BOOKING IS NOW OPEN The biggest date in the official Bristol Rovers Former Players Association (BRFPA) fundraising and social diary is the Annual Former Players Dinner, and booking is now open for this amazing event being held at the Mem on the evening of Thursday 26th April. The evening starts at 7pm, with guests seated at 8pm in the Poplar Insulation Hospitality Suite, and includes: - A delicious 3 course meal - The attendance of up to 32 former players from across the eras. At time of writing, the following players had confirmed their attendance: Peter Aitken, Trevor Challis, Ryan Clarke, Steve Elliott, Dave Gilroy, Bobby Gould, David Hillier, Lewis Hogg, Vaughan Jones, David Mehew, Gary Smart, Tom Stanton, Nick Tanner, Martin Thomas and Ross Weare. Many more will be added later. - The presence of current and former Rovers personalities, including our President, Wael Al-Qadi, Chairman, Steve Hamer, Manager Darrell Clarke, and BRFPA President Billy Clark. - An uproarious after dinner speech from comedian and former professional footballer, John Stiles. John is also the son of Nobby Stiles, one of only two Englishmen to have played in the finals of, and won, both the FIFA World Cup and the EUFA European Cup. - A raffle and auction of superb football memorabilia, mainly Rovers related of course. Also, following our collaboration with the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) on purchasing a specially adapted bed for Rovers record appearance holder Stuart Taylor, the PFA will be represented by Ritchie Humphreys, former PFA Chairman & Hartlepool Utd record appearance holder. He’s also an ex-team mate of DC and was on the pitch that fateful day in 2007 when Rovers crept into the play-offs & stopped Pools winning League Two! Tables for 8 of your guests cost £380
- in addition, up to two former players will join your table. A limited number of individual places are also available for £50 a head (subject to availability).
There are only a few tables left so please book your place as soon as possible, by emailing Mo Bell, the BRFPA Secretary at mo.bell@brfpa.org.uk All proceeds of the night will go to the BRFPA to promote the history and heritage of BRFC and foster the spirit of fellowship, sportsmanship and goodwill among former players and supporters. We also help ex-players and ex-team staff in practical and financial ways when necessary, the first example of which was our successful campaign to help purchase the aforementioned specially adapted bed. The line-up of former players (and a manager as well...) now includes Peter Aitken, Bob Bloomer, Trevor Challis, Ryan Clarke, Steve Elliott, Dave Gilroy, Bobby Gould, Ian Hazel, David Hillier, Lewis Hogg, Vaughan Jones, David Mehew, Christian McClean, Phil Purnell, Gary Smart, Tom Stanton, Nick Tanner, Martin Thomas, Geoff Twentyman, Ross Weare, Che Wilson and all the way from sunny Spain, David Pritchard! More will be added later. There are genuinely just a few tables left and a few individual spaces as well, so if you are interested please book ASAP.  |
