The closure was on the cards but I was sad to see it too, and not just because the shop is the first choice here for picking up anything Rovers-related. The shop was a giant advertising hoarding for the club on a busy main road and caused a lot of people on this side of town to think of Rovers first when they thought of Bristol football. Their major influences from now on will be whatever the Post and the BBC choose to feed them. That's a good point.

I remember the old supporters club shop at Eastville.Think it's a mosque now or something.Used to walk from Totterdown to pick up a coach for away trips there as it was too early in the day for the buses to have started.Tubby guy called Bob Andrews who was the life and soul organised it all.Cinema on the corner called Her Majestys (Later re-named Concorde I think).Blimey how old am I?

While I appreciate the whys and wherefors of this, Might be a massive opportunity missed to make it an official BRFC outlet? Satellite club shop transferring staff from the mem to 2 mile hill? Only opening the club shop on matchdays etc etc?

An outdated organisation that has no place in modern football. Bin the shop and get everything online. Whatever next, half day closing on a Wednesday? Cut out the FREE tickets given to various individuals who have:-
1 - never played for BRFC 2 - do not work for BRFC 3 - can bring along as many 'friends' as they like
I am not on about the tickets given to schools to encourage young supporters.
The club is being defrauded by these individuals.

I Agree with this. also if the stadium is being redeveloped, we may need it as access to a building site might not be allowed due to health and safety regulations. It is sad the shop is closing. I grew up in Wick and lived in Kingswood for 12 years. The shop showed how important Kingswood was to our fan base.

Cant cost alot to run surely?!? ...x3 peoples wages plus rent etc....funny how it had always been kept open in the past. Another feel good factor ripped from the club this last year... Business rates, electricity, insurances, national insurance, cleaning, it goes on and on.

I wonder if the club will open a shop on Gloucester Road? Plenty of foot traffic and means there is space freed up at the Mem site.

It annoys me that certain individuals have no conscious and seen to think it is their right to get free admission.

Just have to watch a certain steward letting his buddies in the Thatchers end (maybe for cash) if I can see it why can't the club I pay to watch the club I support

If it was a seated stand there could be trouble doing this .
