Assuming most of us watched CL post match interview did anyone have any thoughts about his comments viz a viz the abuse his family has taken on SM post Fleetwood. Personally I was pretty appalled I cannot understand why some of our so called fans feel they have the right to abuse OUR players and family.

Not good.
On another note, Linesy would make a marvellous ventriloquist

Brain dead idiots. Yes, he made a mistake at Fleetwood. I suspect he realised that himself by the time he reached the dressing room. Get over it. Move on.
Linesy has been the one of our best servants of recent years and deserves better. In fact, even if he had been rubbish, no-one should be subjected to abuse in this manner.
Sad reflection of some of the idiots in this society. Unfortunately, some of them follow Rovers.

Yes he got sent off, no big deal really, how many times have I seen our players clapped off as they leave the pitch. I’m sure these people that have said/sent things on line have never made an error in their own jobs where they have needed to be pulled up. Bloody idiots!

I thought he was a bit of a numpty at the time for getting sent off, but for his family to get abused is absolutely disgraceful. Those people should be ashamed of themselves.

I don't think this forum was too bad in its criticism and a lot of posters supported him but perhaps a few got a bit too vindictive with comments when they said things like -
Cheers Linesy, you certainly aren't one of mine
Hope he gets fined the maximum and banished for keeps.
Thoroughly disappointed with Chris Lines. Will DC ditch him?
Thankyou Chris Knobhead Lines
I hope you realise that you have effectively ended the season for us.

I’m not sure he said his family has been abused but that his partner was upset about the criticism levelled at Chris after the sending off.
Sadly he said some supporters will never like him, which is a shame to hear the player who has delivered is the most promotions come out with.
I hope he realises that level headed supporters see how much we owe him.
The clip is available on the official YouTube channel.

Also watched that and found it very sad. Hopefully it's balanced by some positive comments.

There where some on here saying that they’d pretty much wiped their hands of him after that game and he shouldn’t play for us again and was now no more one of our own. Pathetic. Silly behaviour by an experienced player also out of character and he probably cost us a point maybe three that day but nothing more nothing less and Chris Lines is a club legend and still one of the best midfielders in league 1. Thing is you’ll always get cretins sending nasty sh** online it’s the way of the world today undoubtedly. Lines is an experienced professional he took it in the chin came back and scored a last minute equaliser.. Fair play.

The social media abuse thing is pretty disgusting whether its chris lines, michael oliver or matty taylor. Chris lines is a bit of a "marmite" player but hes been one of darrell clarkes main players along with a few others these last 4 seasons without a doubt. DC handled the silly sending off in the correct manner so that should have been the end of it.

Sad to read about that - bet the hypocrites were joining in with "one of our own" when the goal flew in.
Gaffney has been getting some abuse on Twitter, so called fans telling him to get out of the club, as he's useless. Hopefully he's got more sense than to read it.

I thought he was a bit of a plonker for getting sent off but that is a bit different to screaming abuse at him from the Blackthorn End or abusing him anonymously on Facebook and Twitter. BRFC have instructed all players to turn their social media to "private" and they have all the players social media "handles" and monitor their social media messages - as confirmed by Chris Hargreaves at the forum in WSM recently.

Social media is here to stay and there are far more positives than negatives. Fans have always mouthed off about players, the only difference these days is they have a far bigger audience than a few mates down the pub. Players have to learn to deal with it in the right way, i.e. by being one step ahead and issuing a quick apology for being human and seeing red for a few moments. That bit of petulance was sandwiched between two exquisite goals, and there's plenty of superlatives out there about them too. Let's milk that instead.
