Gerry Francis changed Carl Saunders from a full back to a successful out and out forward, he also changed Ian Alexander from a winger to a full back so perhaps the same can be done with Mr Tutonda.

Sadly, I can't remember who the opposition were in my first game - would have been 1963/64 season and an evening game as my Dad worked on Saturdays. Favourite memories would have been those League Cup runs of the early 70's. The game always seemed quicker and more dramatic under lights. All time favourite would be Harold (I was too young to see the 50's team). It was the evening game against Bradford City, 4-2 I think, when Harold scored a hat trick and went towards the North Stand (who for some reason had always given him a bit of stick) to milk the acclaim. I think that's when the 'Harold' chants started. Harold was different class even towards the end of his career when I watched him, but my favorites will always be Alan and Bruce even after all this time. Mind you Ricky Lambert stands out as a favorite in later years. Oh and never forget Gary Mabutt at Eastville too! He was so underated with us he had the nickname Muppet!!!! Muppet Mabutt 'cause of how he ran I think. Yet he captained Spurs and played 16 times for England. Strange how he is never thought of as a Rovers legend.

The 73/74 season and the last game V Brighton with thousands on the pitch celebrating promotion Who can forget the Ashman's removal van doing it home game routine. Was it just an advertising gimmick or a Rovers fan trying to watch snippet's? Will never forget the place, a large part of my childhood Final score v Brighton 1-1 I believe. Shame we couldn't have done the double over them but what scenes at the end. Stay off the pitch, some hopes of that!!!!

A pint of DD on the Tote during the evening games. Strolling past Her Majesties looking to see if there was a mucky film on. On the Tote during the Arsenal game,no social distancing then!!. On the Tote for Aston Villa separated from the Villa fans by a small gap with police dogs, all sorts of missiles flying. Down at Mueller Road end one misty evening when Robin Stubbs intercepted a back pass and strolled round the keeper to slot home. Watching Smash & Grab slam 7 past Bradford. And that smell particularly on damp November evening's. Alan Warboys hadn't signed for us when we beat Bradford City 7-1, that was in 1971, Warboys didn't sign until 1972. Brian Godfrey hit a rocket though! Funny how our memories play tricks on us!

The whole North Enclosure singing "Harold, Harold"
Sitting on the wall at the front of the North Enclosure watching the game and getting hit in the face by the ball!
Harry with the horn shouting "Shoot, Shoot" and then blowing his horn!
The Evening Post seller in the car park behind the Tote End shouting "Evening Post, same old rubbish at Eastville!". After a home defeat.
The greyhound track.
Bloke stood close by saying "If Steve White scores I'm going home" Steve scores and the bloke goes home!
Parachutists landing on the centre circle before a game.

I saw Smash and Grab and the rest of the team wear red and white stripes away at Blackbun I was there too! We won 2-0 then off to see the lights at Blackpool. On the way back down to Bristol the supporters club coach broke down 60 miles north of Birmingham, we all got out and walked up the hard shouder to a service station that was close by where Oscar helped himself to the self service food on offer. We waited for a replacement coach to come up from Bristol but it seemed to take forever so we all walked back up the hard shoulder and got back on the coach. The replacement arrived about 4.00 in the morning and I remember getting back home to bed at about 07.30 Sunday morning, absolutely shattered. But still unbeaten and still top of the league so totally worth it!

I saw Rovers wearing this kit away to Reading. We won 2-0, can't remember the year though.
