Sercombes goal was straight out of the Billy Bodin training video. Nice! Ever since he arrived I’ve ssid he’d be best on left cutting in on his right. He’s a very similar player I think. In an attacking sense anyway. |

In the build up to the our winning our first goal yesterday their two managers were shouting at their strikers to press. They pressed (alone), we worked it around them, won a corner and scored.
Amused me. In my opinion, this is why DC is a cut above- he doesn’t often charge down the refereee and his advice is logical and thought out. The Bradford duo were hot headed and wanted the ball too far from goal. Instructed their forwards to press alone and we picked them off.

Having watched the penalty, the Ref must have felt the ball would have been knocked back to where he was standing, which was clearly blocking the Bantams player next to him. He got in the way a lot yesterday.

Yeah, I feel we always have a better shout when we are being pressed. Istm when teams sit two rows of four (or whatever) behind the ball we often just slow it down and play it from side to side without much idea of how to break through. When they press, we always seem to have a chance. |

But OC was knocked over by Parts and his hand fell on to the ball, he didn't delbritatley bend down to stop the ball, I assume in future if we blast a ball at a defender and it hits their arm it's a pen on the basis it blocked a cross or shot. Having said I do wonder whether Ellis having missed his shot just threw himself into the player to get his pen, I can't work that one out, also a good nudge by Nichols on the defender led to the ball finding its way to Ellis. Did Sercs find BB's spare football boots at half time as that as Bodin type performance from him in the 2nd half yesterday. |
