Slocombe: 6. Had a reasonably quiet but solid night apart from when it mattered.
J Clarke: 7.5. Good solid defensive performance throughout. Lockyer: 8. Strong and composed on a difficult night for defenders. Craig: 8. Dependable throughout again. Great ability to defend without touching the ball. Brown: 7.5. Mr Consistent. Would have been a great ending had he scored the winner. We will struggle to find a full back as consistent.
Moore: 7. Did ok. Lively but should have scoree when hit the side netting in 2nd half. O Clarke: 7. Not been at his best this season. Tonight he was unspectacular but efficient. Sercombe: 8. We are a threat with him in the side. Took his goal well (although should have another) and did well to get through the game. Lines: 9.5. MoM. One of his best performances in a Rovers shirt. Everything went through him and the quality of his passing seemed to inspire the performance. How anyone can suggest that he is anywhere near the end of his career is beyond me. Class. Bennett: 7. Good 1st half and unlucky not to score. Faded 2nd half.
Harrison: 7.5. Worked his socks off although should have done better when clear in 1st half. Great season but (understandably) looks tired now.
Wigan: 7. Attractive side to watch and deservedly promoted, but were played off the park by a superb Rovers performance.
Ref: 8.5. Very good throughout. Let the game flow in difficult conditions.
Crowd: 8. Good vocal support on a horrible night.
Overall, one of the best Rovers performances under our genius manager, and there have been a few. Had we been more clinical we could and should have won by 2 or 3 clear goals. No mean feat against the best team in the league.

Oh, and Tom Nichols: 7.5. Did really well and looked more at home operating just behind Ellis where he found space and prompted well. Much more like it.

Slocombe 6 punished for his mistake
J. Clarke 7.5 solid defensively, poor in the other direction Lockyer 8 coped well Craig 8 coped well Brown 8 best game for a long time
Lines 8.5 bossed the middle O. Clarke 7.5 put himself about Sercombe 7.5 always a danger but lost the ball too often tonight
Moore 7.5 good effort as he has shown recently Harrison 7.5 battled hard and won some, had to score early doors Bennett 6 quiet
Sub: Nichols 6.5 tried and got himself involved in a positive way
Crowd 8 Ref 8 Wigan 6 on the beach already

Can't comment on much of the first half as was blinded by the rain in the corner of the blue stand.
After it stopped and I could dry my face I'd say we were brilliant tonight. Everyone. Great passing on a slippery surface, and Wigan struggled to deal with us.
Special mention to Tom Nichols tonight who I thought was brilliant, only criticism is he didn't shoot, at all. However, instead of shooting he was supplying good balls to brown and moore.

If it wasn't for slocombes error I'd just give the whole squad a 8 all round. Think the players were on a bonus for every time they touched the ball. First time in a while I've seen the whole squad wanting the ball. Every time anyone looked up there were options. If we go forward with the mind set of making rather than waiting for things to happen then we'll do alright

Slocombe 6.5 would have been 7.5 but for his error, he's still the better keeper though . J. Clarke 7 a very decent game and is looking much fitter. Lockyer 8 good controlled display Craig 8.5 organises the defence well and is a big reason why Lockyer has improved. Brown 8 a strong game and unlucky the post denied him a winning goal,. We will miss him. Lines 9 Linsey at his best, on his day he is still one of the best midfielders in league One. O. Clarke 7.5 played well in the 45 minutes he was on. Sercombe 7.5 another typical display by Sercs, its a shame our forwards cant shoot like him! Moore 7 a busy performance but still not enough end product. Harrison 7 the usual hard working display from Ellis, he really should have scored early on. Bennett 7 always a threat in conditions that hardly suited him. Sub: Nichols 7 still didnt look like scoring but, in a slightly deeper role looked quite impressive and got excellent vocal support from the Thatchers end which was nice to hear. Crowd 8 everyone deserve a medal for turning out on an awful night in a clapped-out stadium. Ref 8 good, made allowance for the conditions and excercised common sense ( a rarity this season!) Wigan 8 the quality is obvious and a mention for Paul Cook who gave Rovers the praise they deserved!

Slocombe 5.5 Not a lot to do but an ultimately costly mistake for the goal J. Clarke 7 Does the simple things well - solid Lockyer 8.5 Always in control of dangerous Wigan team Craig 8.5 Ditto Brown 8 Usual Lee Brown - will be sorely missed
Lines 9 Dictated the game O. Clarke 8 played well while on the pitch - seemed to have more freedom to press Sercombe 8.5 always a threat and looking for the ball. Good finish too
Moore 8 - Always showing for the ball and looked dangerous. Final product frustrating at times Harrison 8.5 - The complete CF performance. Only thing missing was the goal to top it off Bennett 8 - Always a danger and unlucky with the strike towards the end of the first half
Sub: Nichols 8 - Linked play nicely and found some good passes. Got the ball down and found space, would like to see more of him in the hole in the future. A couple of occasions would have liked him to pulled the trigger, but understandably didn't take it on with recent form
Crowd 7 - Love a night game me Ref 6.5 - Let the game flow which was good, but sometimes let things go that were blatant fouls Wigan 5.5 - Imagine this was an off day as were outplayed
Brilliant all round performance, just lacking the clinical nature that gets you to the higher reaches of the division. With a couple of tweaks over the summer, retaining key players & DC and getting the pitch in good shape, think there is a lot of promise going into next year

Slocombe 6
J. Clarke 6 Lockyer 8 Craig 8 Brown 7
Lines 8 (Would've been a 10 at half time.) O. Clarke 7 Sercombe 8 (Amazing how much better we look when he's in the middle)
Moore 8 Harrison 7 Bennett 6
Sub: Nichols 8 (That's the Nichols I want. Worked hard, creative output that lets our midfield runners kick on. Obviously afraid to take a shot but when you haven't scored in as long as he has then that's not a shock)
Crowd 8 Ref 8 (One of the best ref performances I've seen a while. Let a lot go but did so for both teams and took the conditions into consideration.) Wigan 7 (A rotated Wigan team that still looked dangerous going forward.)
