how come we let Donovan go? Like with Matt Macey we didn't have much choice, although the rumoured £50K transfer fee looks like a bargain now.

how come we let Donovan go? Zero we can do about it. if you haven't ever read this, sit down, pour yourself a big glass of whiskey, and hide any ropes, knifes or large quantities of pills. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_Player_Performance_PlanIt basically makes sure the rich get richer and the poor stay poor, unless a sugar daddy is found. It also leads to a lot of 'farming' - hoarding excessive amounts of young talented players and then farming them out and /or selling them on for a profit. Chelsea are infamous for it of course.

Do we have a sell on clause for him? Not sure, but you would like to think so. The £50k initial fee also included appearance-based add-on clauses, so hopefully we made a few quid from last night.

Martin, are you trying to wind me up! 😀 When I read it at first, some time ago, I realised it had nothing to do with improving young talent but everything to do with making the rich clubs richer. Trouble is when you "bribe" with money and promise riches beyond what people have had then money not football becomes the driving force. And the youngsters have no chance of playing in the first team because the clubs will go out and spend millions on a foreign player. What a ridiculous system. I'll stop there, I've done enough moaning this week! UTG! ps And regarding your post, you are absolutely correct.
