Just to say a big thanks to Jon & Parrot for organising yesterday (and the the three points) it was great meeting those there and shall definetly go to the next one (even if I don't win the lucky draw). Also went and bought Away the Gas excellant value at £9.99 Kevin Bishop (aka Westbury Gas). It's really difficult to explain to people what a great day it is. There is such diverse bunch of people and a lot of the fun is in table hopping and just saying hi to people you would never normally meet. I have sat with different people at every event we've done and always had a great time. Obviously the same can't be said for the people that have been stuck next to me.....

Thanks to everyone. Great day can't wait for the next one! Interesting to meet Hugo and realise ee used to stand inches from each other in the Blackthorn end. Keep up the good work.

Firstly, thank you everyone for the great feedback. What a fantastic day! Just like to thank everyone who attended and to all FFS members without whom these sponsored matches couldn't happen. A message from Rovers marketing dept. below: I hope you and the rest of the FFSC had an enjoyable day out here in the DriBuild Suite on Saturday. May I take the opportunity on behalf of the Club to thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you again very soon. Great to see everyone enjoying themselves inc. Christian and his girlfriend. Christian was so happy and proud to be invited and the feelings he felt amongst everyone prompted his little speech to our man of the match Lee Mansell. The togetherness on show was inspiring and the 3 points topped it off! This event alone raised over £1500 for the football club we all love, and i'm pleased to tell you that our collection boxes on the tables raised £109 for Young City fan Oskars Appeal! A massive thank you must go to Parrot who's treasurer skills have much improved our FFS Club this season and his hard work and dedication are a major reason for this events success and why it ran smoothly. I think sometimes a picture paints a thousand words, and i'll leave you with this that sums up the day superbly...... (hi-res image available) ...now that's four Proud and Happy Gasheads, equaled only by their families and fellow Gasheads on the day. Together we have now raised over £10,500 in under two years! That is down to everyone of you.
So, to anyone and everyone who has joined us at a Sponsored game, joined the FFS as a member, taken part in or paid a GasBill or generally just had a kind word to say about us.....THANK YOU
.

Wonder if we could get organised enough and give plenty of notice whether we could get more along to the next one ?
We had 40 yesterday - Reckon we should aim for 80 next time and take over the whole hospitality suite ?

Can't help but smile every time I see that photo of the four lads Me too Tilly, that picture epitomises the whole thing for me. Parrot suggested next time we fill the whole of Hospitality, what a great achievement that would be, but to do it will require spreading the word massively, we have a very loyal nucleus of members and posters, that nucleus will need to grow. It will involve turning non-members into members. We will need more people to invite and persuade others to join The FFS. On here will be a start, members need to convince others why it's worth joining, what it means to them, what they feel they get out of it etc. Parrot and myself can only do so much in regards gaining more members before we are seen as the blokes that keep waving the tin in front of everyone and start to become annoying and boring. We need to expand the horizon, at present once a thread has been read it is largely ignored by the masses, maybe The FFS needs promoting in general threads, match day threads etc. Can our members encourage others to join? Only as a group can we make this grow, togetherness is an assett. Great things are not achieved by individuals but by a team effort. If every member could convince someone to join, well, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to realise that our membership would double....Can it be done? Maybe, maybe not, but there's only one way to really find out. UTG

The match sponsorship is fantastic value for money.
You get:
a seat in the Dribuild boxes
A 3 course meal
A programme
Half time refreshments
Presentation of the MOTM award
Great company
All for 42 pounds a head.
However, I appreciate that not everyone can afford it these days.
I have been wondering if the club was able to do a cheaper option for us. I'm thinking along the lines of perhaps a different room, finger buffet food and maybe a 'block' of terrace or cheaper seats that could bring the price down to a more affordable cost? Not that I'm suggesting we do away with the Match Sponsor option, but just a more cost effective way for even more FFSC members to meet up and enjoy the game together at some point.
Any thoughts?

Paul, sent you a message. I sit in the stand so haven't attended a FFSC do yet, although I always try to pop in and have a little chat if I reconize someone. Have never watched from one of the Exec' boxes though,so how much would that cost and is it an idea for the FFSC? (Not Box 1 of course!!)

Any thoughts? great (sozzled) minds must think alike. I was going to ask something similar but procrastinating as I didn't know whether it was something to put on here, or to email Jon with. As you said NOTHING wrong with the full hospitality deal at all, and long may it continue. However, I was simply going to say that the more I think about how miserable it can be supporting BRFC, and at times how lonely, AND how people have arguments on forums that they wouldn't have face-to-face, the more I thought that wouldn;t it be great to get even more people together, maybe by having a slightly more general / cheaper option where you can get more numbers, and then put more faces to names, and have a good chat / rant in the company of real people all of whom are Rovers fans at heart, but have just be SO frustrated at how things have gone for a lot of the last 15 years, and may have slightly different opinions than you. I simply cannot afford £40 at the mo, no matter how good the deal is (not helped by me using my student card - don't laugh! - to get a terrace tkt for £9-11, which means the 'extra' cost of hospitality is not circa £20, like it is for most people, but more like £30). Not sure what this other gathering could be, but might be something worth mulling over... I guess it sounds a bit like the supporters cub bar... not sure what the answer is... could even be a reserve game / FA trophy game?

Boxes above West Stand are dearer as regards a deal as they are very popular and allow more privacy for groups and are often sold out, therefore are unlikely to make a better deal for members as there are no free places as regards a package. We can of course find out more if the idea is popular.
FA Trophy/Reserve/youth games would be the cheap option but are usually on night games which aren't as popular.
What we really need is to spread the word and encourage more (as MM) says to meet in person and buy into our idealogy, The FFS is open and available to EVERYONE to enjoy and contribute no matter how positive/negative they are on Forums etc, At present we have 120 members, we will need to expand and encourage others to join or remain as we are. This Forum alone has 600 members all of whom care deeply about BRFC, Can we spread the awareness and promote the unity?
The need is this: Pass it on, encourage another poster to join us, explain why you think they should join. This can be done simply and without any need for confrontation just on here as a start. Promotion is key, both on and off the pitch!

You find the opinions don't change but you appreciate the person making them more. You also get to meet a few quiet lurkers that you either didn't realize you knew (Simon1883) or who you just liked and wished they posted more! (thats you Blueside and Rod to name a couple) I must admit I was really nervous before the first Meet up we did but I can honestly say I have made some good friends from it. Just goes to show.
