Having a beer with some Shrewsbury fans tonight and they have only sold 12000 tickets with Lincoln about 18000 how can the shrews compete in the championship if they get there next season with poor support like this
i believe their average home gate is less than 5000 for the position they are in that is very poor

Lincoln have sold 26k apparently so with Shrewsbury taking 12-13k it should mean a 38-39k total attendance. Enough to convince the EFL bosses to keep this much maligned tournament going for a few more years I should think.
Maybe a Stoke U21's Vs Morecambe final with a sub 10k crowd in a attendance could of convinced them otherwise. Next year?

Same applies to rovers. Assuming burton get relegated our attendances would be the lowest in the championship and if we struggle attendances will be no higher than they are now. Not much to do with attendances anyway most championship clubs are propped up by wealthy owners including millwall, preston and brentford 3 clubs often cited of great examples of progressing with modest finaces etc. Surely 4,000 at shrewsbury with a modern all seater ground = 9,000 at rovers

Face it. Rovers are going nowhere without a new stadium. As things stand, Div One is our Premier League.

If DC ever left then he would be one of the top candidates imo. Hurst has the ability to make them compete in the championship.

Am I labouring under a misapprehension? I thought we were gert massive and could harness crowds of 50k if we want. 😉

Thing is tho mate, no one is interested in the early rounds, they whinge about the prem teams (and rightly so) but if you get to Wembley then most fans wouldn’t turn down that day out. I know I wouldn’t.

Sorry I thought it would be obvious that it was a tongue in cheek response to a poster who thinks DC is useless. Hurst is clearly is a terrific manager.

The Shrews were promoted to the old Division 2 ( now the championship ) in 1979 and spent 10 years there. One notable player who left Rovers to play for them was winger Paul Petts who played there for 5 years in that period. Paul's father was John Petts also a Rovers player. 18000 fans crammed into Gay Meadows at times. So never have nor never will get the support?

Petts Jnr fitness coach at Bris Rugby or at least was when they were at the Mem. Apologies I can’t remember his name.
