Was Robert Harris with The Gas on a short term contract last season? Nah, you're thinking of 'Whispering' Bob Harris from the Old Grey Whistle Test. Showing your age there !

Was Robert Harris with The Gas on a short term contract last season? I thought he presented the county music show at 7pm on Friday nights on radio 2, whispering Bob Harris (closely related to whispering Ted Lowe).

I hate to interrupt you, but 'great minds' do not listen to C&W. I feel tainted just by typing C&W!

I'm pretty sure that if I were to say, "Alexa, play some C&W music", she'd respond with, "you can feck off, and when you get there feck from there too. Then feck off some more, and keep fecking off until you get back here, then feck off again!"........or something like that.

Do you read Robert Harris? Really enjoyed Fatherland but not so keen on his Roman based novels. Used to read Bernard Cornwell when Sharpe was big in the 90s. I did read some Robert Harris many years ago. I shall have to dig around my antique book collection.............which is another subject. I didn't ever think I'd go down this route, but now I buy all my books to read on a Kindle Fire. I've currently got about ninety books on there. The space saved is incredible! It's not perfect, but it is really useful. I still prefer books. A Kindle`s better for porn though.

No matter where I am, if I finish a book I just have to download another. It is not easy to buy books in English over here.

I get more fun from shouting at the Ducks in the local park.

Nope, this is the first book I've read since school. I'm 41, I have trouble with concentration, usually after a few pages the words start getting blurred and I give up. But the girlfriend got me a kindle for Christmas, thought I'd give it a try, touch wood I'm not having any problems.

Stick with it fella, I'm not a great reader either but there's some great stuff out there and once you get into it, it's a fantastic way to forget things and go off to wherever the book takes you.

A friend had a similar problem ,he'd decided that he couldn't read as a result and gave up ,when he approached 40 he mentioned it to his doctor , the upshot was after several tests etc ,he was told to get some glasses with a yellow tint ,so he got hold of some yellow safety glasses ,and hasnt had an issue since ,it may be worth talking to a doctor to see if theres an easy fix

Thanks for the encouragement, I'll make an appointment.

Currently reading The Hanged Man by Simon Kernick
Mainly read crime fiction/thrillers, with the odd sports bio for a bit of variety. Not sure that I'd get on with a Kindle, as I love the smell of new books, and that moment when you crack the spine and immerse yourself in another world.
