You know the question 'what did the Romans ever do for us? well 'what did Bristol ever do for us? so they can keep their crest and stick it where the sun dont shine! come to think of it the Romans could have built us a decent stadium, we could call it 'THE ROVERS COLISEUM', OR 'THE COLISEUM OF THE ROVERS' ? it would still be here now, all be it a bit of a ruin and a mess,oh hang on a minute ,think i be getting up to the Mem wive me metal detector!

Yes I totally agree and have thought the same for a long time, I had a tattoo of the coat of arms crest with Bristol Rovers F.C. wrote above on the ribbon on my left calf done in 1991 when the sh1t had their cartoon robin and suspension bridge badge only for them to change it to the coat of arms of Bristol a few years after. Imagine the stick I got from some of my sh1thead mates and lads I played football with but my response was of not giving two f@cks and Rovers being Bristol’s oldest professional club. I stayed defiant and it’s still there to the day, I ve been pulled by Rovers fans and 82ers alike over the past 26years for varying stories but would love to see Rovers revert to this badge it would shut those c@nts right up . I still think that mine other than having Bristol Rovers F.C. above is a far better design than their crap attempt , their unicorns look like a version of my little pony. You aren't choosy then. I hope you aren't expecting us dogs to join in your filthy depraved game
Oh the irony scooby doo accusing me of dogging 🤣🤣

The current badge is fine. It is instantly recognisable and represents the clubs nickname of the pirates. You could do a redesign still basing it on the pirate theme if you wanted to. The Bristol City 1982 ltd Sports : Soccer dept. logo is a play on the OTIB idea from when Rovers were at Bath. Its all they have to cling too .
Rovers have the pirate ...city have a robin. Rovers have an anthem...City don't. Rovers have a pretty unique kit...City don't.
Rovers should promote the kit/nickname link more though. Over the player tunnel should be written "Give no Quarter " with a pirate flag.
Quartier or faire war was the practice of taking prisoners for ransom or exchange. Give no quarter meant ,its a fight to the death.

I think the crest looks a but shits to be honest. It is more original than a robin to be fair. Would do themselves a favour getting red of any association to robins. Cheltenham and Swindon are two right on the doorstep that also call themselves the robins because they play in red. Surely Bristols history has something to offer the sh** and the trashton area.
Our logo personally I would like to see it minimalised, bit like Tottenhams. Just have the pirate stitched in black, 1883 underneath

I'm very happy with our logo, as others have said it's different, not a traditional boring type like most clubs.
The strength of our brand, unique identity (the quarters / pirate logo / goodnight Irene etc) and depth of our club history is one thing we have over the other lot so in my view we don't need to change it.
I don't care about the Bristol crest tbh, it's not that striking a design and certainly isn't a symbol of pride that the teds can take any credit for.

Wasn't that crest on our shirts back in the 80s? Definitely not in the 1980s The real historians may have a better idea, but I do vaguely recall the Bristol crest on the shirt from some photos in the 1950s, but it was pretty short lived if that was the case. I know the Bristol crest was worn on club blazers during the 1970s (and presumably before). This site: www.historicalkits.co.uk/Bristol_Rovers/Bristol_Rovers.htmsuggests the crest was adopted in the 1950s, but never worn on the shirts. I used to have a triangular flag with it on, I was given it in the 80s thats why Im a bit confused I suppose, it may well have been from the 50s

Never on the shirts but it was on scarves (ah those "silk" scarves) during one of our many glorious cup winning days. Brian Godfrey would be a good signing. Does he still play? Edit: just seen that he passed away a few years ago. I'd forgotten that. RIP

I think our pirate has got a bit of a camp captain jack sparrow look about it but I do like having a pirate. He just doesn’t look that tough and pirates should be tough looking and not camp. Johnny Depp can get away with it not sure about our badge though.

I like the present crest. Very distinctive, pirate is clear and our blue and white quarters are incorporated into it. Doesn’t need changing imo, our colours, nickname, long history all reflected in the badge as it is. Seem to remember Leeds a few weeks ago got themselves into a real mess when changing something that lots of them didn’t think needed to change. I never compare ourselves with that lot south of the river after all they had to have a new badge when they were formed in 82. We’ve been going since 1883 and have a far longer history and longer traditions. UTG!

Nil carborundum illegitimi. volenti non fit injuria (Tiddly om pom pom), Nunc universo gaudio, Ludo pensisque functi, etc, etc,......Sumus Bristolienses. Ought to be able to adapt the old school song as a Rovers refrain especially where the multiple repetitions of “Sit” in the chorus were always shouted out with an extra h in them. 😂

There's also this which looks like it is from the 70s: Sew on patches were all the rage in the early 70s and I had that one as well, but I think it was non-official merchandise.
