Slocombe 8 top saves and good throw outs J. Clarke 7 defended well until he ran out of steam Lockyer 7 did quite well in the middle Craig 8 thought he was very good, not much got past him Brown 7 good game still our best all round full back Moore 7 played well and much more involved O. Clarke 6 worked hard but still not at his best Sercombe 7 started well shame he had to go off Mensah 5 some nice touches, one for the future Bennett 8.5 again our best player in the final third Harrison 5 not his day today Subs: Broadbent 7.5 formed a good partnership with Craig Gaffney 6 put himself about but some poor decision making Kelly 6 didn't look out of place and did impress me. Crowd 8 Ref 5 Charlton 7

Slocombe 7.5 - all his saves were comfortable as opposed to exceptional but did everything that was asked
Brown 7 - steady as ever, some good deliveries but more often that not only one man to aim at. Lockyer 7 - looked athletic in midfield, got about, did what we would expect Craig 7.5 - pretty faultless to be honest. Reads the game well. JC 6.5 - difficult to say much new about him. Will never let us down although is limited on the ball and did get beat a few times quite easily.
OC 7 - thought he bossed the game early doors, won his battles, occasional sloppy in possession. Sercs - NOLE - such a shame to go off, always wants the ball. Bennett 8 - little magician. Yes he occasionally tries too much but I can live with that. Really like him in a central role where he can drift anywhere. Wide in a 4 he's a bit too restricted. Mensah 6 - work in progress. Has raw ability. One for next year maybe. Moore 7 - lively. He has got it. Just needs to add consistency. I'd offer him a year. Harrison 6 - so frustrating. He's had a lot of plaudits this year, and rightly so. Definitely worthy of his place. Tin hat on time. I wish he had a footballing brain. Some of his runs are non existant, he reacts as opposed to anticipates and doesn't win enough headers in an attacking area. But. He's had a great year, he still wins a lot for us defensively and I think he has improved from last year.
TB 7 - some crucial blocks and looked very comfortable Gaff 6 - ineffective Kelly 7 - pleased to see him come on. Always available and did well.

Crowd 6 - so quiet but very much end of season stuff Ref 8 - decent to be fair. One ball to hand in the box but would have been very harsh. Kept cards in pocket, even when sercs went a little bit over the top! Charlton 5 - edged the game but we were there for the taking. Ben Reeves was our Bennett.

Slocombe 8 saved us.
J. Clarke 7.5 needed. Lockyer 7 kneaded. Craig 8.5 m o m neediest. Brown 7.5 legend.
Moore 7.5 more. O. Clarke 7 or less. Sercombe 6.5 injured. Mensah 6.5 more or less injured?
Bennett 8.5 unplayable. Harrison 7.5 undeniable.
Subs: Broadbent 8 uncompromising. Gaffney 6 unfortunate. Kelly 7 unknown soldier debut.
Crowd 8 great turnout. Ref 5 some of his decisions were like a great turnout. Charlton 7.5 stick your mull of kintyre...

Slocombe 8 - Two top saves, very competent J Clarke 7 - Solid game Brown 7 - Steady better option than Bola Lockyer 7 - Not so effective in midfield Craig 8 - Played very well against a strong forward line Bennett 8.5 MOM - Trickery all over the park, fantastic signing O Clarke 6.5 - Bit off the pace Sercombe 7 - Good whilst on Moore 7 - Bright especially in the first half Mensah 6.5 - Looked brighter Harrison 7 - Battling performance
Broadbent 7.5 - Very strong should be starting Gaffney 6 - Lacking confidence, a goal would put it right Kelly 7 - Bright little cameo
Charlton 8 - Very good strong footballing side Crowd 7 -Bit quiet D.C. 8 Ref 5 - Baffling at times but kept his cards in his pocket
Battling performance against a strong side. Onto the next project, Blackburn hmmmm. UTG

Slocombe - 9 - 2 top class saves, kept us in the game against the few opportunities Charlton created, was outstanding today, commanded the box well, strong, decisive, only beaten by a deflection.
J. Clarke - 7 - didn't do much, but didn't do much wrong, solid performance Lockyer - 6.5 - played well but wasn't helped by being dumped in CM Craig - 7 - again, solid performance, didn't see the goalmouth scramble clearly, but I'm sure he was in there Brown - 8 - much more like the browner we know, good performance, only thing he did wrong was the goal deflected off him, could have closed him down sooner perhaps?
Moore - 7.5 - all over them first half, quieter second half O. Clarke - 7 - decent performance, wasn't helped by lockyer next to him, too similar, not enough forward play from the pair Sercombe - ? - was his usual attacking self, such a commanding player on the ball, picks out the right passes, would have been a different game if he didn't get injured. Mensah - 7 - disappointed to see him taken off, much better than usual, stronger on the ball than usual, few wayward passes, few good passes, and he showed his pace a bit today, would like to see him given a run out for the remainder of the season to give him a chance.
Bennett - 9 - at the heart of every attack, for someone that's 2ft 6 he is incredibly strong, driving runs forward, great vision, opens defences up, and is not afraid to shoot, but also will play the pass if it's a better option, don't know how many times you can say 'what a signing' but he seems to get better every game. Harrison - 6.5 - quiet. But put in some good defensive play at corners.
Subs: Broadbent - 8 - hard to come into a game quite early as a sub, but he did exceptionally. Strong in the air, and his runs from defence help set up counters, the thing I like about Broadbent is he is a classic CB - no dramas, no messing about on the ball - he gets the ball and clears it out of danger. Gaffney - 6 - took a lot of stick off the fans, made 2 clear errors, both by being too slow on the ball, and then played a 50 yard cross from the family terrace to the blue stand. However, he did what he does and holds the ball up, some fancy flicks and good passes, and a horrendous shot. That pretty much summed up his game. Kelly - 8 - really impressed with him for the short time he was on - to come on on your debut against a huge team like Charlton and run their experienced players up and down the pitch with that amount of confidence is what we like to see. Some great link up play, dangerous balls into the box, definitely one to keep an eye on.
Crowd - 7 - decent enough noise and decent enough turnout considering our season is all but over Ref - 5.5 - crap, but consistently crap for both teams. Charlton - 5 - created next to nothing, nothing like the team that put 10 past us last year, few goal bound efforts that slocombe saved in spectacular fashion, and a lucky deflected goal - can't work out if they were quiet or we kept them quiet.

Slocombe 8.5 Two, possibly three, outstanding saves
J. Clarke 7 Steady and efficient Lockyer 7 A strange afternoon for him. Craig 7.5 Calm and organised Brown 7.5 Near his best
Moore 8 OK,I'm in a minority, but I like Moore. Unpredictable? Yes; but contributed a lot today O. Clarke 7 Efficient. Sercombe 6.5 Sods law...Lines out then we lose our only other creative CM Mensah 6.5 Must build up stamina.
Bennett 7.5 Bag of tricks. Makes room and has so much time Harrison 6.5 Tired legs today
Subs: Broadbent 7 Strong, but still a little inconsistent Gaffney 6 His limitations on show today Kelly 7 Did what he had to do well
Crowd 7.5 ......and still they keep on coming Ref 6 Started well then went downhill Charlton 7 solid team

Slocombe 8.5 Two great saves
J. Clarke 6 Steady enough Lockyer 6 Looked awkward in midfield Craig 7.5 A real leader Brown 7 Got forward well
Moore 6 Decent first half, faded to normal second. O. Clarke 6 Combatative enough but lucky not to get punished for some poor passes Sercombe 7 Would probably have won if he stayed on. Mensah 6 I like Mensah, plenty of ball skill, needs to be aware more.
Bennett 9 The reason our makeshift midfield got away with it today. Put so much pressure on Charlton they had to strip out their midfield to cope with him Harrison 6.5 You can't give Ellis a low mark these days, but not much went his way.
Subs: Broadbent 7 Fitted in with Craig great Gaffney 6 Up against a decent defence but did OK Kelly 7 Looked composed and confident
Crowd 6 End of season noise Ref 4.5 OK, But how did he award twice as many freekicks to Charlton? Charlton 6 Pretty side, Won't make the playoffs

Slocombe 8 very good game, several good saves, distribution good. J. Clarke 6.5 understandably ring rusty but didnt let the side down. Lockyer 7 adapted well to central midfield. Craig 8 marshalled the defence well and some timely tackles. Brown 7 reliable as ever Moore 7.5 its taken nearly two seasons but he looks a much better player recently. O. Clarke 7 a much improved display. Sercombe 7 was looking good before his early withdrawal Mensah 6 showed glimpses of whats to come. Bennett 8.5 m.o.m. popped up all over the place, a constant thorn in Charltons side. Harrison 7 worked hard, some very important defensive headers. Subs: Broadbent 8 solid, strong, uncompromising , should always start. Gaffney 5 looked badly out of sorts. Kelly 7 a polished cameo by the young man, could be our next left back. Crowd 6 had the feel of end of season. Ref 6.5 sensible Charlton 7 one of the better teams that i 've seen this season

Slocombe - 8.5: Two quality saves and really nailing down the no1 spot.
J Clarke - 7: Stuck to his task against a good player. Very impressed how he has come back from a long lay off and looked the part. Brown - 7.5: You know exactly what you'll get from Lee. Consistent and always an option when attacking. Lockyer - 7: Hard to mark as in a relatively unfamiliar position. Limited in midfield but battled hard throughout. Craig - 8.5: Polarises opinion on this forum but for me he is the Mansell/McCrystal leader we've missed since, well, Mansell or McChrystal. Reads game so well and looks composed.
Moore - 7: Decent battling effort from Byron today and did really well for the goal. Definitely something there. O Clarke - 7: Good first half but does have the annoying habit of giving away unnecessary free kicks. Never stopped battling though. Sercombe - 7: Looked lively and worked well with Ollie while they were together. Mensah - 7: Better than last week. Still raw but some nice touches. One for the future. Bennett - 8.5: Just what we needed when Billy left. Cracking player who was a threat throughout again today.
Harrison - 7. Battled hard, but is starting to look a little leggy. Hardly surprising given the amount of games he has played this year. Centre half was good mind.
Broadbent - 8.5. How good is this guy? Composure beyond his experience, strolls through games at times. Powerful and great to see a centre half confident enough to bring the ball out of defence like he does. Gaffney - 7.5. Has come in for some stick tonight, but personally I felt he really gave their defence something to think about. Held the ball up well and brought Bennett into the game well. Sublime back heel to put Brown in. Kelly - 7. Not on long, but a very encouraging debut.
Ref - 8. Actually thought he was pretty good. Crowd - 5. We are so quiet. What happened to the songs we sang at Twerton? Perhaps we should have a separate thread on that...?!
Feel so proud of the gas tonight. Really up against it with a threadbare squad and patched up team against a very good side who are full of confidence. Rovers did what they always do...battled hard and never gave up. Really enjoyable game and a fair result imo.

Slocombe 8 - Good vital saves and good distribution
J. Clarke 5.5 - - Not a bad performance but lacks the attacking instincts which are needed at home Lockyer 6.5 Did ok as a makeshift midfielder Craig 7 - Calm and organised performance Brown 6.5 - Did ok especially in the unfamiliar right back role
Moore 6.5 - good first half, battled hard. Should have the confidence to be more direct at times O. Clarke 6 - battled but at times sloppy Sercombe 7 - looked good before the injury and think that we would have won if he had stayed fit Mensah 6 - positional play poor but did ok on the ball. Could be good once he gets used to League One football and has more experience
Bennett 8.5 - like Billy before him, he is clearly a class above everyone else in the team in terms of natural ability. Needs to perform away from home as well where he tends to be bullied a bit more. Harrison 6 - good defensively and worked hard. Not so good today in the air offensively and still needs to add a few more goals to his game to fully fulfil his potential
Subs: Broadbent 6.5 Clearly still finding his feet but did well. Needs to play regularly with Craig now so that we reap the benefits next season. Gaffney 5 - a few good moments but looks out of this depth. When his confidence is up he can just about hack it in League One but think that we need to replace him with a big more prolific goal scorer Kelly 6.5 - looked very promising especially going forward. Based on this cameo I would prefer him to Bola (and would be a cheaper option)

Slocombe - 8 made two great saves and good distribution
J. Clarke - 6 got turned inside out almost every time Lockyer - 6.5 battled but looked a little lost in an unfamiliar position Craig - 8 didn’t put a foot wrong Brown - 7 standard Browner performance
Moore - 7.5 looked a threat, had a really good first half O. Clarke - 7 got stuck in and showed us a few party piece skills Sercombe - 7 game would have been different had he stayed on the pitch longer Mensah - 7 raw but has pace and power and always plays positively and forwards
Bennett - 8.5 MOTM always a danger when he finds those pockets of space Harrison - 6 can’t remember him winning any headers, or testing what was a really good CB
Subs: Broadbent - 8 should be a starter for me Gaffney - 5 slows everything down, but credit to him he did create a half chance or two Kelly - 7 didn’t look out of place at all
Crowd - 6 end of season Ref - 7 kept his cards in his pocket Charlton - 7 attractive footballing side that i think will fall short of playoffs

Think both sets of fans will be satisfied that their teams did their best on a less than ideal pitch and combatting their own circumstances (us - threadbare squad, them - fringe of play off nerves)
