzy not playing and the snake scoring!😢

Thought for a few minutes I thought the boys might have rescued my thread, but sadly no. Too many goals conceded by poor marking from free kicks needlessly given away. Ehmer in the FB role is far too slow getting back and hasn't got the ability to get a telling ball into the box when he goes forward. Hanlon was giving them some problems, but too often he was on his own, I think if Daly or Nicholson was there it would be different, but he needs someone to play off him. Ayunga isn't the answer. We need another front man urgently! We also need a quick defender and I think we have just loaned out the player we needed to fit in at the back? Without both we are in another relegation scrap. Hope Ozzy is back for the weekend? We need at least him back to have any chance. I'll have a little break before I do another thread now. All yours GGMI!

Someone set the alarm early! fair play Jester, hope the team is as determined as you! Hard to call this one so i closed my eyes and all i could see was Paul Miller scoring the winner , 2-1 Rovers !! Actually, binge watching a box-set and when I looked at the clock, thought, 'I wonder if GGMI has done the match thread'? It seems he has been a little reluctant/hesitant recently and decided that it was about time for my return to the away matchday thread after my last success at the Wombles! I guess it's all downhill from there?

I like Oztumer, and I'm glad he'll be back in the team, but he's not done enough in a Rovers shirt to warrant the title 'The Turkish Messi'. Isn't he from Cyprus anyway? Hoping for a more attacking performance tonight, but Crewe are a good side, unbeaten in 8 league games. I think a draw would be a good result. One plus is that their Captain Perry Ng has agreed to join Cardiff so probably won't play tonight I think he was born in the UK WHG, but he started his career in Turkey and was nicknamed 'The Turkish Messi' by the Walsall fans. I heard it when he had some great performances against us in 2017/18 and scored quite a few goals, which is why I remember it. Has shown that form in glimpses so far (Wombles away!) and am hoping he can get back to that sort of form consistently. If that happens, we could have competition if we want him from Charlton at the end of the season.
