Inspired by inee's reading suggestions, what are you reading or recommend?
I read Tim Marshall's Prisoners of Geography recently. Very good and thought provoking, gives a good explanation of how things are geopolitical. I couldn't get into his follow up though, will have to go back another time.
At the moment I'm reading Iain Ballantyne's Hunter Killers about British post war submarine development. Currently up to the 1960s and the early chapters gives a grim taste of life in the early diesel boats.

The Doomsday Machine ( confessions of a nuclear war planner ) by Daniel Ellsberg. Gives you a worrying idea of how close to nuclear obliteration, we`ve come. Am off to Cuba at the end of October, and intend to visit the San Cristobal fields and bunkers, where the Russians sited their missiles.

I've read pretty much everything Karin Slaughter, easily my favourite, read nearly all the Tess Gerritsen series of Rizzoli & Isles, and I'm just about to start the Lee Child Jack Reacher series. Love a good book series of crime and investigation.

I'm a big fan of historical fiction, especially during the Roman times, so anything by Ben Kane, Simon Scarrow, Conn Iggulden and people of that ilk. I normally get through a book every two weeks.

Striker in The Sun. Warbury under the ownership of Nick Jarvis and his Chinese billionaire wife are in their first season of the inaugural World League. The recently retired Kurt Panzer is now Manager with Scrapper Griswell and Fabian DeGuisson on the coaching staff 😀

Groucho Mendoza the hard nut centre half was an even better name!

Do you read Robert Harris? Really enjoyed Fatherland but not so keen on his Roman based novels. Used to read Bernard Cornwell when Sharpe was big in the 90s.

Also, if you like historical fiction, try the "Shardlake" books by C J Sansom. Murder mysteries set during the reign of Henry V111. Brilliant.

I did read some Robert Harris many years ago. I shall have to dig around my antique book collection.............which is another subject. I didn't ever think I'd go down this route, but now I buy all my books to read on a Kindle Fire. I've currently got about ninety books on there. The space saved is incredible! It's not perfect, but it is really useful.
