After the all the problems regarding Brexit, the General Election and the stadium situation, I thought I would try and lighten the mood somewhat.
So, thermonuclear war on the Korean Peninsula involving both Koreas, the US, China and possibly Japan and Russia. Throw in a Chinese grab for Taiwan too. What could possibly go wrong?

I think Trump is playing it quite well, and here's why I think that...... China is looking to trade with the world. Although there are still many problems with China and how it's governed, they have at least opened up a hell of a lot since the 1970's/80's. North Korea only survived because of the Chinese help during the Korean War, and since then they have been propped-up by the Chinese. In days gone by, North Korea was a useful fool used by the Chinese to stick pins in the West, especially the US, in the same way the Palestinians are used by the other Arab countries against Israel. I think what Trump has said to the Chinese in private is this. You sort out North Korea. You have the means, and you can do it. If you don't, then the US will sort them out, and that would end-up with US troops sat on the Chinese border, or even worse, a possible nuclear conflict on the Chinese doorstep. Is that what the Chinese want? Sort it out (China) or we (the US) will. What is best for China?

I'm no Trump fan but I believe he's already told the Chinese that if N Korea go anywhere near Guam (it is Guam they've targetted right?) Then China will have a short amount of time to step in before the US flattens the place.

The problem is Kim, how stable is he and just how far can he push things. China may have little choice but at some stage neither will Trump.

South Korea has decent armed forces and good quality equipment too, so in short, probably not. Hitting Guam and hitting the US mainland are vastly different politically and in practice, but not impossible and a theoretical ability to do it may not be tolerable to Trump.

Hitting US bases no matter where they are will be the end for N Korea. Anyone hazard a guess as to what US firepower is currently "hanging around" within striking distance? 6,7, 10 nuclear attack subs loaded to the gills, carriers with God knows what waiting on their decks, it'll be the last move Kim ever makes because they won't just go for little oil refineries, they'll go for him.

Yes, they will go for him. Command & Control is usually the first target, especially so with North Korea as I'm pretty sure they are top-heavy with Command & Control. In the Western military soldiers and lower ranking officers are taught to think for themselves. You get the impression that this is not something that is taught in North Korea, as there, it is probably not a good thing to think for yourself, just follow orders. Take out their Command & Control, and I reckon the NK military won't know what to do next.

I think it easier than that nobs, as i recall obama borrowed a sh** load of dosh from china the yanks are still paying it back, plus the chinese need to keep their markets open with the west, as a lot of money is made, look at how almost everything is now made in china, if china took the north korean side, they would be in financial trouble pretty quickly. I suspect trump said oh remember those loans we owe you for ,well if you intervene then you will never get a penny back
