I endorse that BJ.
Big thanks to Wimborne, Gregs, Big Jock, AF, HTE, and any other quizmasters or marble racers I've missed. Generally do some bits and pieces in the morning, and the evenings look after themselves, but you guys have certainly helped pass the long, boring afternoons since being locked down! ππππ

How fickle fans can be eh?
The most despised player to have ever pulled on the quarters, shat on us from a massive height, did the unthinkable, then slagged us off, had to move house because of it, had horrendous stuff sung at him when returning, but a year or so later, around 40% of people would have him back. I'm speechless!
Either people on here are not at all representative of those that go to games, or they are fickle beyond belief.

Procedure announced on Facebook.
- Refund for five 23rds of the ticket back onto your card - Vouchers to use online - Donate to academy - Deduct from next year's ST.
Seems reasonable.

I was more impressed by the rather nice ceramic bowl that BJ is using. He's gone rather more upmarket on his choice of crockery today.

Bang on there BJ. I was only there for a relatively short period of time (one year), and only doing pretty mundane sort of stuff, but I must admit it did have quite a long lasting affect on me, even if just giving me a small level of understanding.

There were some children's wards that are quite upsetting to see, and on some of the more severe wards, patients wore a sort of restraining jacket, and padded headgear to prevent them from hitting their heads against the walls and stuff. Two of the patients worked with us in the stores though, and they were good as gold. One of them that worked with us was profoundly deaf, and that seemed to be the only reason he was there, although we obviously didn't know that for sure.
I wasn't there in any professional capacity, just doing portering and stores work, so was never on the wards for large amounts of time, and certainly not an expert on the subject, but there were wards that I would dread going into, and it can only be a good thing that these establishments were phased out.
I remember sitting out the back of the stores one day having a sandwich, and a patient walked up and just said 'what would you do if I put a brick through your window'? I came out with something really wussy like 'please don't', before asking him if he liked football. I can't remember who he supported but it did diffuse the situation! Sport can be a great leveller!

It wasn't nice at all Lion. I was only there portering, taking a year out between school and uni, but that involved going on all the wards. There were some very unwell people in there, and to a bit of a 'wet behind the ears' 18 year old, it could be quite frightening. Some of those that were allowed off the wards to have a wander around, and do a bit of work, just wanted someone to talk to really, but you always felt slightly wary not to say the wrong thing, or have the wrong facial expression. A very quick learning curve!

I worked at Hortham Hospital in 1979-1980. It had opened for the first patients in 1933, as (rather cruelly), Hortham Idiot Colony. The 'colony' was later dropped in favour of 'hospital'.
It closed in the late 80s/early 90s, but this is how 'our area' got its name.
(Apologies if this has already been mentioned elsewhere. Haven't read both threads fully)

My Pirate fell off that dodgy escalator. Commentator only noticed 4 laps later!
Bizarrely enough there's a full page article on Marble Racing on page 3 of the Guardian today. Obviously AF is well ahead of the game.
There's supposed to be a fight in one race, and a marble streaker! Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all marbles naked anyway?!
