Note to self: don't make panic buys after a defeat.

Injury issues such a Turleys are not always About being ok to play but likelihood of re-injury. I would guess Eastleigh dont have the quality of centre backs we have and have rushed him back.
I keep saying how much i rate Higgins but we are winning for the 4th game in a row so f**k it

He's at Telford KP - if that's what you meant by the question.

Higgins by all accounts had plenty of trials over the summer and no-one took him on at the time. I wonder why that was? I'm not disagreeing with you, I just genuinely wonder what the reasons were, when the general consensus from the evidence of the pre-season matches was that he is a tidy player with a good attitude.

Hi its not based on pre season, i have friends involved with the Everton academy and watched him a few times for them. From what I have seen and heard im suprised how his career has gone. Alongside the guy i begged us to get last season Hallum Hope i thought they would be amazing at league 2 level. As i said though we are flying and at present who cares

Thanks Dinsdale, I didn't know he was on your radar before. Interesting, hope he makes it back up into the league before too long.

Leadbitter looked decent today. Not polished defensively but was a very good outlet going forward and his pace was dangerous. Won the free kick for the goal with good work. Clear that Balanta isn't fit yet but he could be useful when he is.

I understand that Turley was Man of the Match today for Eastleigh. What bloody went wrong?

I can quite happily confirm that we didn't miss Higgins today, imagine getting whipped 5-0 in your first match, crushing.
just to add Turley didn't get a mention in their match commentary today, maybe we'll be ok without them

The thing with Higgins is he really impressed in some pre-season games and many of us wanted to sign him but it's easier to get an indication of a player in training than it is in a few tune-up matches. Leadbitter got a bit of a rough end of the stick because Higgins was so impressive and Leadbitter had a shocker in the Barnet away game. The shocker in itself would have been forgotton if people never would have seen Higgins so it was easy to say we should have signed Higgins instead. From a comment on the Telford forum, Higgins didn't have the best game there today "The new right back made a couple of mistakes and is very small, he was easily beaten in the air for the second goal." - that doesn't make him a bad player, but nor did the bad game for Leadbitter. Thought Leadbitter had a decent game today (better going forward than defending but a decent all round game nonetheless) and had a good game including a goal against Lincoln. We'll see over the course of the season how he goes but he shouldn't be judged against how Higgins looked in a few games, he should be judged on his own merits.

A few too many getting hung up about Higgins. DC didn't want him, nor did a lot of others by the sound of it. Move on.

Telford's tweets said he got beat badly for one of the goals but otherwise did some nice things and looked solid. Good luck to him and at the same time I'm happy with our squad. DC is paid to make the tough decisions and that's what he did.

Had a chat with Turley on Twitter. He said RoverS were perhaps a little too cautious about his injury which he said was understandable with their history of injured signings. He indicated to the club he had to get signed up asap and if they reallly wanted him hey would have signed him. No grudges and wished us well.
