Now you’ve gone and blown his cover. He’s actually a sleeper planted by the English FA and was just about to be deployed as part of the England to win the World Cup initiative, doh.

The OP needs to change the thread title to "Former players..."
"Despite being semi-finalists at Euro 2016, Wales failed to qualify for the World Cup, making Evans one of only two Welsh people involved in coaching or preparing squads at the tournament - with the other being England goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson, a former Bristol Rovers team-mate of Evans."
Although I can't recall either of them making many 1st team appearances?

Although I can't recall either of them making many 1st team appearances? Ex Gas player Adi Boothroyd was interviewed on the TV prior to an England game. He is involved with the England set up (U21) and was in Russia spying on Southgate's methods so that when he became the next England manager whilst having full inside knowledge of all the next generation of English players he would be nicely set up to WIN the World Cup in 2026. Also heard Sir Ricky Lambert has a small role for England. Sat in the armchair at home cheering them on wishing he was still playing. UTG

I seem to remember Richard Evans playing at left back when we played Southend in the Twerton days. Stan Collymore had him on toast and we lost 0-3? I might be wrong but I don't think he ever played another game for us.

I recall Margetson being a decent keeper, Richard Evans being one of Martin Dobson's first and less successful signings. £30k right winger.
