Hi I’m a gas wife I have been wondering recently if rovers have ever had a pre-season friendly against s.... and if rovers could should we? We played them in the 11/12 pre-season (I think) under McGhee. I can't remember the exact score (3 or 4 nil possibly), but we got played off the park with the overweight Garry Kenneth making one of his first appearances.

I also recall a pre-season friendly against City at home around 2005, I believe we lost 1-0 and it sticks out in my mind because Phillips wound the living daylights out of me with his antics when he was in the goal in front of the Blackthorn terrace, shortly afterwards he signed for us and I had to learn to like him!

We also used to have the annual Gloucestershire Cup final. Remember some good games. Two that stand out in my memory was a ridiculous 13-12 penalty win at Twerton (or something like that), where I’m sure both goalkeepers had to take one (think Brian Parkin scored and was it Phillips playing for them?). The other was seeing big jockey Alexander stamping on Dave Smith’s head at Ashton and getting a straight red (pretty sure we lost that one).

I remember now, it was Louis Carey's testimonial. Also the game where our Faroe Island international played his one and only game. We were terrible that day.

As the report posted above stated: "The home side dominated the opening exchanges and although the early tempo of the match wasn’t maintained, Rovers didn’t force goalkeeper Tom Heaton to make a save all afternoon."

Can the mods edit the op's post to avoid confusion over the Melksham date and include the Exeter game at home?

Can't believe that Forest Green is all ticket. £11 is clearly taking the p1ss is as well. They took the water in the conference playoff first leg too. Lost out on loads of cash just to keep away support to a minimum (plenty still got in the home stand though - I gave my home end ticket away having got a player’s courtesy one on the day!). A shame as would have gone and taken my lad to this one, but not driving to Bristol for tickets. May even have sampled a vegi burger - their loss. Do you think there’s a Rovers / City worry on their part? Can’t think of any other reason. If so, pathetic on FGR’s part.

Have we fallen out with the Mangoes this year? Always enjoyed the pre-season game there.

So who's coming to Cheddar on Saturday afternoon, even if England are playing at the same time?
