Weird, I was thinking that very thing over the weekend. I assume it was our promotion winning season

Technically, after the first and third games of the season under Buckle. +1 goal difference after wins away at Wimbledon and home against Northampton (2-1 loss at home to Torquay in between)
In terms of something which is a bit more credible (i.e. after 5 games at least) it's under Trollope...
27th October 2009 - we were +2 until losing 4-0 at home to Leeds. That was after 14 games, and at that point we were in 6th place in League One.

I actually look at the Goal difference as a good indicator, when teams have games in hand etc. For instance last season with around a month to go we were what 6-7th from bottom? But our GD had us bottom 3!!! That's why i was so worried.

I'm guessing that you looked this up? If not you need to get out more mate!!! Hopefully the Nuneaton game will be the start of a very long run of + in our GD column.

That is pathetic to be quite honest and it's down to our approach to away games for so many years. It will only ever improve if we go to win games.

I may be getting ahead of myself here but I would fully expect us to have at least +2 by this time next week. I don't want to raise expectation levels through the roof or anything because of recent form but with Nuneaton and Woking at home we have to get two wins. I've had enough of this typical old Rovers tradition of always losing games just when we think we have turned the corner nonsense and the usual coming off the back of a good win against a so called better team only to lose to a smaller side the following week! I must admit I am beginning to forget what that magic + symbol looks like on the table after our g/d.

I did indeed look it up - the statto website gave me the details. It was always going to be near the start of a season because we've been sh1t for the last few years. I guessed 09/10 in the back of my mind due to our great start that year. Low and behold, that was the case.

On March 8 this year we got our goal difference down to -1 after beating Plymouth at home when they were really flying. It looked like we were about to turn things around and move into mid-table because our GD was better than many of those around us... then on the Tuesday we lost 2-1 at home to Dagenham and that was when the rot set in. If we had managed to get a draw from that game I think we would have gone on to finish comfortably safe but our slide after that was monumental and our GD suffered badly - a 4-0 loss at Hartlepool and a 3-1 loss at Fleetwood sent us heading back in the wrong direction.

Yeah I went to that d and g game thinking I was 90% sure we'd stay up. We were on a run of 3 wins 3 draws from our last six with Beardsley up front in a 4-2-3-1 and it was working a beauty despite what people thought of Beardsley our win ratio with him in 4-2-3-1 was promotion form. Ward changed it after 60 mins brought Harrold on went back to 442 hoof it and I left the ground 90% sure we would go down ( at least if 4-4-2 and Harrold was what was going to follow) . It was what followed and it was sh**e from there on. Anyway what's done is done and hopefully 6 points this week will see us on a run once again init !!!

Had we won that game we'd have been 5 points off the play offs and unbeaten in 7 with about 12 games to go. Christ things change so quickly in football don't they eh !!!
