I thought Broadbent had a good game, one of a very small number of Rovers' players who showed up today; one thing I did notice, he clearly only has one foot! This makes me wonder how he got into the Army? I'm sure they check for things like that! Broadbent left us exposed for goal 3. Leadbitter left us exposed for goal 1. Had no idea why more started. I said that Nichols should of started instead of Morre. Men vs boys out there today.

I thought Broadbent looked a bit shaky at times. Looked uncomfortable on his right side, beaten for pace on a couple of occasions, could've given away a penalty for blatant shirt pulling and lost his man for the third goal. That said, he was alongside Burn who was even worse!

We were well off our game today and the single most important factor was having two very inexperienced deputy centre backs. Basically we've been screwed over by the international break, which sucks. DC has been quoted as saying Parts can't play three games in a week so there went 3/4 of our back 4. Parts may well have played centre back today alongside Broadbent and that would also have made a difference.
On top of all that, though, it didn't help that Ollie Clarke and Sercombe were well below their best. Ollie hasn't recovered his form yet post injury but please keep the faith. We all know there is a very good footballer in there. Sercombe's first touch let him down far too often today, in my opinion. Lines played quite well without being able to influence the game like he can. Moore is lightweight and Bodin isn't very good at the defensive side of the game, so we ended up being very weak as a unit, defensively. With Ollie Clarke missing the bite to his game at the moment, it is a bad time for Sincs to be injured, unfortunately. Harrison did pretty well.
Bradford looked a good side, though, and in away games you do have to suck up pressure at times. Had Moore scored at the end of the first half then it may have been a different story. It is far from all doom and gloom. Nichols and Bodin looked bright and we played some nice stuff at times when we could get a toehold in the game. Locks, Sweeney and Parts back next week will make a massive difference.

Seems now that Ellis is playing well that Leads is the new scapegoat.
The main reason we lost that game was a poor defensive display (especially at set pieces), our midfield was sh** and couldn't keep hold of the ball for 5 seconds, especially in the first half and starting Byron Moore.

I agree that we lost the game in midfield today but it's hard to blame it all on that when we took two goals from set pieces to be honest. Midfield and defence was poor but only conceded 1 goal during open play to be fair. Set pieces marking was atrocious, we gifted a six footer the space to hit bullet headers so deserve the punishment for that. Hope it's better next week.

I thought the midfield struggled due to the defensive changes. The poor distribution from the back, and a lack of confidence in the midfield due to that.
On positive note... In the last week I know that burn, broadbent aren't yet good enough, and that leads (who was woeful) is nowhere near as good part.
Upwards and onwards with another tricky match ticked off.

Just the first weekend in September but Leadbitter seemed to struggle today and after seeing Joe P have two good games he seems to have more composure on the ball and thought he was missed today. For the first goal there was no one in that part of the goal to clear, haven't watched the video yet so will be interesting to see wher Leads was. Burn was poor though but I thought Broadbent was ok, probably a better first half when we were under pressure than second half when we were more in it. I suspect we will put out a stronger side next week when our defence will be back. Watching on Sky made me think do they do their research? Apart from calling us something else a couple of times they were on about our weak defence last season. On goals against they are correct but anyone knowing League 1 will know that from January onwards our defence was pretty good, it was just a shame they weren't there today!

Our defence was better after January, but we still conceded 4 against Charlton, 3 against Walsall, 3 against Bury, 3 against Gillingham, 4 against Peterborough and 4 against Millwall.

My thoughts after watching on television
Slocombe 5 looked very shaky Leadbiter 4 everything he tried went wrong
Burnumber 4 looked short of games and confidence Broadbent 5 very naive has a lot to learn Brown 6 tried to get things going but difficult with no help Bodin 7 extra point for goal but not a great deal of action. Looks weak defensively Lines 5 way off pace today Clarke 5 doesn't look fit Sercombe 5 control and vision let him down Moore 3 could have or should have scored at least 1 anonymous most of game Harrison 7.5 our best at both ends of pitch so why take h off

FWIW my thoughts Slocombe - Did okay Leadbetter - couldnt cross for toffee, couldn't pass five yards. Goes forward, stops, then passes sideways or backwards - odd Burn - Better second half unlucky with the 'block' for the second goal, but not good enough to play every week on that performance. Broadbent - Best out of the back line but inexperience let him down a little, he'll get better. Brown - couple of good moves in the second half. Nothing else of any note Moore - ineffective forgot he was playing until his header. Did well by heading it down. Lines - takes all the pace and impetus out of our attacks and is too slow. Couple of good balls in, but a lot of lazy lobs. Didn't get stuck in. Clarke - couldn't pass five yards, not himself today, too slow with the ball Bodin- did well with the ball but couldn't pass 5 yards either Sercombe - lacked confidence today, couldn't pass five yards Ellis - worked hard, wouldn't have taken him off Gaffney - didn't do anything Nichols - MOM, nice haircut, nice teeth, drove the team forwards. Poor game, can't remember many tackles that we won or even put in. We were too slow, we go forward, panic then stop, slow the game down, take all the pace out of the ball and then struggled to play a simple 5 or 10 yard pass to feet. Tactics were poor today for one Daz got it wrong. Partington should've played, Nics should've played. Onwards and upwards but worried not enough depth in our squad. UTG Did you see burns haircut! Jesus Christ!

Ollie Clarke had a shocker ...not consistent enough ...4 Moore is as poor as I have seen in the Quarters for a long time. DCs stubborn attitude in picking him is at best him trying to cover up a very poor decision in signing him. 2 Burn could have played midweek and saved Partington for today .... seriously poor error of judgement in selection . Bradford went with Five in midfield and we wonder why we couldn't retain the ball ... ? Crikey !

As a complete defensive unit (including midfield) we were very poor - it could and should have been about 6-2 as a final result. I hope the lack of recruitment does not come back and bite us - there are three first team squad players (JC - SS - AS) with potentially long term injuries coupled with at least another two players who are clearly not ready for this level of football. With the inevitable loss of form of other players at times we really are 'bare bones' as a first team squad.

Broadbent really could not do much for the 3rd their striker was going to get that goal whatever and he could have damaged himself on the post.
The issue was that 2 others let the cross come in.

Today was about being beaten by a top 6 team and team selections and the squad did not help.
We needed a midfield destroyer to break up their attacks and where was Parts and Tom should start!!

Its about time DC started rewarding players for good performances and dropping players for bad ones, some don't know if they are coming or going.
Moore must have some dodgy photographs of DC in a safe deposit box somewhere, I wouldnt have him in a L2 side.

Burn and Broadbent both made mistakes, but at times they both made some good clearances as well. Between them they only have a handful of games, so should get better with experience. Easy to blame them, but other players have switched off many times this season.
They had to deal with a lot of decent crosses into the box, especially from the right and hand side. Think they could both do a job alongside Lockyer or Sweeney but will struggle together, as they both have little experience.
Bradford dominated the first half and we were given the ball away, way too easily. We would have struggled with Sweeney and Lockyer with that many crosses coming into the box. Some excellent deliveries at times as well.

“It’s not good enough,” admitted Clarke.
“It’s a weak defensive performance. If you’re going to give teams goals from set pieces, and start the game as we started it, you’re always going to find it a difficult day."
“I think that’s looking for an excuse,” said Clarke when asked if the personnel changes made a difference.
“But it’s always difficult when you lose players to internationals, certainly when one is your skipper and spine of your team.”
“It’s an unforgivable league, there are tough games, you brush yourself down. I’m not happy, the lads know I’m not happy we’ve got to be stronger than that."
Rovers now have seven days in which to bounce back before welcoming Walsall to the Mem next Saturday, and Clarke has some very specific plans for his players.
“They’ll certainly be sick and tired of defending and heading balls that’s for sure,” said the Rovers boss.
