Slocombe 6 maybe could have done better for Pompey's second but otherwise a competent game Partington 7 back in his more comfortable right back slot had a strong first half and contributed well both defensively and offensively. Victim of an eccentric reffing decision which seemed to be based on the fact that the Pompey crowd asked for it. Bola 7 the cross for their first eventually came in from his side but most of the time he had the left sewn up. Lockyer 7 commanding first half but suffered as we started to chase the game Sweeney 6 like Lockyer his best work was done before the break Lines 7.5 ran the show in the first half and continued to work hard with less breaks in the second Sercombe 7 kept them ball hungry first half but it wasn't falling right for him in second period Clarke 6 another who found it a game of two distinctly different halves Harrison 8.5 best player on the pitch by a country mile their physical centre halves knew they'd been in a game Bodin 6.5 showed flashes of what he can do but was well marshalled most of the time Nichols 6.5 contributed to our lively first half display needs to sacrifice a live chicken to the god of goals I think ! Maybe Plymouth will turn out to be suitable opponents for him to break his duck against
Telford 6 made a chance for himself with an excellent turn but blazed the shot wide other than that found it hard to get into the game as the chances dried up Brown NOLE Dunwald NOLE At least he'll remember his Rovers debut was in front of 17k paying customers
Crowd 8 always noisy and were effectively refereeing the game Ref 2 "it's a puppet!" ...a Homer Simpson - when was the last time we had a Homer ref at the Mem? Doh Pompey 5 fair play they scored three goals and took the points but we provided a masterclass on how to take home nothing when you're the dominant team. Costly on the night but let's hope it spurs them on to not wanting that bitter taste again and we see a run of consistency

Slocombe 6 Little to do bar pick the ball out of the net 3 times Partington 6 Thought he was very honest in the first half when one of their players did a two footed lunge, he got up straight away when he could have rolled around as if in agony - had it been the other way around with 16k baying Pompey fans on his back the ref would have shown a red Bola 7 Looked very tired in 2nd half and gifted them their 3rd Lockyer 5 Not clicking with Sweeney at the moment Sweeney 5 Lines 7.5 My MOM particularly in the first half he ran the show - faded in 2nd though like most of the team Sercombe 6 Again good first half but gave the ball away too much in second Clarke 5 he has had much better nghts Harrison 7 worked hard and was unlucky with his first half booking which the crowd bought for him. A cynical foul on him by their number 5 in 2nd half went unpunished it terms of cards. Same player made a similar challenge on Parts that also went unpunished Bodin 5 opposing managers have obviously sussed us out that when Bodin fails to shine we are left impotent Nichols 5 Not played in his natural role, I wonder if Xmas will come and go without him scoring
Subs
Telford 4 little time or support to do anything of note Brown NOLE Dunwald NOLE
Ref 2 Changed the course of the game by awarding the free kick which lead to the first goal. then very inconsistent with the cards
Portsmouth Very lucky to go in 1 up. Pompey fans teased us before the game saying Pitman wasn't fit to play. He did look off the pace until his first goal but did very well for second
Crowd 8 Pompey fans were great and gave brilliant support to their team from all sides of the ground. Had to laugh near the end when they started singing 'we can see you sneaking out' when to the right of us their fans were flooding out. Thought our fans were good in the first half but like the team faded in second

This was Harrison's third MotM in the league this season, more than he managed in the last two seasons combined.
Starting XI average was 6.28, the highest for any of our league defeats this season.
10 league games into the season now, so I'll give an update on the season stats soon.
