Id be outraged if i was a rugby fan, one thing being bought by a billionaire, fair enough, but to completely re brand them is a joke. If they were more successful in the premiership then they would have a better fan base, the thing is with Rugby half the teams in the second division are almost amateur filled with college teams. Watching it would be like watching Barcelona play the sh** every week. If our Beloved owner changed our name (and i know he won't) to Bristol Sport (Rovers) section, i would be going bonkers with them, Can't see many of funny shaped ball lovers going bonkers..... A step too far ,that would be the end of my love of the rovers

“]Ain't the avon packet sposed to have a bear pit, “ The Packet was my local for 10+ years before I moved away and the “bear pit” is just an access area to the cellar, so a nickname. Don’t think the building is old enough for performing bears! IPG cheers for that fella ,i thought it might have happened as im sure they had bear baiting in the hatchet

BB that post is in no way racist ,it specifically mentions religion not race ,islam has never nor will ever be a race it will always be a religion ,i wont eat halal as i have an issue with meat being slaughtered in the name of god Hatred of a religion knowing full well that most muslims are BAME is racist to me. The meat is slaughtered for food. and therein lies the problem ,why is it so difficult for people like yourself to differentiate between religion and race ,halal(permitted) is slaughtered to eat in the name of god (bismilla) according to a set of rule laid down in that religion not quite so just for food is it ,are you by chance religious christian ,muslem or jewish etc ,if you are (serious question) then your answer is very hypocritical , as i've said before i wont eat halal as i'm not religious and won't eat meat killed in the name of god wether it be halal or kosher as it offends me ,so i guess in your rather distorted view i'm a racist too. I suggest maybe in future before calling others racist you actually learn to tell the difference between racism and religion it really isn't that difficult

I can't see the site is much bigger than the Mem. Are we sure we aren't including the Muller Road Rec in there, which certainly won't be part of the deal? if you look at the site if you imagine the club house ,changing rooms and otherr bit are removed the site become much bigger

Shame that a famous club like Bristol Rugby club has had its heart and soul ripped out and become another play thing for a plastic franchise. Changing the name and home colours, Embarrassing really. not unexpected though, i though his ego would have called em ,the dog first 15

This thread has become embarrassing. It started off as a reasoned debate about an important topic, but has now become a slanging match. Doesn't reflect too well on us. Any debate of this type will always drift as lo and behold people have differing views ,some are passionate etc. just skim the parts you don't feel are relevant. I have asked for a new forum in general on several occasions where people can have a dig at one another ,but it's yet to appear

Massive sellout job here, if anything they have lost their identity. what happened to the Rugby club that loved playing a war memorial site - when it suits them aye. A Bear is probably quite easy to market that the only reason i can think of for choosing bears. Bears are big and strong and kids also like bears. But WTF does a bear have to do with Bristol? Ain't the avon packet sposed to have a bear pit, bristol rugby club used to be called the shoguns a while back

Racists will always find reasons to oppose attempts at encouraging more diversity at football matches. They will also claim their not racists when everyone including themselves know full well they are. They will talk of political correctness gone mad which means they yearn for the good old days of being able to express their racism in the open. Well done rovers for openly encouraging and setting up this debate its fantastic. You trot this out everytime anyone dares question the status quo ,it's a worrying trend that prevails in conversations these days you disagree with someone oh lets call em racist ,as you were previously asked to name people ,stop posting in tongues for once just say who you are referring too and allow them the courtesy of responding ,you do this continually make accusations and then go silent. by doing this i do wonder about your leftist bent are you sure you don't lean far to the right

Think it's safe to say this thread has ran it's course and is now about something else, any chance it can be moved? Nah ,tis good to see opposing views on any discussion ,tis also the same old scenario if your views differ from the majority you are soon called a racist etc ,it's like that god awful leftie poster from years back has become a mantra on how to live ,you know that old if your not part of the solution you are the problem bollix ,which immediately states to everyone that you must agree with the herd. People have tried to compare today to the 80/90's in this thread ,well quite frankly if you can't see how things have changed since then i can lend you some of my loony pills. People will only attend events that interest them ,tis easy to say there arn't enough other cultures attending matches so that club must be racist but in reality there are less and less people attending today as they arn't interested a few of my friends who are younger than me just can't understand why i love the club or why i love football ,in the same way is i will never understand why people play golf or cricket and understand even less why people watch those sports,i used to love watching rugby but lost interest when the game became professional as it just din't appeal anymore. As i said before i believe football was a working class thing right into the 80's ,sh** week ,1/2 day sat to pay for the beers and footie, back to pub n home ,it was the way it was ,that passion although still evident in lesser amounts seems to be dwindling overall ,the game has changed forever since money arrived in it ,along with peoples way of life, back when i was a teenager football was one of the only releases we had no mobile phone ,no internet, no gaming consoles or even home computers ,so from monday on you couldn't wait for saturday to arrive to get the excitement you craved as a release to life. Nowadays a lot of people want instant gratification apart from us who in their right minds would pay to watch our club ,when for less than entry for a season with us they can watch what games they want when they want on the goggle box without any effort. A lot less disabled people attend games today ,than did in the past ,for those old enough remember all the invalid carriages at Eastville , can mobility scooters get into the mem easy enough as i haven't got a clue ,are those catered for during the 1st half, are the club asking them if they need food or beverages during 1/2 time and taking it to them ,

The most crucial arms sale of the falklands war was the americans providing us with the brilliant latest version of the sidewinder missile used to deadly effect by sea harriers in that conflict. Good point BB ,it just winds i up when so called allies give our enemies weapons, although the reality is we play that game too ,but it still galls. Although our troops are one of if not the best in the world when it comes to actually fighting rather than the yank approach of bomb the sh** out of it and wait for us to go in on foot ,one of the best examples of this was i think in iraq where the yanks were stopped on a bridge closely grouped firing blindly ,then as i recall we went in on foot and sorted it , as for the Falklands not many countries could do what we did
