i know I will probably get roasted / lambasted and called a Ted by the usual suspects .... but I thought as things were quiet I might share a story from a surprise meeting today. There is a Rovers element here so please don't move to a side platformm.
Our twins birthday this week and part of the festivities was a trip to Air hop .... Great fun.
Wife and i sat at a big old table looking down on the guys having great fun ... with that a very pretty lady asks if she can join us so she too can watch her family from the balcony . Loads of room so of course we obliged. Women got chatting as they do and I didn't really notice her husband who had gone for coffee pull up a chair next to me .... I did recognise his voice though when he said " Hello there " How could I mistake Lee Johnsons squeak.
We chatted for two hours about everything and anything, all the kids got on brilliantly, wives gassed away. Have to say he was a seriously decent fellow, I didn't let on I was a Blue there was no need ...we chatted Lions, Footie , kids stuff and again across as a very decent guy.
At the end of the session we all walked together to our cars and he roared with laughter when he saw my Rovers badge and even said Good Luck for the season. Would say I have changed my opinion of the LJ Dad and husband ... he is of course the manager of a team I despise so it ends there .
His Dad was an absolute gent as well when I had dinner with him and his wife a few years ago .... again like the man but the job they do ..N0!
There is a Rovers element here .... my son and I met DC at the WSM friendly last season and he was an absolute legend spending great time with my lad who wil stil recount the conversation to anyone and show them the photos of him, DC , the squad, wearing BBs hat ... unforgettable night for a young lad.
My point in all this ... I as a fan , stand back , criticise, moan and speak emotionally about all these guys in their professions but as men, Dads, friends or just human beings they are all seriously decent people.
Sorry if you find it boring .. it's a bit different from the usual stuff on here and a break from transfer frustrations etc...

Easy to forget when we are venting anger at players/managers that they are no different from us. They have the gonads to put their heads above the parapet in pursuit of success, they live and die by results and judged so. I am sure LJ is a decent fellow but i obviously wish him no luck at City!

People involved in football (at all levels) are human beings and most human beings are ok - and many are easy to have a decent conversation with when you have a few decent topics you can yak about.
For every Ranger, Oyston, Zebroski & Million there are 100 decent, average, normal people. (And even those mentioned above are not all bad & will have their own stories of what happened & why)

Always good to hear the other side of the coin, as it were. '... he said " Hello there " How could I mistake Lee Johnsons squeak.' - that bit made I larf!

It's a very nice story and I am quite willing to believe it all, but it misses the point.
He isn't a very good manager, given the millions that have been thrown his way, but he's had an easy ride on here.
The bile and hatred thrown in the direction of LJ have come from posters on OTIB. Until they staged their late escape from the relegation zone, he was public enemy #1, but they seem to have gone underground, waiting for his next mistake.
I think I recall seeing about 20 simultaneous Johnson Out threads at one point.

Good story. Just goes to show that being a clueless manager and a hopeless tactician doesn't exempt you from being a good dad and a friendly guy.
I imagine he prefers talking to gasheads anyway. We probably give him less abuse.

Was this the same guy who told you last week DC was a lucky manager, or are you just turning into a Ted over the summer?

No he was a Doncaster fan from memory ... in our London office where I work we have good L1 coverage.... Doncaster, Gillingham and Southend oh and a Millwall guy . No one has admitted to Charlton yet. 40 plus years and third generation Rovers boy will never change .... my son has extended that to fourth generation now. West Huntspill flag ready for the new season!

If anything I hate him more for pretending to be a nice, normal chap. What a prick.

We probably give him less abuse. It's probably why he chuckled - a city fan would give him abuse whereas we quite like him owing to his incompetence.

Just by speaking to him shows our fans have more respect than the rift raft and can rise above the crap. Could you honestly see a sh** head having an intelligent conversation with DC probably not most likely he would given him abuse. So fair play to OP for representing the club in a positive manner
