Smith 7.5 one good save first half good all round game Partington 5 got beat to often and a bit slow Sweeney 7 solid put his body on the line more than once Broadbent 8 as above just a bit more composed Bola 5 same as Parts but better when switched to right back Lines 6 ok sat very deep second half O. Clarke 6 as above Sercombe 5 nowhere near his best Sinclair 7 tireless Gaffney 6 scored but lost or gave the ball away far to often Harrison 9 superb gave their defence no peace, scored a good goal, defended our box and set up Gaffers goal. Subs: Brown 7 made us more solid and kept their right winger under control more Menayese 6 Crowd 8 Ref 4 Doncaster 5 they dominated second half with us sat so deep, but missed their chances and Ellis killed them off.

Smith 7 Good game. Couldn’t do much about the goal, one outstanding save in the first half
Partington 5 Not a great game for him. Made a couple of bad errors that could’ve been costly had Doncaster’s finishing not been so woeful Broadbent 7 Solid and composed on the ball Sweeney 7 Solid at the back and good to see him on the scoresheet Bola 6 Didn’t get close enough to his man a few times, including for their goal and did occasionally get beat by their winger, but also did well on occasions
Lines 7.5 Thought he had a good game. I would’ve never chosen to put him in that holding role but he got his foot in to intercept well a few times and was good on the ball. Put the balls into the box for the first two goals so a vital contribution today Sercombe 6 Not his best game O.Clarke 6.5 Average on the whole but put his foot in a few times Sinclair 7 Worked hard as always and used the ball well
Gaffney 7 Very composed for his finish when many would’ve tried to hit it first time and won the ball well for Ellis’s goal also Harrison 9 MOTM Superb. Won a lot in the air, was good on the ball and didn’t stop running and battling, a defenders nightmare and a great finish for the goal he deserved, absolutely superb!!
Brown 6.5 Did ok when he came on, we looked more solid with him but that may also have been due to the formation change when Rollin came on Menayese 6.5 Same as above
Crowd 7 Good numbers considering the journey, quiet for long periods though Ref 6 Didn’t do too bad from my point of view, Doncaster fans might say different as he turned down a few penalty shouts and seemed to miss something where they were asking for Ellis to be sent off, although I didn’t see that either. I’d say he did us more good than harm today Doncaster 5 They dominated possession really in the second half and I’d say they had the better chances. Had their finishing been better, they would’ve walked out winners today
On the whole a good performance and a great result. The lack of width in midfield concerns me a little, defensively as much as in attack, as all of Doncaster’s threat came down the wings.

Smith 7 - Great first half save, very competent Partington 6.5 - Another tricky winger against him, not at his best Broadbent 8.5 - Played on th unfamiliar right side. Didn't put a foot wrong, again. Sweeney 8 - Improved performance and a tap in. Bola 6.5 - In my opinion was the weak link, too many pointless balls and not as fast as he has been. Lines 7 - Faded in the second half Clarke 7 - Better first half, is definitely returning to last season's form. Sinclair 8 - Asked to play in different roles and adapted well. Two great chances which were well saved. Sercombe 7.5 - Not as effective on the left but still a good source. Gaffney 7.5 - Great battling performance without an end product (apart from the goal) Harrison 9 - Wow, a constant irritant to a small Donny defence. Superb goal, Ellis is now the complete centre forward and turning heads. Hats off to him.
Subs Brown 6.5 - Slotted in to left back well Menayese 6.5 - Did all that was expected of him Nichols - NOLE
Ref 4 - Let too much go early on and lost control. I think one of the many home appeals for a penalty was justified. D.C. 10 - 4 formation changes which did the job Donny 5 - Good attacking with no end product. Defensively poor but had no centre halfs fit. Crowd 7 - Good following but quiet for most of the game.
Donny ran rings around us for the first 15 mins and we looked as though we would struggle but the tinkerman prevailed and made changes that blunted them. Superb effort by Ellis who battled and bullied the make shift Donny defence. Home fans not happy but IMO Ellis did nothing untoward that warranted the red card they wanted. The two left footed central defenders did well and ensured the skipper was not missed. Bola is the only player that worries me as he does not seem to be in tune with the rest of the team. Anyway 3-1 away from home is a cracking result UTG, roll on Shrewsbury!!!

Great to be able to witness another away victory. When Doncaster scored early on it seemed a case of here we go again but credit to Rovers they managed to get back into the game in the latter part of the first half.Donny had more posession 2nd half but we managed to score at the right times and a combination of poor finishing by them together with the formation changes by DC and a ref who would not be swayed by the home cr8wd saw us through and make it a more enjoyable journey home.

Smith 6 not much to do again
Partington 6.5. Played better than some people think Sweeney 7. Decent after shakey start Broadbent 7 Same as Sweeney Bola 6. I thought he was the weakest defender
Lines 7. Better than earlier in the season O. Clarke 6.5. Decent Sercombe 6. Not as dynamic as usual but that’s the way the team was set up. Sinclair 6.5. Usual busy self
Gaffney 7. Good goal but faded towards the end. Harrison 8. Very good. He’s having a great season
Subs: Brown 6. Did his job Menayese 6. Same.
Crowd 8 Ref 5 Doncaster 6

Results in and Ellis Harrison was Man of the Match with a score of 8.75. This was his 12th of the season in all competitions. Adam Smith is the next highest with 4. Harrison was MotM in both games against Doncaster this season, the 7th time a player has done this in both league games against the same opposition. The others were Trotman v FGR, Lockyer v Accrington, Mansfield and Crawley, Ollie Clarke v Chesterfield and Gaffney v Peterborough. Taylor was MotM in both a League Two and an FA trophy game against Wycombe in 15/16. Gaffney is the only player to extend that run to three games against the same opposition as he was again MotM against Posh earlier this season. This was smudge1 's 100th rating in the Player Ratings threads. His average rating has been 6.54 compared to the general average of 6.26. His highest rated game was Bolton away giving it a 8.5, whereas his two lowest games have been the Shrewsbury away games in the last two seasons (1.4 then 2.3) The starting XI averages was 6.83 Smith 7.0 Partington 5.4 Broadbent 7.7 Sweeney 7.3 Bola 5.9 Lines 6.8 O. Clarke 6.3 Sercombe 5.8 Sinclair 7.1 Gaffney 7.0 Harrison 8.8Subs: Brown 6.5 Menayese 6.3 Crowd 7.4 Ref 5.4 Doncaster 5.3

This is why Harrison is player of the season for me and not Sercombe. Sercombe throws too many poor games in whereas Ellis has been at it all season. Sercombe's biggest weakness for me is off the ball.
