Poor old Leads has a real problem with those hamstrings though. He is more talented than James Clarke but Clarke is a solid pro and there's a case to be made for keeping him on rather than Leads. I think there's also a case for keeping both as Clarke is also a better right sided centre back than Parts, so offers cover there too. There could also be the case for not keeping either Clarke and Leads, limited ability and injury issues for Clarke and very sadly injuries with Leads - would be very surprised if both stay. I'd think DC will get a new face at LB as Brown has struggled generally in L1. Then you'd have Parts and Leads/Clarke on right and Brown and new signing on the left.

Bennett was excellent They were better when Pereira replaced JJOT, his forward passing was very effective. We were so dominant and such the better team. Disappointing to have one stole from us, but we've done that a lot this season so we can't complain. Gaffney had a mare. Some of the interplay between bennett, lines and sercs was pleasing on the eye. Another goal conceded from a floated ball in the box. Our fans - we keep the ball and pass it around the back and there's disgruntlement and shouts of "get it forward". What's wrong with keeping the ball and probing without lumping it?! Also about 5 rows behind me a punter was slagging off Byron moore, whatever happened to supporting the quarters? In general it's a sign of how far we've come in comparison to the cobblers who walked the league a few years ago. UTG I predicted that we would still have the many moaners if we reached this level, when we were in the conference. Sadly, faithful & true doesn’t mean much to a lot but are just speeded up words in our anthem. Sometimes it needs some perspective and to see how far we have come, in a very short space. If this were a one team city then I’d maybe understand but with the 82 so far ahead of us I guess this is what disenfranchises many. Being Rovers is not for the faint of heart

Because Partington and Leadbitter are better RB's. Going forward I'd agree with you but I think Clarke is better defensively than both of the others which is why in past seasons he's played in a lot of the away games. Obviously everyone has their own opinions on the make up of the squad but as someone who is more than adequate cover right across the back 4 I'd be very surprised if he was released. If the team has good enough strikers and good enough midfielders who can all do their jobs properly then you only really need a defender who can defend well. The attacking part of their game should be seen as an occasional bonus and not a major part of their game,as that implies the people in front of them are not up to doing their job properly. James Clarke is a top player for D.C. because he does the basics well and will adapt to different defensive roles as asked with the right attitude. D.C. in my opinion will want a few players like J.C. in his squad at any level. They will never attract the spotlight but they can be relied upon to do a job.

Agree with your comments about JC but last 10 minutes of game yesterday it seemed to me he had a few opportunities to put the ball into the box early but instead chose to pass on responsibiliy for doing so to a team mate which slowed play down and played into Northampton's hands. Not intended as a criticism but this is why players like JC will not play higher than L1 imo.

Fair point ,though has to be put in the context of Rovers themselves being a long way from being able to play at a higher level than league one. I am guessing that JC replaced Partington as there must have appeared to be a defensive weakness coming down that side of the pitch ? Its not as if there were not enough attacking players on the pitch.

Our defence had been showing improvement long before Craig had arrived. I'm not sure about it as a partnership. Also whilst on the defence, James Clarke coming on for Partington today showed the difference between those 2. Partington was fantastic whilst James Clarke is a very limited player. Would release him in the summer unless he is on ridicilously low wages. He offers us very little. Didn't see James Clarke put a foot wrong for the time he was on. He is a right back and not a defensive wing back after all. Didn't do much wrong but didn't do anything particularly great either. Partington is a much better footballer.

I think in todays game most managers demand that their full backs can get forward and effect the game offensively and dc most certainly does.

Yeah think how many Goals Lee Brown has created for us over the years. Leads too but to less extent. My first choice full backs with everyone fit would be Brown and Parts. They both defend and attack and give us more balance. Leads for when we need more pace against a fast winger.

Does where you live make a difference about comparison stuff? Haven’t lived in Bristol for 50 years so they’re not anything I ever think about except on a Saturday afternoon when I smile to see them lose. But if you live in Bristol, even in the same street, perhaps it’s more of an issue and some could get “obsessed”. I’ve always said I don’t even think about them but perhaps it’s easier for me being well away from Bristol. Do you Bristol fans hate them more than us Bristol exiles do? UTG!

Probably depends on who we associate with. Personally those City fans I work with tend to not be too bad, not that I've experienced many derby matches recently and as such I am like you, smile when they lose or do badly but try and ignore when they have done well. I think KP is concermed that we are being left behind and losing a generation of fans, which I partly agree with. I say partly, this is because since we left Eastville I have thought we have about 3 years to catch up off the pitch in terms of new facilities before losing the neutral casual fan were they to do well. 30 years later I am still thinking this. Bristol and the surrounding area is large enough to support both teams and the north Bristol fringe is constantly growing, both within the existing Bristol community and from people moving in from elsewhere. People are not really born fans, they learn to love a club, be that through family or what we can offer. They have had a 30+ year head start and for me the only real gamechanger came with the completion of the Lansdown Stand with the corporate facilities. I think they didn't even have executive boxes until then. Couple that with their good start to the season and us starting again stadium wise and you can see why some are concerned. 12 months ago it was different with them staring relegation in the face and us seemingly about to sign off on the UWE. It turned around quickly and so can again back in our favour.
