Considering Tisdale seemingly wants a big lad up front, perhaps we are monitoring 6ft 9in Kyle Hudlin with a view to the summer?

No idea what happened to him last season as he just seemed to disappear off the radar at Barrow, but I would be seriously tempted to offer free agent Callum Gribbin the chance to train with us if I was Barton. If (big if admittedly) he could stay clear of injuries then the lad has the ability to be a big star at this level (and above) with the right coaching and guidance. Its no exaggeration to say Gribbin was one of the most naturally gifted players I've watched at youth team level when he was at Manchester United. Best as a no 10, but can play out wide on either side or even as a false 9.

19-year-old attacking midfielder Eitel Goueth worth keeping an eye on at Slough Town. Made appearances as a 16-year-old for Chatham Town and last season was named Players Player of the Year for the Slough Town u23 side where he scored 10 goals in 13 appearances. Made his Slough first team debut on Saturday in the National League South playing 90 minutes.

Hearing good things about 17-year-old attacking midfielder Bobby Battison who started for Mickleover in their 2-0 Northern Premier League win over Gainsborough Trinity last night. He made his debut as a 16-year-old last season and was part of the Mickleover academy side that won both the Northern Division and the ESPFA National Academy title, which earned him the Mickleover Player of the Season award and a place in both the Midlands and National Team of the Year. www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/derby-news/derbyshire-teenage-footballer-star-wins-5662613Battison goal at 2:18

Mitchell-Lawson is free at the moment but I hear Garner is looking to sign him for Swindle. Not sure we really need him but he is only 21 and has potential

Another 17-year-old already making first team appearances in the Isthmian League that I'm interested in watching progress is the winger Freddie Legg at Hastings United. He actually appeared a number of times for Bexhill United first team last season in the Southern Combination Football League as a 16-year-old and also scored 19 goals in 15 games for their U18 side. Another one to keep an eye on for the development squad perhaps.
Also heard good things about 17-year-old Ruben Bartlett-Antwi at Walthamstow where he has made a number of first team appearances.Scored 16 goals in 9 games for the Walthamstow FC U18 side in the Eastern Junior Alliance and 16 goals in 16 games for the Barnet and Southgate College/Tottenham Hotspur side in the National Football Youth League. Scored with a nice finish in pre-season vs a Leyton Orient XI. Worth a look with a view to the development squad.

Interested to see how George Alexander gets on at Bromley after signing from Millwall this summer. Quite prolific in the youths and development sides. Son of Gary Alexander. Worth keeping an eye on.

20-year-old Charley Kendall released by QPR worth a trial. Showed promising signs in his first scholar year with 12 goals and five assists from 16 appearances for the U18s and was offered a pro deal. Scored 4 goals in 4 games during this pre-season before his release.

Much as I can’t see it happening, this would be exactly the signing that ticks all boxes for what we’ve been after. Would imagine he’s out of our reach financially and unlikely he’d be willing to drop back down to L2 but it’s one I’d be happy for us to throw everything at! Yep , let’s go get him .

"The court heard Norwood and Mr Mullin met two women at the bar and all drove back to the women's flat, where they stayed for between 20 and 30 minutes" Might have some fitness issues if that's all he managed then

The 20-year-old winger of striker Tommy Willard at Aldershot caught my eye in pre-season. A former Southampton and Barnsley youth, he scored 12 goals in 24 games for the Barnsley U18s during 18/19.

A couple of left backs worth scouting.
21-year-old Reece Kendall at Matlock Town. His manager said about him: “I’ve had lads that’s played for England C but he’s head and shoulders above these.
“He’s a massive, massive signing for us, he’s got the ability to push on to the next level and beyond. I believe that we can do that for him and in turn it’ll push us on as a club.”
20-year-old Liam Brockbank at Lancaster City and current England Futsal International. After signing for the club his manager said: "He’s an exceptional young footballer, already has experience of non-league and has a great attitude.
"I watched him twice last season play for Workington and he was the best player on the pitch by a mile."

Pirate do you keep an eye on any up & coming managers / coaches? *not that this will happen* but if JB was to leave for whatever reason who do you think would be a good fit.

Pirate do you keep an eye on any up & coming managers / coaches? *not that this will happen* but if JB was to leave for whatever reason who do you think would be a good fit. Really impressed with the job James Rowe has been doing at Chesterfield. He was Assistant Manager at Aldershot Town with Gary Waddock when they achieved two successive play-off positions in 16/17 and 17/18. As manager of Gloucester City they began the 2020-21 National League North season with four consecutive league wins, equalling their best league start in 78 years, and eight wins through nine matches. Left with a 41.7% win percentage. Joined Chesterfield In November 2020 when they were in 21st place and was later awarded with the league's Manager of the Month award for March 2021, as his side won six out of seven games, conceding zero goals in those wins. Rowe eventually led the club to a sixth place finish in his inaugural season, advancing to the promotion playoffs with a 58.3% win percentage. Former Plymouth Argyle player and Mansfield Town legend George Foster is his assistant and rates Rowe highly. Foster has managed himself and worked as a scout for over 20 years. “The gaffer knows what he wants and with the right backing he could go all the way.” Foster said. “He is probably one of the best coaches I have worked with and I have worked with England coaches and some first-class coaches. "He is an exceptional coach, he knows how he wants his teams to play and he can put that on in training sessions."

What a prospect this lad looks by the way. Sam Fishburn, 17-year-old, was plucked out of the north-east local circuit by Carlisle United, where he was playing with the famous Wallsend Boys Club (who have produced the likes of Alan Shearer, Steve Bruce, Michael Carrick, Fraser Forster and....Tommy Widdrington amongst many others). He took to academy football superbly scoring 23 goals in all competitions last season making him the highest scorer across the country at that age level. Joined Lancaster City on loan and has scored 5 goals in his first 2 games so far this season.
