Speaking of Alfie Biggs anyone remember when he worked as a Car Salesman for that dealership on Stapleton Road just before the Station? Can still see him now sat on the car bonnet, hair brlycreamed and winkle pickers, the epitome of 60s rock!!! I can, bought my first bike in the shop opposite, forget the name Aye remember the bike shop used to walk past it on way to ground as my grandparents lived in Chaplin Road and had pre match drink in the Three Blackbirds, getting all misty eyed!!!

Lost 1-0 at Villa Park, Chico Hamilton i think scored right near the end, remember Carl Gilbert missed our best chance. Tote end from about 1968 before that north enclosure sat on the wall with my rattle, after about 1979 - 80 season ticket in the North stand. The Villa game I can remember was.in approx 1969/70 and was a league cup replay from memory. Forgive me if my memory is playing tricks on me. Another game that comes to mind around the same time is a game away to Everton where we dominated for a long time and hit the woodwork on several occasions before losing to a late goal.

Regular Tote Ender from 1964 on - although did watch from the Haaaarold enclosure from time to time. Not one to get too nostalgic, but boy, if for just one more time if I could have the smoke of a Woodbine in my face, the stench of Gas wafting over the pitch & thud of an Alfie Biggs header crashing into the Tote End goal.......... I'm filling up now 😢 Speaking of Alfie Biggs anyone remember when he worked as a Car Salesman for that dealership on Stapleton Road just before the Station? Certainly can, showroom was on the left under the railway arches heading towards the city centre.

Yes is was about then, League cup quarter final replay, we were all down one side of the pitch. Went in a large convoy of coaches with my dad. The Everton game was a choker for me, had tickets but the game was cancelled and i wasn't allowed to go to the midweek rearranged game because of bloody school. You're correct about us being unlucky to lose too.

You're correct about us being unlucky to lose too. Five of us hired a car from Hertz in Fairfax street, a Cortina 1600E and drove up to Goodison for the Everton game. This was in contrast to the Villa game where our self drive minibus broke down on the way home. That's another story!

Anyone recall?

First game in Tote End September 1966. Dad gave me 2 bob extra pocket money so I could go and watch the Rovers. Ended up over the years in the North Enclosure.

Yup loved the Tote, was a whole other world that i still miss, glue sniffing at the back of the tote, getting hokey cokey'd, fending off a bloody Alsatian that the copper couldn't handle, remember having a coughing fit after a smoke, puked and got a sharp smack in the face as it landed on a coppers foot, christ some of the posters these days would be spiting purple water at some of the antics we got up to,kin hell how many games on the trot did the cry What a load of rubbish go on for, never stood in any other part of the ground always the Tote, always felt safe and tense at the same time. Can remember a skip full of rubble in the muller rd car park close to the away end, remember my dad losing it and throwing the rubble into the away end, hoping he'd get the copper that watered him off, bought a copy of the anarchists cook book in the tote, kin hell now it's deemed a terrorist publication, how things have changed for the worst. Midland are you sure your teeth arnt embedded in the police dog

Fair play to you all....
I never went in the tote, not something I particularly regret never doing as at least I got to see games at eastville, as my dad took me and my sister to the north enclosure from 84....

Add me to the list, 1974 great times Southampton cup match we all know what happened at the end of that match, also i think it was on a good Friday we played that other lot over the river, huge crowd reported as 28000 but there were rumours it had to be around 35000, never seen ground so packed you could not get up the steps at the back of the Tote, result was 0-0, remember back page of Daily Mirror had photo of some poor bugger being carried off the pitch on a stretcher with the headlines the Battle of Bristol.
