I'm thinking of trying to raise some much needed funds for new patrol tents for my Cub scout pack.
A new patrol tent is around £500.
Any ideas?
How about wearing C*** shirts for a week or something like that?
Any ideas?

I've found that lately the done thing seems to be just to create one of those begging Just Giving pages and do bugger all.
A teacher from my lad's school decided he wanted £30 grand to move to New York to go back to uni and set one up. He was getting donations!
So I think just saying "I want to do X please just give me the money for it" is ok now.

My lad's group used to do sponsored all night game-a-thons. Turns the kids into little rotters for a couple of days after though.

Good fun but not if you are stuck in an old leaky tent.

Yeah, those 2 in the link should probably last a good 20 years!! Many moons ago, I used to help out with the Little Stoke Cub's. My role was teaching them fieldcraft I used to show them how to make emergency shelters, build a proper fire etc, and also gave tips and advice on how to pack their bergans and what equipment they should carry that would help them etc.

Would something like that be practical where you are?

Yeah, may be a good idea. I will contact our local Tesco and see what's possible.

We used to get permission to spend the night on the disused areas on Salisbury plain. Build bivouacs and we were allowed 1 match for the fire.
