I'll be watching CL tonight. Sorry lads but Real Madrid vs Man City and Arsenal vs Bayern Munich sound a lot more exciting than a dead rubber vs Reading.
Up the champions league!

That's appaling defending. Tidy finish though! I hope the lad becomes the next Jed Ward and breaks into the first team. In reality if Jed ward is our first choice no1 and Harvey Greenslade is first choice striker then Vanarama Conference ere we come

I think CM looks knackered at the moment. We are all but mathematically safe. If it was me, I would be recalling Harvey Greenslade and giving him the rest of the season. You will never know if he doesn't get played. Not too dissimilar to Azzas goal on Saturday. Are we allowed to recall and play him at this stage of the season?? That's appaling defending.

I’ll tell you what Peeps. When we score tonight , that’s going to be some roar. Keep your pets inside. The sonic boom will probably trigger tsunami warnings on the East Coast of the US. 2 nil Gas, spoil yourselves ppl you deserve it. I see you like READING fictional novels 🤪

Knowing this forum, this thread is going to go on a tangent! Anyway, is anyone willing to assist me next Tuesday v Cambridge when I wear the (apologies for profanity) City shirt for charity? Just needs a bucket shaker really, and someone to explain my actions (otherwise the men in white coats might turn up) as I will be busy selling programmes and 50/50s, and being a mere man it is difficult to multitask. Storm Kath made it nigh on impossible on Saturday. Someone suggested I should be nominated for Gashead of the month (as advertised on Twitter). Not for me to say, but if it gets extra publicity on fan hub and more money raised for Bristol Children's Hospital then all well and good. I suppose if my mate Robbie Sparkes never started Raise the Roof, I would never have got involved and a lot of you would have been very wet more often without the Blackthorn Roof, so I have been fundraising for the Gas for over 25 years. I will always love you

Posh have a strict wage structure of transfer listing their players within 1 year of their contract. I think the way they would look at it is why keep playing him improving his contract negotiations for him when he leaves in the summer on a free vs playing a player with potential who they know they will have for a longer period and hopefully sell on for a lot of money I.e Toney/Gayle etc. I honestly don't think the posh's main focus is winning promotion etc, they are run more like a sustainable business taking the odd gamble here and there in a player to make a lot of money potentially. So keep paying a player but don’t play him? If he’s good enough that’s cutting your nose off to spite your face and makes no sense at all. More to this, not fit, underlying injuries, personality, better options, whatever if he’s not good enough for their top 6 push then he’s not good enough for our aspirations either. When he was with us some said Championship material, quality etc. Clearly not. I still suspect we found/saw something we didn’t like. Move on, look elsewhere It does make sense. You're assuming the be all and end all for Pboro is to win promotion, which it isn't IMO. It is to find players with potential and make as much money as possible from them. They aren't going to do that with JCH who is going to leave on a free in the summer.

Not sure what you expect him to do when he's brought on in the 89th minute nearly every game. He scored with 7 minutes on the pitch vs Burton. Our team can't score a goal within 10 hours. Anybody that wouldn't sign JCH if we could sign him on reasonable enough wages is off their head. He would be a great signing for us, a proven L1 striker. Otherwise we are going to take a lucky dip on an unproven striker. For every Matty Taylor or Aaron Collins there are 20 Luke James. ...it *is* risk vs reward. I was a supporter but never a huge fan of his when he was here before, and that's potentially clouding my judgement, but I also remember reading not all of his teammates were big fans either. So the risk is a huge signing-on fee and/or I assume making him the highest wage earner at the club - not as disruptive as it might be as we are likely to be clearing out a lot of existing players, resetting the dressing room anyway - but if the rumours that he's looking for one last payday are true that doesn't seem to be the mentality we would want in a player. He also takes up a huge part of the budget. So you have to build a team around him as the focal point. Again, not impossible but it will mean compromises elsewhere in the squad. The other risk of course is his lack of form/fitness. As a club we never start seasons well and he's going into the summer break only having played 45 consecutive minutes once so far this calendar year. None of these circumstances are screaming "Great Idea" at me when (if we can find them) we could sign two or three young up and coming strikers for the same wage.... Do you mean like a James Daly, Timmy Abraham, Gavin Reilly etc. It's all well and good in theory but it's not that easy to go out and sign 2 or 3 players with the potential to reach JCH's standard. We need a good scouting network for one. Strikers usually are on most money at a club anyway. I'm sure if we gave JCH a dedicated training plan we could get him back fit enough. It's not like he has been injured regularly, that would be more of a concern for me. He's obviously been a good professional to carry on for PBoro too. I think MacAnthony actually commented on this earlier on in the season.

If Posh have him, could use him but choose not to, what does that say? I say there's something wrong. maybe when it didn't go through last time we found something we didn't like? Who knows! So much chat on here about building a top 6 squad and we want to sign a player that can't get into a top 6 squad? Big no from me.

To be fair JCH only plays 5 mins each match, it's odd he's only brought on when it's too late to do anything. ...which was also part of the point I was making. Why are people convinced we will find our goalscoring Saviour in a player who can't even get into a rival league one team's starting XI? Admittedly he will be well rested having only played more than 45mins once this calendar year, but decent strikers rely on form and fitness and he will have neither in the summer... Not sure what you expect him to do when he's brought on in the 89th minute nearly every game. He scored with 7 minutes on the pitch vs Burton. Our team can't score a goal within 10 hours. When did you do a poll asking them all for their views? I get the impression most fans couldn't careless if MT is in charge next season or not, but most would be over the moon if DC returned, should he leave Cheltenham this summer. I'd imagine season ticket sales are the worst since we were promoted, even with the added attraction of the new South Stand. That's got to be causing the new owners some concern. Never go back, it will not work. No reason it wouldn't work any more than any other manager. In fact one thing DC would have in his favour is the backing of the fans over the players if they ever played up.

Playing devil's advocate Socrates we haven't scored a goal in 10 hours of football. How bloody patient should we be?! That's what happens when you don't sign strikers, you don't score goals. Especially when you sell your prized asset striker mid season and don't replace him. 10 hours though mate. I get we haven't done enough off the pitch but please stop and have a think how long that is without scoring a goal. Some people could run 5 marathons in that time (not me).

So D.c took us down. Joey took us down. Wasn’t Matty’s fault Rotherham going down despite record summer signing. You trust Matty to work on an even smaller budget, harder to attract players to Rovers than Rotherham. What ever fits your agenda. I have no agenda. DC took us down as did Barton but they were both given a chance to bring us back up. Taylor has us in mid table and many seem to want him gone. That was my point. Patience is key but most fans and owners have none these days unfortunately. Playing devil's advocate Socrates we haven't scored a goal in 10 hours of football. How bloody patient should we be?!

I admire your positivity. I'm not really being positive. I said we don't know yet. We might have a bad summer 😂. The succubus me signing of Conteh is hopefully a sign of what's to come in the summer. We nearly messed that up though! Hopefully we have learnt from our mistakes and get things done early. To even be hoping that though, it's just a constant cycle of hoping and praying.

Most of us knew we were going to struggle with this squad, but that we would stay up. If the right players were not available for the right price, did we do the right thing?? Struggle in the short term, for a better chance of long term success. Only the summer will tell and we have a massive summer ahead! If we make decent signings, we can say we did the right thing. I admire your positivity.

Sorry but not happy, we sell Collins and bring in three loan signings until end of season why ? what is the point ? all young players with little or no league experience, they will go back to their clubs and we will have to have yet another reset, which will mean yet another season of adjusting etc etc, loan signings are not the way to build a team for the future, and now desperately short up front, Oh well sure our new owners know what they are doing, Oh to be a Gashead eh !! Bump
