Again, can you explain how you would have handled the Taylor situation? If they are so obviously sh** at handling these things you must surely have an alternative? listen Eric, I'm not the one sat at the table, what I'm saying is, we should have got more than we did. Also Never sold him to them. Allowing it to even get to that stage is unacceptable. Are you completely ignoring the very easy to understand facts that I explained fo you?

I really don't know what it is you don't get about the Taylor saga. He says "I'm off (for nothing) unless there is a 300k release clause". If you recall how long the whole thing dragged on for, we clearly had little choice. Exactly. The truth is remove ‘Bristol City’ from the equation and say he ended up at Preston. You could argue that we played it well. 300k for someone that could’ve left for free. And came close to signing for others... It’s the City shenanigans that make the taylor situation bitter. As Darrell said- it was a minimum release clause. City cheated and won. Loosing to them is what hurts. But the reality is we played the taylor situation, best we could.

Some interesting views on this thread.
I think maybe I didn't word the thread title well as many have picked up on that.
Perhaps it should have been something along the lines of "Will failure to make quality signings make you lose faith in the board?"

I’d like to see one or two good signings but with a few caveats. Firstly I don’t want overpaid or overpriced players just for the sake of it eg Guy Branston and similar. I’d rather have young and promising players we can develop into quality players-with a likely view to getting a decent fee in the future. Secondly I’d like to see money being spent to develop the club into a better and more sustainable enterprise - even if it is just the start of the development of he training ground. And thirdly it’s not my money and therefore it’s up to the ALQs to chose how it’s spent but I’d like to see some intent from the board to promote and drive a vision. I don’t need millions spent in the next few weeks but something to show they are committed to the club would be much appreciated. I’d also like to point out that if we lose faith in this board it doesn’t look like we have a load of other options lined up.

and a good crowd to play in front of every week,if I had a choice of signing for Gas or someone like fleetwood don’t care what their training facilities are like I would go to the Gas Playing in front of 2-4 k each week must be sh**e Isnt it about money and security though? 2 years at fleetwood or 1 year deal at rovers same money offered the footballer would surely choose fleetwood? With your logic a player would choose bristol city over bournemouth because they get 20,000 gates even though bournemouth pay much more and play in the top division. If fleetwoods crowds are rubbish compared to us ours are rubbish compared to a great many other teams. fleetwood big wages are they? How do they manage that with their gates and ffp

With regards to FFP an owner in league 1 can easily get around that within the rules.

Personally I think we've got plenty of young, promising players but at this stage we need a bit of experience for the young players to learn from, and to nit the team together. Lee Mansell style.
Of course, it has to be the right experienced players, with the right attitude.

I think our budget is going to remain bottom 6, so a lowering of expectations will be needed.
