Get him gone , utter sh**. Can’t believe how bad our free fall is. I think he’s on thin ice now , when we inevitably lose on Saturday he’s gone, totally unacceptable this run of results and to not score a single goal in 7 games is surely enough for any manager to lose their job , The players aren’t playing for him and are also to blame. Absolute joke. You’ve just used the line he will be using with the owner except of course he’ll be laying it all on Joey’s players who are still p1ssed off he’s been booted, and have it in for him. Doubt he will be accepting any responsibility himself. If only we had an owner who gave a f**k.

Tonight clearly showed the Manager has not got a clue! Totally the wrong set up and he the manager is given detailed reports on how Reading play and set up. True he was given a long contract, but no way will we have to pay that up, a year at the most is what he will get. Get rid now, use the back room staff for the rest of the season and then bring in a new Manager beginning of May. Matt Taylor has failed without any doubt, be surprised if he does not get the chop tonight! He’s not gonna get the chop mate because the new owner is as half arsed about it all as the players are.

Agree, if we are going to have a complete reset this summer I’d rather it not be with a manager who has proved he has a total inability to get any effort or cohesion out of the players he inherited. A complete reset is needed INCLUDING the manager. This could have been copy and pasted from April prior to 2 of our latest 3 promotion seasons to be fair. Oh right so Darrell Clarke with just 8 games to go and Barton with a little bit longer is the same as a guy who has had half a season and turned us into a team which is not only incapable of winning it’s incapable of scoring. This has more of a Ben Garner feel about it than a Clarke or Barton.

Well thought I'd go along tonight as I don't get much chance to at the moment with two young kids and wish I hadn't. The ground was absolutely dead. No queues for the bar. Acres of space in the stands. Whatever the attendance figure given was you could knock 2k off that as season ticket holders clearly aren't going. Terrible starting lineup. Brown as a lone striker was never going to work. Too many midfielders but we had no outlet at all. Slightly better second half with the triple sub but the damage was already done. Taylor should have had the balls to make the changes after half an hour. The squad is so imbalanced no wonder certain players don't seem to give a sh** as there's little jeopardy of getting dropped. We've got an abundance of midfielders yet we've got one left back. At centre half we're playing Connolly who looks way out of his depth at L1. And what happened to the days when squads had four strikers? Martin's 35 so clearly can't do 90 mins Sat/Tue yet with Marquis not in the squad we've got nothing else. I was "Taylor in" and give him a window but I can see us taking this form into next season, sacking him after 6 games and then bringing in a new man who once again can't get his own players. Agree, if we are going to have a complete reset this summer I’d rather it not be with a manager who has proved he has a total inability to get any effort or cohesion out of the players he inherited. A complete reset is needed INCLUDING the manager.

Not strictly Rovers related but…. A Wrexham fan has just received a three year banning notice for shouting English B******s. Im struggling to comprehend that. If that’s a banning offence I’ve heard worse on the Rovers terraces each week. On the flip side racism must apply to everyone otherwise it applies to no one. This might seem petty but it is the very basics of what racism is about but usually goes unchecked.if the person slighted is considered to come from a so say non oppressed group. For example, if like me, you are white, English and stayed living in the same area that you grew up, you might get called a bastard or worse but you’d never get called an English bastard. However you move to a different part of the country you might get called a Bristol bastard or to a different country an English bastard. Why? Why aren’t you just a plain old bastard like you would be if you’d stayed in your home town?

Tom Gorringe is still an employee of Bristol Rovers but is no longer a board member at the club. Sounds like he hasn’t been a board member (Director) since the takeover then. Why though has it taken more than 6 months to notify companies house of the change when the legal requirement is to inform within 14 days?

Said it before, this is bleddy ridiculously and is costing many many clubs in leagues 1 and 2 a fortune in lost revenue over an entire season as attendances are around about 20% lower for a midweek night fixture when compared to a Saturday fixture. No thought whatsoever given to the smaller clubs! Yep. Would have been looking at 12,500 on the original date, maybe 8,500 on the new date.

When will we know if this game is on or not? Is it usually just 8 days before ? When national sqauds are announced I'd imagine I’d imagine that too, so I’m asking when is that normally? I can’t find anything conclusive. I wouldn’t normally worry about it but it’s one of my mates 60th and we’re planning a big day going to the game and enjoying Gloucester Rd. We are going to need a plan B if it’s not happening.

As posted on another thread the game has already sold out for away fans, even though the game could yet get postponed because of international call ups. I’ve just gone on our website to see what the ticket situation is only to find that tickets are STILL on sale for the Burton and Carlisle games that have already been played but not the Reading game! Who is meant to be in charge of the website? Anyone? Embarrassing. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/tickets/home-tickets/

Wasn’t it Jasper Carrott in his early days who said about supporting his beloved Birmingham City…. Some you lose, some you draw?

Needs his own thread. Photos and interviews were being done yesterday or he is currently on way down to Bristol to sign for a club record fee according to lots of sources on here and elsewhere. Will be just the tonic we need ahead of tomorrow and, as I have said elsewhere, just the kind of signing we want Rovers to be about. Got a hint of Peterborough about it. Lets hope we have a "Morning Gasheads" soon so we can have something good to talk about and sell those £10 tickets When you say ‘hint of Peterborough about it’ I think of the transfer deadline day debacle back in August. Is that what you meant?

Cheap journalism simply reading fans forums. Simply needs to open his pc for stories. Each sports reporter for each EFL club just cut and paste forum panic stories word for word to each other. Nonsense. I’ve said why I think that earlier in this thread so no point double posting. What is a concern though is that we have fans who instead of questioning or calling out bad things that go on at the FC that are to the detriment of the FC they prefer to stick their fingers in their ears and try to discredit the messenger! Why would anyone do that? The owner and the FC are completely separate things!

What structure have historically similar sized clubs or ones that have had recent success operated with at this level or below? In League One at the time, Brentford hired two Directors of Football, a Head of Recruitment, Chief Scout, scouting network and had access to bespoke data from the owners gambling company. They focused on recruitment and players under 23 with a re-sale value, because as one of the DoF's said at the time: "Recruitment is the bread and butter of Brentford because we have one of the lowest revenues in the league. We need to make the business sustainable by buying cheap and selling expensive." Luton in League One had an excellent CEO in Gary Sweet, an experienced football man in Chief Recruitment Officer Mick Harford and a Head of Scouting Operations in Geoff Chapple. Peterborough have a CEO, Head of Football Operations, a Director of Football in Barry Fry and a Chief scout in Sam Gaughran and vast scouting network beyond that. Stockport and Wrexham are first and second in the division below. Stockport have a good CEO, plus the former City Football Group employee Simon Wilson as Director of Football and the former Prem and England player Matt Janson as Chief Scout. Wrexham have the experienced CEO's Shaun Harvey and Fleur Robinson, a chief scout in Chris Johnson and the former Football Association technical director Les Reed advising the board. We are like the Dog & Duck FC in comparison. All of those clubs have a smaller support base than we do, No doubt Wrexham and Stockport will be leaving us in their wake soon too. All of our owners ever, have failed to deliver anything better than 3rd division mediocrity and ramshackle facilities for the fans. The current owner also seems to be running the club like a corner shop, has zero understanding of how a successful club should be run, wants to cut costs even further and communicate even less with the fans than any of his predecessors. Why is he here?

I think I'm the only one who though it was lazy journalism. He just rewrote some of the things said on this forum yesterday. He hasn't added anything to the situation. The only research he has done is read Gaschat. Of course it isn’t lazy journalism, he’s clearly talked to people at the club who are frustrated, he wouldn’t go to print and throw barbs at the owners and risk his job if he didn’t feel he was on firm ground. Sure he can pick up on the mood of the fans on here but that’s about it. It’s a courageous piece that could get him banned from the club!

Just watched the highlights and there is absolutely no way that our second disallowed goal is offside.
