Can't believe nobody has mentioned the passing of rock legend Glenn Campbell. The only singer to have a world-wide hit singing a song about a village near Bristol, "Alveston oh Alveston!". I never did get "like a nine stone cowboy" though. Was it some sort of oblique reference to the Bareback Mountain film? and that other hit, about him being a "Linesman for Notts County", well, any fool knows that clubs don't have their own linesmen. Tsk, yanks eh!

When I was younger I genuinely thought The Jackson Five sang "I spent the night in Bristol" rather than 'Frisco in the song Blame it on the boogie.
