Rumour floating around regarding Doidge FGR want 300k worth every penny IMO but its a rumour so most likely BS I'd be happy if those rumours were true. I think he would compliment our other strikers and prove to be a very good signing. Sadly I don't think anyone has any idea who DC is after.

Having seen him in the play off final he'd be one of my prefered options out of the realistic targets we might be looking at. However DC has stated he's looking for a left footed winger so that probably rules him out unfortunately. Tbf a while ago DC did say that he wanted a left winger who could cut in on the right (not tony blair). Wheeler seems fairly realistic imo especially since he already knows Sercombe, Nichols and of course Marcus Stewart. That's true and I'd be delighted if we did sign him. I actually think he'd fit in to our style of play perfectly and with a lack of a 20 goal a season striker another free scoring midfielder would be very useful. However, although he only has 1 year left on his contract I still think Exeter may be looking for 500k+ which might be more than we're willing to pay.

Who says wheeler can't use both? He's played on the left in the past hasn't he?

Hi everyone thanks very much for your input. Every player has his price and there have been rumours flying around. As for a price given these crazy times I think there would need to be an offer in excess of £600k for the Club to take seriously any approach.
Thanks again and all the best for the coming season. Will be watching your results with interest particularly as you have recently signed two ex Grecians Sercombe and Nichols who could both prove to be very good signings for you.

Don't understand people saying he can't play on the left wing. He's a right footed winger who's a good goal scorer. Surely he'd be ideal to play a similar role to BBB on the opposite flank, cutting in on his stronger foot. He's also decent in the air which could be useful if we're going to play 4-3-3, almost like a wide target man.

On the subject of Exeter have just seen photos of their ground redevelopment and the infamous away end is now no more. That must now make us the team with the worse away area in the football league. Embarrassing.

In his most recent update he said he wanted a left footed winger. Who says wheeler can't use both? He's played on the left in the past hasn't he? Like I said earlier in the thread, he's played on the left about 10 times since joining Exeter. Having watched him several times he is predominantly right footed and has always played from the right when I've seen him. He can use his left, but is far from a "left footed winger" that DC last mentioned. Don't get me wrong I really rate Wheeler, but I'm just a bit cautious about signing him for big money and then playing him in a position he is unfamiliar.

Out of interest what's you view on Craig woodman (sh** head). He's my Mrs cousin. Hence being at glasto with mr wheeler. Please be honest. He needs a ribbing.

I wonder if anyone on this forum was at Glastonbury this year?

Or of course someone could wait 12 months and have him on a free ..... As the stupidly low amount we got for Taylor shows a player gets worth less as their contract runs down and Exeter will be well aware of that if the player won't sign a new contract.

I have a feeling the LW position is last priority. And as such any movement for a winger will come when we've made moves elsewhere.
If we have enough room in the budget to make a last minute Wheeler grab- we will.

If we have enough room in the budget to make a last minute Wheeler grab- we will. Not sure I agree with this. For me a LW is 2nd on the priority list. We have 4 decent CM so the DM would be the lowest priority in my opinion. We do need another ST but we have 3 experienced 1st teamers so no immediate urgency. In fact you could argue a LW should be top priority. I do feel a replacement for Sweeney is essential but in terms of numbers we have plenty of players who can play CB, we only have 2 first team wide players and whether one of those is good enough is debatable. If Bodin got injured we'd be screwed. As things stand even losing Moore would give us a serious problem. A winger should be top priority along with a CB in my opinion.

But he has scored all his goals from the right wing, some players can play on either wing but some struggle,i always felt sorry for lewis haldane for instance having to play on the left. Maybe its not an issue with wheeler though, just pointed out on here that like bb all his goals have come from right wing positions.

Same could apply to clubs thinking about an offer for Bodin...DC needs to start talking about contract extension.

Exeter City fan in peace anyone know if there is any truth in the rumour Rovers are or have tabled a bid for David Wheeler? Losing him as well as Ollie Watkins and Ethan Ampadu would not be good news for us but he is Bristol based so any move would certainly not be out of the question. If you could keep hold of him in case we sell Bodin that would be good of you.
