Just looked up how these clubs are doing. Braintree 8th Conference south Southport 12th Conference north Altrincham 1st Northern premier league! heading back to the conference north yay! Cheers Bertram, christ what a sobering thought looking at that! Not that long ago we were on a level playing field with those donkeys. (Assess ourselves mind you!). So bring on Charlton, Wigan and Blackbum. Woohoooo! UTG. Exactly right. Look at Grimsby and Barnet ...there was not a great deal between us all that long ago. Now what's happened ...we could well be two divisions apart next season. (maybe three )

3 cracking teams to play against though, all with 10k + gates too. Much better than - Braintree, Southport and Altrincham. 😢 Mind you won’t be many more in 5he crowd at Fleetwood than those 3! 😀 UTG! It was only during the 04/05 season when they were playing in the North West Counties League. They've certainly come a long way since then.

Yes of course you are right they have done really well to climb from where they were. And all clubs should be applauded for doing so. AFC Wimbledon, Burton Albion are great stories but I feel that Fleetwood despite everything are so reliant on Andy Piley’s money that it has distorted their position in the league. I’m sure it’s a great story whenever BBC come to call but the stories of AFC W and Burton are far better and are more genuine in building on solid foundations. The only thing I’m unsure about is how long it will last. Pileys million’s might run out, will he do a Max Griggs (Rushden and Diamonds) and decide that the club needs to be self sufficient and move on or has the business model been so carefully made as to be sustainable on very very low crowds even when Piley isn’t around. I’m sure others will disagree but the way it’s happened just leaves me a bit meh!! Or perhaps I’m just jealous!🤬 UTG!

Fair comments wareham, can't really argue with any of that.

I bet Hasselbaink is haunted by that decision to leave Burton for QPR, when Burton were top of league 1. In hindsight it may have ruined his managerial career. Had he stayed at Burton he would very likely have achieved back to back promotions at a well run club that would have likely stuck by him even if they had gone down from the Championship again the following season. Or had he waited until the summer he may well have got a better job offer than QPR off the back of a double promotion and being a big name. Now he’s probably going to be looking at league 2 jobs again having been sacked twice since.

Owners getting cold feet and withdrawing leaving the club with current ex-Oxford owner who wants out. Since we hammered them at the Mem last January they have sacked 3 managers. They certainly haven’t built on the promotion they got being likely to go back to where they were. UTG!

Agree, Alexander is a good appointment and will raise their professionalism a few steps. With the backing from their owners I bet Tranmere are even more pleased to have escaped. UTG!

Yeah they do, as well as the class of 92 they also have Peter Lim financing them. He was reportedly approached about taking over Man Utd before the glazers and made an offer for Liverpool too. They will have tempted Alexander with a decent budget and a good wage, I don't think he is dropping a couple of leagues just for the sentiment.

It really will be a little embarrassing for clubs like us if Salford can climb up and go ahead of us in the football ladder

I'd love to know what Salford are paying Alexander considering that the reason they supposedly sacked the previous managers was that they wanted a pay rise after successive promotions.

It really will be a little embarrassing for clubs like us if Salford can climb up and go ahead of us in the football ladder Not at all, Salford City have got vast financial backing and access to the contacts list of some of the biggest names to play in the premier league, Dwane sports can't hold a candle to that sort of clout and influence. For me, it is a case of when, not if, Bristol Rovers play Salford in a league game. Sadly I would wager they will get to the Championship before we do and all...

Salford were worthy winners of the National League North and already have players capable of performing at a higher level like Jack Redshaw, Tom Walker and Liam Hogan etc. They will be there or thereabouts next season.

Gotta be worth sticking a few quid on them for promotion.
