Player Ratings Bristol Rovers vs Scunthorpe United (RESULTS)

My own opinions of Saturday's match.

Smith 6.5 A real mixed game. one good and one excellent reaction save, but weak at crosses. Rolled the ball out early a couple of times in the first half then but was then reluctant to do so in the second. Also came rushing out unnecessarily a couple of times.

Partington 7 One of the few players to look to put a foot on the ball. Started a good move that led to the goal.
Lockyer 8 Read the game really well with interceptions and tackles. Distribution wasn't great but no worse than Stones against Wigan the other day.
Craig 6.5 Seemed solid enough for most of the game. Although his distribution also wasn't great I was more frustrated by how many time he went backwards. He's not a poor signing but Broadbent had put in a string of top performances and was an exciting prospect.
Brown 6 At fault for the goal but got a couple of decent crosses in. No understanding yet developed between him and Bennett.

Sercombe 6 Hard to mark as he was out of the game out wide. Got more involved when moved to the middle, yet it was the right wing where he set up our goal from. 
Lines 4 A real off game today. Didn't offer enough control in the middle of the park. Its been commented that he can't play in a two with Sinclair and from this showing I'd agree. 
Sinclair 3.5 Covered a lot of the pitch but struggled to create anything going forward. Also felt he should have closed down Ojo before he released the pass for their goal.
Bennett 5 Not involved in the game enough, but when he was he looked good. A couple of decent shots and nice link-up play

Gaffney 6.5 Hard going but he linked up okay. Felt he was playing than Harrison when he was subbed.
Harrison 6.5 Got the goal at the end and was a big asset defending corners but for the rest of the game he struggled going forward. 

Subs: Moore 6 A couple of nice touches but I'd have preferred to see him on the right.
Mensah 4 Maybe I'm being harsh as he is clearly still raw but felt he could have worked harder. At one point Partington was left 2-on-1 as Mensah was strolling back on the halfway line. Harrison busted a gut to get back and snuff out the danger.
Telford 5 He may have shown some fight by challenging against the big Scunthorpe centre backs but he didn't win the ball and I'm struggling to remember anything he created.

Ref 9 Can't remember a decision I disagreed with at all.
Scunthorpe 5 Hard to believe on that showing that they are 5th in the league. It was a low-quality game from both sides though.

Results in and Tom Lockyer was Man of the Match for a second game in a row.

The runner-up in the match was actually the referee, Darren Handley, with a score of 7.25. This is the seventh time a ref has been runner-up, whilst the ref has been 'MotM' nine time.
