I got the midfield spot on but didn't realise Hunt had joined Wilson on the treatment table yet again! Bomb the pair of them out 4500 here today total crowd? I reckon it's certainly below 5k. Shocking.

Rossitor on fire here. Just great to see. Pleased for him. If he could stay fit, he is a championship player I would say a Premier League player

A comprehensive sack.
The way a club finishes a season is an indication on how they'll start the next one a lot of the time.
I mentioned on the matchday thread that the players that we'd want to try and keep even after a rebuild by the looks of it aren't having him either.
I can't see any benefit of keeping him, just in the hope he somehow turns it round next season.
He needs to go.

The cult of Joey was always going to be an incredibly difficult job to follow. At the time- I felt it should be either Mangs or Robinson from the uninspiring short list. Both candidates felt like continuity acts. Managers that would pick up the Batton. The appointment of Matt Taylor signposted a new direction. I felt this was the wrong time but a bit of me was excited. We were over reliant on the the personality of JB and needed a constitution put in place. Unfortunately- the guys been given no tools to do the job. Firstly, people saying Matt out? That's not enough. You have to know who can/ would come in. The trigger finger- and water poor planning got us here origninally. Second, in my view- he still needs a chance. A new direction post Joey was always going to be tough- it's clear once the carrot of the playoffs fell away the squad motivation collapsed. Even the nucleus of the side, the players that we'd want to keep even after a fresh restart, Connor Taylor, Kamil Conteh, Sam Finley, Anthony Evans, Luke Thomas and Chris Martin have all fallen off a cliff and have seemingly all had enough off him as well. I can't see any way back for Matt Taylor. He doesn't deserve a another chance, 7 games of Football without a single goal is the icing on the cake. He has to go.

This is the worst i've ever seen in my time supporting Rovers.
We've had some shocking teams in that time, but this under Taylor is a new low.
Not a single goal in 7 games of Football. That in itself is a sackable offence.
Get him out now.
Oh, we've definitely 'GoT oUr RoVeRs BaCk' alright!

Never go back, it will not work. I love DC, but would hate him to tarnish the memories we have of him. I remember how awful it was with Gerry 2nd time around. There's been plenty of instances where managers have returned to clubs and been pretty successful.
Just off the top of my head in quite recent memory, Jose Mourinho(Chelsea), Harry Redknapp(Portsmouth), Eddie Howe(Bournemouth), David Moyes(West Ham), Nathan Jones(Luton), Darren Ferguson(Peterborough -Multiple times), John Coleman(Accrington), Paul Cook(Chesterfield) etc
I think the old Football adage 'Never go back' is actually a myth.

Get DC back!
He's showing exactly how you go about completely rejuvinating a squad of players and buying into a manager.
What was it 0 points and 0 goals scored when he rocked up at Cheltenham?
Compare that to Matt Taylors dismal performance since taking over.
DC is an absolute diamond.

Imagine if we could defend. Bowen, Mainoo and Toney been great so far. Yeah agree, our defence is gonna let us down. Foden looks so much better in the middle. I wouldn't be surprised if Quansah is in the squad come The Euros. He hasn't looked out of place at all when I've seen him for Liverpool this season. I think him and Levi Colwill at Chelsea are both better than the likes of Maguire and Dunk.

This is not a 5-0 game.
We've had more possession, just as many shots, more shots on target, missed a Penalty.
We should of scored at least 3 ourselves.
Lincoln have just been absolutely ruthless, they've scored 6, 5 and another 5 today in their last 3 games and you can see why.
This is a very harsh scoreline.

CM now 7/1 (bet365) to be top goalscorer.* He's currently on 15 goals. Devante Cole leads the way on 17. Last week he was 14/1, so one goal and win at Leyton Orient has halved his odds. Incredible goalscoring rate, have we ever had this before in first season with club? * Please bet as responsibly or as irresponsibly or not at all as you like. If his odds have halved that will be because a large(ish) bet has moved the market. One goal - when he's still a couple behind the leader and in equal 5th overall - doesn't make the bookies halve their odds. Matty Taylor scored 20 in his first season at the club As did Barry Hayles with 23 league goals and 26 in total. Jason Roberts scored 23 in all competitions too, his goalscoring record was incredible, I think he only scored 1 goal in his first 15 or so games. Pretty similar to Chris Martin who didn't sign until the 8th game of the season, then didn't score in his first 4 games.

They were 4 points off the Play Off places a month ago.
Now they're 13 points off it and only 6 points away from the Relegation Zone having played a game more than a few of the teams below them.
Squeaky bum time by the looks of it.

The last time they were in league one was in 14/15 season, when they easily won the league, their average attendance was 12056, if we had a similar successful campaign, I don’t think we would be too far behind that figure. Where they’re way ahead of us is their marketing & obviously facilities, hopefully that can begin to change moving forward. Large chunks of their stadium were closed for redevelopment that season. When City were midtable in League 1 their averages ranged from between 9k-11k, when they were in and around the promotion places finishing 3rd a few times they increased slightly their highest average was 12,789 in 2004. Then in The Championship crowds increased to between 15-16k before it was redeveloped. There's no reason why we couldn't at least equal that in a revamped Mem. The revamped Ashton Gate has seen them double our home gates, but before that their League 1 crowds weren't hugely different to ours now.

He didn't score in his first 4 matches either.
Plus didn't play until the very end of September after we'd already played 8 games.
His GPG and MPG is quite remarkable.
What a signing he has been.

Does anyone else think, "Yeah, ok. I don't believe you"? Might be just me overdosing on the cynicism biscuits. Hopefully wrong etc. Onwards and round and round. UT(F)G 🏴☠️🤡 We're Rovers fans. Any Gashead who denied having even an ounce of cynacism would be a liar 😁

Thanks for the updates, a lot of it sounds positive. I'm not sure we will be able to get a category 1 academy,I don't think many clubs have them and we wanted a category 2 academy years ago, but we haven't achieved it. How can we say we need to cut costs, but we are going to spend millions?? I know if we get it right, it could potentially make a lot of money, but it's a big risk. The only clubs at our level with Cat 1 academy's are Derby & Reading.
There's only 5 clubs at our level or lower with Cat 2 academy's as well. Barnsley, Bolton, Charlton, Colchester & Crewe.
I'd be very happy with a Cat 2 academy, let alone Cat 1.
It will take a lot of investment that's for sure.

Why did we release Christian Lee? It says he scored 7 in 9 and then dropped in to non league? I think he only scored 1 goal for us. Against the Sh*t!

Roberts - 26/07/2000 Zamora - 01/08/2000 Tillson - 04/08/2000 Cureton - 15/08/2000 Surely the worst 3 weeks of transfer business in the clubs history. At one stage of the season all four divisions of the Football League had ex-Rovers strikers leading the goalscoring charts; PL Stewart, Ch Roberts, L1 Cureton & L2 Zamora. Wow! Didn’t we then spend 250k on Mickey Evans to replace both Robert’s & Cureton?! Mickey Evans was about £300k I think. We also signed Martin Cameron from north of the border. Justin Richards. Clinton Ellis. We had a Norwegian bloke was it something Johanson? Mousa Dagnogo Christian Lee Ansah Owusu All strikers used that season. Unbelievable

Plus Luke Thomas and I would extend Finley for another year. Forgot about Luke Thomas. Absolutely. A nucleus of 7 players to build a team around. Maybe the rebuild doesn't have to be a complete overhaul after all.
