What ever you do never ever ever ever ever ever book car hire through these robbing bastards.
Not only does the "excess waiver" insurance they offer you not work - the hire companies don't accept it, it is a form of reimbursement insurance rather than a waiver apparently - they take your payment and then the car hire company charge you again. You literally pay twice - for nothing!
You pay online for your booking and then of course you hand over your credit card at the hire desk thinking it's only for the deposit and you get charged again!
Avoid like the plague!

They offer a basic insurance cover which does not cover you against mirrors, windscreen and undercarridge. So they take a holding payment against your credit card just in case of damages, this will get refunded to you if the car is returned ok.(basically your taking a chance) But there is also the option of taking out the extra insurance which would cover you against everything. Usually they offer you this as an extra once you arrive in resort at a few euro's per day more.

Sure that's standard for car hire but rentalcars.com say they're offering you the excess waiver but the car hire company (in this case Firefly) don't accept that as the waiver - as far as they're concerned unless you by their waiver you're not waived.
The main issue though is that they quote you a price for hire and take your payment and then when pick the car up you pay again - you pay double what you thought you were going to.

That does not sound right to me,i think you have a good case to make a complaint and ask for your money back or at least a part refund. Write to the company direct and provide them with as much info as you can (credit card statement, rental agreement etc). If that does not resolve the case you can contact the European Car Rental Conciliation Service (ECRCS) which has a free service to help with unresolved complaints concerning cross border vehicle rentals within Europe. I just checked for you and Firefly is a member.
