£400K to billionaires is really chicken feed, particulary when it's offset against the Mem value, committing to spend £3/4m+ of their own money on the training ground, with probably little prospect of recovering that expenditure unless we reach the Championship, is an entirely different matter. At the end of the day if it's not a cost issue what is holding them back from submitting the plans/getting on with the work what else can it be? Plus DC claims we need a better training ground to progress. Although I've no idea why the word "obsession" keeps getting raised as the training ground is far from that, rather it's just another point of interest. Billionaires? As in I've told you billlions of times not to exaggerate? Can't recall you telling me once TBH but here's what the B Post had to say about the family's wealth: "I think any rich Arab can often get described as a billionaire. If you were to take all of the interests of the extended family you may be able to get over the £1bn mark, but by "and family" we're really talking about Wael, his father and his brothers."

It was tongue and cheek Topper although I wouldn't rely on the BP as an accurate measure of the Al Qadis wealth if I were you as its just a click bait ploy they roll out every now and then to meet targets.... 82ers love pulling themselves to pieces every time the 'b' word is repeated and the myth perpetuated.

With regards to the Colony my understanding is that preparation work for the pitches there begins in 5/6 weeks Interestimg if that is the case. I thought it was stated we wouldn't start until planning was agreed as a mark of respect and goodwill to the locals. Presumably they are confident of a positive outcome soonish.

REF telford. The best way to become popular as a player on this forum is to be left out of the team. Telford became a top player simply by not being picked for many. Bola was a great left-back until he actually played for the team. Nobody said too much about broadbent until craig took his place but since then he has become a world class defender who also uses the ball like beckenbauer. Last season it was colkett and clarke-salter lauded as future england players but it all went quiet when they had a run of games.

It's all a matter of opinions. IMO this forum has become , especially when people are bored out of season, a lot antagonistic, rude, sexist and insensitive. try reading the thread The pitch is wrong. to see what I mean. I take it it was a tongue in cheek windup that has resulted into some vile exchanges. How many threads can anyone recall that were genuine serious comments that didn't end up becoming a farce (IMO). Regarding the Training ground. I have seen rovers train on Eastville Park, Weston Sands, Brislington, Hambrook and latterly at Cribbs. I don't recall ever seeing more than perhaps 30 people watching. IMO why are so many people expressing such strong opinions on the matter when IMO it has little direct impact on them. Regarding Telford. There have been comments about how good he is especially compared to another certain player. (No comment) but out of those who has actually seen him play. He played at Wycombe but not many saw that game because of the boycott. He's played quite a few games for the development squad but I have never seen more than 30 people watching him there. Why do some people who I suspect have never seen him play express strong views on whether he is better than another player? IMO DC has seen him and elected not to pick him over another player. IS DC WRONG? Does DC not know what he is doing? Regarding the Bars. I wonder how many people expressing strong comments actually use the bars? I never did but do now. If any of you have stood in wind blown concrete concourses at other grounds I'd take the Mem any time. Glass and not plastic to drink from as well. One little grip, Tom's comment regarding pulling pints before opening to quell the opening rush never happened. IMO I wonder how long this thread will take to get someone to start taking the shhhh you know what. Yrs, there are some right loons on here but sexist ? stop moaning like a bitch

This is a bit of turn around for gaschat.... A thread that starts off about the forum and suddenly people start talking about the football club.... I think I need to lie down Reverse psychology.

Nope, Telford actually looked a threat to the opposition defence in the few appearances he was given by DC, certainly more so than Nicholls who looks like a mascot that has forgotten to leave the pitch.

Your preaching to the converted,i like telford and believe he can have a good career,im just making the point players reputations improve when they dont play on this forum. In fairness to the manager the way the team was set up later in the season didnt really suit telford,by that i mean one striker and 2 attacking midfield players.

In fairness to the manager the way the team was set up later in the season didnt really suit telford,by that i mean one striker and 2 attacking midfield players. Well DC has a habit of not playing loaned players who go on to play at a higher level, as seen with Mcbernie and Roberts.
I don't really agree that a players reputation escalates by not playing; some younger players start off well (like Sweeney, Colkett and Clarke-Salter) so get called to play more, but then go downhill. Telford just wasn't given any sort of run of games when he clearly showed that he deserved to ahead of certain players and I think that was picked up by a lot of fans.
An argument could also be made for Russe as OC's form clearly dipped this season but Russe came in at MK Dons, played well, then we didn't see him again for a month?
DC's record speaks for itself but it doesn't mean some of his decisions aren't questionable..

Agree mostly but mcburnie and roberts are 2 years older now which is a long time for a young player, also mcburnie was at the club when the gaffney/taylor strike force could do no wrong during the promotion run in so i would argue dc got that dead right. I didnt understand why russe and michael kelly didnt get more game time at the end of the season though.
