van Stappershoef 6 - distribution poor but otherwise ok
Menayese 6.5 - best game for a few weeks Craig 6.5 - reasonable Kilgour 6.5 - reasonable
Rodman 6 - good at times but under a lot of pressure defensively Upson 5.5 - tried hard but exposed by our system as the only defensive midfielder Sercombe 6.5 - I think in the formation he had a more defensive role but doesn't know how to defend. Seemed to take every deadball situation and therefore covered a large amount of ground. could not fault the effort. However number of poor free kicks and corners. A few penetrating runs though and looked our most dangerous player. Leahy 5 - poor
Barrett 4.5 - looked lost and overweight Hargreaves 4 - tried hard nut totally ineffective
Clarke-Harris 5.5 - moody and always a threat but lacked quality
Subs: Reilly 6 - we certainly improved when he came on and looked to have a point to prove Holmes-Dennis nole Mitchell-Lawson nole
Crowd 4 Ref 6 Doncaster 8 - seemed tactically to know what they were doing. Always seem to play well against us. Was a marked contrast to us where the system seemed confused and inadequate.

van Stappershoef 7 - some good saves, could possibly have done better with the goals
Menayese 5 - some good moments but many mistakes Craig 6.5 - good at times but back three were in a mess on a number of occasions Kilgour 6 - some mistakes
Rodman 6.5 - looked a threat Upson 6.5 - battled hard, unlucky when hitting the post, lack of pace from a standing start was exposed on a number of occasions Sercombe 6.5 - good at times but failed to make a difference Leahy 5 - poor display defensively and should of done better with late chance
Nichols 4 - tried hard but not much worked for him Clarke-Harris 6 - battled hard and was a nuisance. Control poor throughout. Hargreaves 7.5 - worked his socks off and got into some good positions
Subs: Bennett 5.5 - some good moments but also not very effective Holmes-Dennis 5.5 - looked rusty Adeboyejo nole
Crowd 6 - good Coventry support but didn't like looking at empty terraces Ref 5 Coventry 7 - a good side but need to be better at the back to get promotion

Jaakkola NOLE
Menayese 4.5 - great prospect but needs a break from the side (if we had a replacement) Craig 4.5 - great player but at his age needs a short rest after so many high intensity games Kilgour 5 - best of a poor back three
Rodman 5 - defensively poor and did not do a lot going forward Upson 5 - in some games his lack of pace is more clear than others. Evident against MK Dons Ogogo 5 - clearly not fit Sercombe 5.5 - not involved as much as usual Leahy 5 - poor all round but tried hard and made two good goal line clearances
Nichols 6 - Played very well in first half but faded badly Clarke-Harris 5 - clearly not match fit. Had poor first touch and looked very frustrated
Subs: van Stappershoef 4 - did not inspire any confidence Hargreaves 5 - looked lively at times but still not convinced that he can thrive in League 1 Bennett 5 - did not make a significant difference
Crowd 5 - hard to believe that there was more than 8,000 in the stadium Ref 5 MK 6.5 - outplayed us. They did not look like a bad side at the Mem earlier in the season but had a lot of strikers injured. Thought at the time that if they had someone who could score goals for them they would rapidly move up the table.

Jaakkola 6 - a couple of good saves but should of done better for the first goal by pushing it away from danger. Clearly been told by the manager to kick less but towards to the end may have been better with route one.
Menayese 5- poor game. Numerous mistakes but doesn't seem fazed by them and hopefully will learn quickly. Craig 5.5 - worst game for a long time. Looked off the pace. Kilgour 6 - best of the back three
Rodman 5.5 - defensively poor Upson 7 - looked good at times but poor clearance which helped set up the winner Ogogo 5 - played on the right side and not very effective. His injury clearly hampered his up and at 'em style Sercombe 6.5 - looked good at times. He was far better against Peterborough though. In that game he was playing more through the middle. Stuck on the left side against Dons. Leahy 7 - Good game. Had lots of space and got up and down the pitch well
Nichols 7 - Tom had a good game apart from being unable to take a couple of chances in the first half. Surprised he came off as far more effective than the other strikers Clarke-Harris 6.5 - clearly not match fit and touch poor at times but his presence alone makes a big difference
Subs: Adeboyejo 4 - missed one good chance and was not effective Smith 3 - didn't notice that he was on the pitch Bennett NOLE
Crowd 6 - a bit flat Ref 5 Wimbledon 6 - will stay up as their two strikers will get them enough goals. We should of won easily though. Rovers seemed to have been told to always play out from the back. Time will tell if they are good enough to do so effectively. Laid back style of the manager will take some getting used to. Too soon to judge but could of done with more up and at 'em passion at the end.

Jaakkola 8 - a few mistakes but some vital saves
Menayese 7.5 - quite a few errors but never panicked and often redeemed the situation. Still on a learning curve. Craig 9.5 - immense - should be captain Kilgour 8.5 - continues to impress
Rodman 8 - a constant threat in attack and some good defensive work as well Upson 7.5 - a hardworking performance Clarke 6.5 - tried hard and did show some glimpses of his old form. 99% of the time would have been sent off for a second yellow caused by a lack of concentration. Sercombe 8 - played in his best position. Was imposing and mark would of been higher if it was not for his wayward shooting. Leahy 7.5 - steady performance
Nichols 7.5 - showed good control and effort Smith 6 - tried and has pace but needs to do better
Subs: Clarke-Harris 6.5 - clearly not fit but does make a difference when he is on the pitch Adeboyejo 6
Crowd 9 - great atmosphere Ref 6 - not as bad as others thought Peterborough 7 - good bet for promotion

If Wael does not want to finally destroy totally any relationship that he has with the fans he should avoid Steve Cotterill at all cost. Attendances and morale will drop to an all time low if he is appointed.

Jaakkola 7
Menayese 9 Commanding won everything in the air that came his way and showed good skill on the ground Craig 8.5 Led the back line well and won everything in the air Kilgour 8.5 Very solid and good in the air
Rodman 8 very good all round performance Upson 7.5 Clarke 7 Sercombe 7.5 Leahy 8 great defensively
Nichols 7.5 took his goal well and battled very hard. Still slightly out-muscled but no complaints over his performance Smith 7.5 showed great pace and troubled their centre backs constantly. Good finish with his goal and unlucky to have a header saved
Subs: Adeboyejo 6.5 battled well Tomlinson battled well
Crowd 9 - great noise throughout from the Gasheads Ref 4 Ipswich 6 very disappointing in the final third and looked slow and vulnerable in the middle of the defence
At the end of the game with players and GC celebrating with the fans, for the first time, I was starting to believe that GC could get us promotion. Then as the news re GC filtered through to fans in the Punch and Judy pub after the game it felt very flat, the possible disruption of a new management team and possibly dire financial news to come out of the club, it felt like a typical Bristol Rovers fan experience of being let-down

Stuart Taylor was one of my favorite players. Good tribute at the match but could not understand why the match announcer kept referring to him as "Taylor" and not Stuart or Stuart Taylor. Made him sound remote as opposed to a much loved son of the Gas.

Jaakkola 7.5 - his brilliant first half save stopped the comeback being a step too far
Little 5 - terrible first half. Was constantly berating others for his mistakes. Got forward better in the second half but still could not kick a ball properly. Craig 6 - poor first half, good second half Kilgour 6 - same as Craig
Rodman 6.5 - was very threatening at times in the second half Upson 6 - poor until his great goal Ogogo 6.5 - looked lost in the first half but good after the break and took his goal well Sercombe 6.5 good at times Leahy 6 - quiet game
Nichols 6 - started very well but faded badly and looked disinterested for the rest of the first half. Second half was good although he should of scored right after the break but lacked the confidence to hit the ball first time. Not sure why substituted as when playing well has done better than the other two back up strikers. Clarke-Harris 6.5 - Poor in the first half but well up for it after the break
Subs: Adeboyejo 5 Smith 4 Hargreaves NOLE
Crowd 6 - Disappointingly small Ref 6 Southend 6 - Brilliant first half. No other team this season has ripped us apart so easily. Should of been four or five up at the break. Second half showed that if you put them under pressure they are actually quite poor.

TW's view not compatible with the heart and soul of the club. Doing a good job but should not be in it if he does not understand and buy into the club culture.

5 points deduction but suspended so effectively no points deduction. I wish no club ill but this is unbelievable. How can you postpone a game which you would have possibly lost 5-0, play it later with new players and possibly win, and get away with no points deducted. Potentially you can be three points better off and a better goal difference by postponing a match. Not to mention the injustice to the opponents.
Very upset about this.

Jaakkola 7.7 - some very good saves but not totally commanding
Davies 5.5 - going through a shaky patch Craig 5 - at fault for the second goal Kilgour 5 - lost his way a bit but will come good again
Rodman 7 - extra mark for the goal. Should consider playing him up front as he is the best forward in the air excluding JCH and will score more goals in a season than Smith, Nicholls and Victor combined Upson 6 - inconsistent Ogogo 8.5 - amazing workrate and ball winning ability. Rapidly becoming my favourite player Clarke 5 - clearly not match fit. Hopefully we will get the benefit later of playing him into fitness Leahy 5.5 - silly push for the goal and crossing not great. However still currently the best option at left wingback
Smith 5 - good pace but too lightweight Adeboyejo 5.5 - a few good moments and hopefully with game time will get better
Subs: Sercombe 7 - we need him in the three man midfield Little NOLE Bennett NOLE
Crowd 7 Ref 6 Portsmouth 6

van Stappershoef 7 - not much to do but looked assured and very much in control
Davies 9 - great in defence, a good goal and foiled for another by a great save Craig 8.5 - big mistake by GC not to give him the arm band at the start of the season Kilgour 8.0 - a few mistakes but generally solid and a great prospect
Rodman 7 - did an adequate job. Great thing is that he has proven ability to be better still Ogogo 8 - great energy. Missed one good chance but his ball winning ability is one of the best in this league Upson 8- very assured performance Sercombe 7.5 - adds something when played in this role that we lack with OC Leahy 7 - looked solid and crossing good
Nichols 6 - tried hard and had some impact. However knocked off the ball very easily on numerous occasions and we could have paid for his misses. Smith 6.5 - great pace and skill. Was a bit lightweight and tired in the second half
Subs: Bennett 6.5 - was ok but has the ability to play a lot better Hargreaves 6 - one great driving run but looked a bit lost at times. Will get better with more game time Adeboyejo 6.5 - did ok but nothing spectacular
Crowd 7 - good atmosphere but still need to be at least 8,000 to give support needed Ref 7 - whistled very late a number of times which was confusing but overall did well MK 5 - never looked like scoring despite some good possession and passing. Will struggle until they get a goal scorer.

Following the results closely as I do with any Rovers teams. How many clubs get promoted and what league would they go to next.

Really sad news. Never met Dave but have hugely enjoyed his posts and clear passion for the club over the years. Does hit home and make you wonder how many of us older gasheads will ever see the dream of a decent new stadium be fulfilled.
RIP
